Some very nice items. I can only give you some very basic advice. If you post the question in the main part of the forum you will get many more answers from many more people with more expertise than me. The North American portion of the forum is not very active and the connections you are asking about would be the same anywhere. Also, some of your items may be much newer than you think such as the 4000s, 6000s, and 8000s.

What I can tell you is the following. For a simple one room system, use cables called Power Link to connect the 4000s, 6000s, or 8000s, to the Beosound 3000. The Active Kits are used to place speakers in different rooms and still use the same Beosound 3000 as a source. The Actives are connected to the 3000 with a cable called Master Link. The 4000s, 6000s, or 8000s are then connected to the Active Kit. Also, there is a round 3 inch piece with the remote sensor in that connects to the Active Kit to enable the remote to turn on the speakers and the 3000. There are also “option” settings in the 3000 and the Active Kits you program with the remote.

The Bang and Olufsen web page has a large collection of user manuals. You should be able to find the manuals for the 3000, 4000s, 6000s, 8000s and Active Kits there. The other items are older and I am not familiar with them.

Hope this helps some.

One more thought, on the 4000s and 6000s there is a switch next to the cable connections. You will need to set the switch to left or right for each speaker. I am not sure how the 8000s handle the left/right configuration.

Did a little quick checking.....looks like the Beosound 3000 was manufactured through 2006 and the Beolab 4000s through 2012.

No problem I love the system but live in a small house. It came out of a mansion in San Francisco. I am sure no cost was spared. I just don't know what to do with it

Easily.

As a question of what to do with it, try all of it and keep the system you like best for sound and looks and sell or loan out the rest of it. That is if all is working as it should. What excitement and fun!

The combo of the Beosound 3000 with the BeoLab 8000 looks very impressive in a small place. The remotes will work with all of it.

I have decided to keep the large tower speakers and the beosound 3000. it plays but the remote does not work and the volume only works with the aux cable plugged in.

You may need to use the remote to set the appropriate option in the Beosound 3000 to enable the remote to control it. The user guide on the B and O web site should have instructions for doing this. In short, the 3000 needs to be set as audio master. Given all of the equipment you have it may not have been set as the audio master.
