Very nice Søren, another excellent find.
I'm on the look out for a nice Rosewood model to match my BG 1202.
God knows where it will live though, for me finding the space to store this stuff is becoming the biggest issue!

I have the BG 1202 in Teak, so this one fits right in, I have been looking for BM 1200 in Teak for some time bot only white ones shows up.
As for space, I have the same problem, I have some ideas but the FS dont agree, I will find a solution to convince her.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Søren Mexico:Well I did it again, about a week ago I bid on a Beocord 1200 R to R, low bid.
Hi Søren,
If you had had another bidder, it would have been me. I am GLAD I didn’t bid as I would much rather you have the 1200 as I really don’t need it, so few tapes and a perfectly good Tandberg.
However, at that price, like you, I was tempted.
Suffice to say it got into the RIGHT hands!

As you with the Tandberg I am totally happy with my BC 2000, but I just couldnt let be bidding, I like the design and the vertically standing feature of the 1200, if I get it working and nice looking I will have to reorganize my living room setup, Or buy new furniture with one whole wall covered with a bookcase/cabinet like piece made to fit some of my collected items I would like 5.50 M by 2.30 M but then I will have to blind one window.
Somehow it would have been better if you had bitten, then I wouldnt have these problems.

I'm surprised you don't build a custom stand with all your skills and tools. I have only rudimentary skills and basic tools and I always build something custom. Part of the fun for me.
Søren Mexico:Somehow it would have been better if you had bitten, then I wouldnt have these problems.
Ah Søren,
And such problems to have!
As you may recall, I went nuts with my clock collection (another addiction) and when I got them all running again (It has be years) it made no sense where they were in the “media” room so I assembled them in the dining room. I am now working on getting them all at the correct time, and it is a delight on the hour and half hour to hear them chiming all at once.
This renovation made space in the media room for a better display AND the addition of my (barely) working Beomaster 1000.
As for the BC 1200, well sir it went to the right home. If I learned NOTHING else from my various attempts at repairing my Tandberg (a lovely instrument, by the way) I learned I am not able to repair a reel to reel properly.
Oh sure to managed to clean it (it needed cleaning) and lubricate it to good affect, as well as changing the lamps, but the electronics are WAY beyond me, and I know it.
You on the other hand can fix it, whatever it needs, so I say things worked out for the best.
Good luck with your organization my friend.
I am fortunate enough to come across another Beogram 4000. The person I bought it from pretty much followed my packing instructions except that he didn't double-box it. Still, he removed the platter, locked down the suspension and filled the turntable deck area with packing material so nothing could move. Here are some pictures of it as I received it.
This has a serial number of 186200 and included the original User Manual. I believe this turntable is from an estate sale where the original owner had this turntable with a Beomaster 4000 and Beocord 2200. I only purchased the turntable.
The Beogram purchase also came with the original Product Information document and the schematic diagram. Very nice to get even though I already have a BG4000 original service manual. It's too bad the turntable didn't also come with the original box but that would have been really rare. Although I have a working BG4000 in my collection, the Beovirus dictated that I make this purchase. I am having a hard time getting my wife to understand that reasoning though. They don't understand this sickness.
Good find John, congrats. Before my next trip to TX we have to talk BG 4002 or 4004
John,
Well…. the packing could have been better, BUT it arrived in good shape. (so who cares?)
Great find, pretty much everyone on this forum knows how much I love my Beogram 4000 and I am sure you will to, along side your other 4000. Kind of impossible not to with a pair of 4000’s.
Congratulations!
Søren Mexico: Good find John, congrats. Before my next trip to TX we have to talk BG 4002 or 4004
Søren
Make it a 4004 with that delightful remote control feature. The 4002 and 4004 look EXACTLY the same so why not go for the extra “goodie?”
I moved my matching (rosewood) Beogram 4002 in favour of the oak veneer 4004 so that my Beomaster 2400.2 could do its magic with the 4004.
Now the 4004 is the turntable I use most often. I think the 4004 would have the same affect on you.
I don't think you can go wrong with a Beogram 400x series turntable. Ever since I saw my first one in a stereo store back in 1975 I had to have one. The suspension, tracking and (of course) design are so great. Critics knock the B&O turntables because they require using only B&O cartridges but that never bothered me. The B&O cartridge line is also excellent as you all know.
On this latest Beogram 4000, I did examine the cartridge mount...while the black, plastic tab is not broken, I can see that the traces have separated from the tab. So this turntable will require a cartridge mount repair similar to the first Beogram 4000 I restored. Due to my current work schedule I won't be able to get this turntable on my bench until after Christmas so I am hoping Beolover has his replacement cartridge mount design perfected by then.John
Great find John, rare to see it with the original instruction manual even. Keep us posted!
Ben
After the Beogram 1000, the 1800—a nice addition, innit?
Yes I have the cover!
Søren Mexico:Before my next trip to TX we have to talk BG 4002 or 4004
I just KNOW I posted this video previously, but since I can’t find it, how could it hurt to mention it again?
I promise you one thing, if you watch this video and all thoughts of a 4002 will disappear. I guarantee it, especially since you have a Beomaster 2400.2.

Take a peak, I dare you!
Jacques,
Very nice indeed.
In a previous post you said you were working on "bloody" computer and I had to laugh, that is just SO British. And the Brits are different, my better half wrote a piece for a British book that went to press yesterday and the editor in London asked just prior to going to print if we could explain the use of the word "benefit." That floored me personally.
chartz: After the Beogram 1000, the 1800—a nice addition, innit? Yes I have the cover!
Jacques, a lovely new addition there. Yours looks in reasonably good condition as well. One issue with these I found (as well as the usual seized motors with the whole 1200 range) is they seem to corrode on the metal quite badly. Mine isn't perfect but it isn't too bad.
Good find though, becoming rarer and they actually sound really really good.
Tim Jarman showed me his with a Beolab 5000 system and it tempted me enough to find one!
Yes, I had the Beolab in mind too. Not sure it will replace the Beogram 4000 however...

Well Jeff, I didnt take your advise, just bought this BG 4002, will be using it (if I get it working) for my Beolab 5000 system (if i get it working)
Nice addition Søren. What is the Type number on it?
John
sonavor: Nice addition Søren. What is the Type number on it? John
I dont know John, I was the only bidder and a low bid, so I practically know nothing about it, the seller mentioned that it probably needs a new power supply, if he knows that, it will probably have more failures so I will have to wait until I get it in my hands, with luck before Xmas
Suffice to say I sincerely hope that you will enjoy your 4002….. truthfully, I know you will.
Had you shared my “obsession” with the remote feature, you would have chosen otherwise. None the less, the 4002 is a marvelous turntable and it is long overdue that you had one.
Had a fantastic concert with my Beogram 4000 last night after dinner interrupted at the end by a horrendous SCREACH from the lack of proper ground. Yea, you have heard this old story several times; I need to run a proper ground to make up for the previous owner’s crude exchange for a DIN connection favoring the RCA connections.
A quick and intense message of the connecting area reduced the SCREACH to an acceptable level.
Unlike you; who jumps into any problem area with a cavalier, yet knowable demeanor; I am terribly afraid to mess with something that works so very well, generally speaking.
Had I known about this ground issue, I would have mentioned it to Martin when I sent him my 4000 for repair.
As it was we were so focused with the fuse issue that the ground problem went unnoticed.
Back to Søren’s new 4002. As my dear mother would have said, “Enjoy it in good health.” Whatever is wrong with it, I absolutely KNOW that you can fix it. And mom was right, enjoy it!
A Beogram 4002! Nice one! As Jeff says, you will enjoy it, no doubt about that.
As for me, I have already fixed my Beogram 1800, just the usual seized-up motor and a bit of cleaning. I guess it was a bargain because I acquired it for ber money really.
Perhaps the second most beautiful deck right after my 4000, second to none of course. It has taken the place of the Beogram 1000 as the runner-up in my - very dynamic - collection.
Perhaps the only thing "wrong" with it is the transport screws are still engaged. Good luck with shipment.
Finally bought one, and now I understand all the loving stories about it. What a wonderful piece of equipment. With a pair of beolab 8000s it`s the perfect minimalist setup.
For the stunning amount of 10 euro`s it was not expensive, but unfortunately it did not come with its foot. Maybe I will get a wall bracket for it.
The picture quality is great, as is the sound

Took some time but now they are home in Mexico city, here the BG 4002 as I received it from my nephew in Torreon, he picked it up in McAllen TX.
I think I have a winner here, no test done will follow in a different thread
And here the other marvel Beocord 1200 RtoR, got it like this from my nephew
Look at this wonderful wood grain
Nice additions Søren. Now that you have the BG4002, what is the Type number on it?

I look forward to your assessment of your new goodies, especially the 4002. Enjoy!
@ Søren - lovely! A reel-to-reel like that is next on my list. Until then I can temper myself will a pair of series one Beovox 5702s!
My latest pickup
I had to replace the poer cord the outer jacket insulation was literally rotting off. Plus once I got inside I noticed the ressister off the power mains was a bit cooked and so I replaced it as well. Gave it a good cleaning and she plays fine.
And yes I I have the original dust cover.
I love this model, manual and a joy to bring the tonearm down on the record with the small lever, and then not to forget to bring it back to the rest.
I always wondered about the 110/220V 50 Hz, but apparently the US versions are in fact 60 Hz, the black top plate must be the later version, mine is gray/silver.
Do you have source for belt, got one from Axel but it do not fit, Martin dont have them
I found some replacement belts that I could use on the Beogram 400x turntables from this web site. You have to figure out what size and shape (square, round) belt you need.

Besides Sonovars link you can also try the Little Green Man from Mars . If he doesnt have it you can send your old one to him and he will find a match and send it plus your old one back usually very quickly.
I have used him with good results and I know Menahem likes his service as well.

FYI - Members of tapeheads.net get a 20% discount from Fred Marrs. I bought something from him once or twice but don't remember what and don't remember if I ever actually used whatever it was!
