beojeff:the Halo is designed to receive future software updates to add features.
C'mon, we're in 2020! that's the least you can expect from a digital device even if it looks like a Taschen book future design!
Indeed, and that would be my fear / reason for waiting 6 months or so to see how it evolves.
The website description seems to suggest its initial specification is an Essence remote with a display - I thoroughly doubt it will have speaker group selection, meaningful music browsing, light controls, basic BV control etc at launch.
If the my buttons are limited to radio stations, that would be disappointing - plenty of other brands have my button equivalents that can trigger radio stations and playlists / albums, which is a much more acceptable feature set.
beojeff:My dealer has advised that at launch the Halo will have rather basic functions as a music controller to replace the Essence remote. However, the Halo is designed to receive future software updates to add features.
Word must have gotten out that the test product pages had leaked publically. Everything appears shutdown now. It was a great peek at the Halo and H95, though!
No harm intended, B&O. We’re all just superfans eager to see what’s coming next. :)
Currently: BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18, BeoSound Core, Beosound Level, Beosound A1 2nd Gen, BeoPlay S8 Connection Hub, Halo, Essence Remote
Previously: BeoSound 1 non-GVA
I’m wondering if the ring itself can be taken of it’s dock? Or is it permanent sitting on the wall or stand? How does the volume work? Same as with an A9?
Maybe like a beosound 1 or 2, or an essence

Well, I think we all accept that software development is NOT one of B&O's strengths -- as seen from the Moment, B&O app, and the outsourcing of the BLI. The flexibility of software updates and programability of the Essence remote was always something that I wanted -- but not at $750.

Sandyb: Agreed - I’ll pass if it’s pretty much an Essence remote with display.

Except that there are visible presets and more connections options (LAN!) and you can control all your products from one Halo.
Not sure if that represents a big leap forward tbh, but let's see.
I'd certainly hope the presets aren't restricted to radio stations alone - playlists / albums should be allowed too.
And can different presets be assigned to different products (I doubt it, but would be example of an improvement)
Certainly looks nice enough.

I'm afraid that it'll be radio stations only reading the description, just like on the BROne.

Maybe it is going to be conceptually a "translation" of the B&O app to a physical device. Plus some extra features. I believe it might be a nice user experience. And I like the fact that there is a Siri integration.
It's a remote for new generation products because apparently, it doesn't have IR, what a pity! Impossible to control our Century, BS 9000, BS 8,...
And, does it control Beosound 5? Via WiFi? I only use my Beo4, never used another remote.

On the bright side, I take this as a sign that B&O are monitoring this forum and paying at least some attention to what their biggest fans are seeking in their product line.

* Yes, really! 🤦♂️
As I read it, it could/should be used instead of your phone, that also included music subscriptions,
They did not write which, but only music subscriptions,
Also very positive about the screen, the rumor was that the screen was like the one on Beosound 35,
But this looks bigger, with color and touchscreen.
And it can send to your devices either in wifi or Bluetooth.
Sadly no pictures of the screen on, but I think this product is going to be a bestseller,
And I think this will be B&O definition of a new music system.
Beovision Harmony 77" 2nd Gen, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1, Beoplay M3, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay Earset, Beoliving Intelligence
I understand that yes.
My hope (that the buttons could store more, playlists etc) merely is to illustrate that other brands seem to manage more.
And for the extra cost vs the Essence remote, I'd expect more.

Hiort:So not possible to control a BV11 then.... My guess is that the remote will operate any NL product so including BV11. Join function to start with as the BV11 has no native music sources. But we have to wait for more details ofcourse Livingroom: BL3, BL11, BV11-46 Kitchen : Beosound 1 GVA, Beocom 2 Bathroom : M3 Library : A6, Beocom 6000 Bedroom : M5 Office : Beocom 2 Travel : Beoplay E8 2.0, Beoplay P2

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !
If the Halo supports the NL/ML Converter, then support of legacy ML devices won't miss the IR since control will be over LAN or wifi. However, B&O has been horribly neglecting the NL/ML Converter in the app. Some functions work, but others just do not.
Fansastic:Does anyone know when it will be in the stores?
Anyone?
Ferdinand:Well, i handed in my BS9000 for repair/service today and can confirm that Beoremote Halo is scheduled to launch in September!

I very much doubt the Halo will offer the broad functionality I need to control my motley collection of new and vintage B&O gear and third party solutions.
If it can control my BeoLab 90s and 50s, BeoVision 4-103 (including single-touch access to the record function and the TV guide in my Sky box), Beogram CD 5500 and Beocord 5500, as well as accessing the music on the hard drive attached to my Auralic Aries, there's a good chance I'll be investing £750 in it.
If not, it's relatively unlikely.
BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1
That would be great! I am very curious about the halo...
I was told it will be in the next few weeks, will have the three choice buttons as the beoremote 1, would not be a complete replacement for a Beoremote but something to sit along side but will be able to control a V1 or BV11!
had a quick look at the pictures but only a very quick glance! but does look good and think they said it would be around £750.

Since NL BeoVisions/BeoSystem 4 can be controlled by the B&O app, I can see how they could still be controlled by the Halo even without IR.
And I've heard it will have wifi, maybe not at release but in future update..Will be in the shop in October, that's what I has been told..
The wait is almost over! The FCC filing for the Beoremote Halo has exceeded the 'short time confidentially' before official launch. Not very well managed, however you can find the somewhat beta-manual and external photo's here and here.
Interesting is an approximate sensor, touch screen, four favorite buttons on the screen and easy source selection. Looks promising! :-)
MJ:Looks promising! :-)
My dealer has said that the Halo at launch will just have the features of an Essence Remote at launch but that it will become a full-featured remote in coming months. This seems consistent with the initial manual. The true test for me will be if it can connect to an NL/ML Converter via NL and offer access of the mapped sources.
In the "internal photos" there is a switch for MIC on/off.
since it has a proximity sensor built-in, it does not seem to be an ‘allways-on-device’.
I’d prefer to let it show me, what is currently playing (from the choosen source, of corse)....just like I can now with my for the app dedicated Ipad Mini’s.
Wonder if that can be choosen....when the remote is connected to the mains.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Beautiful piece. Made in China, apparently. I think I prefer to just use my phone/tablet and have one less device around the house but it is beautiful and creative.
Curly:Beautiful piece. Made in China, apparently. I think I prefer to just use my phone/tablet
That’s what it says on the product sticker on the rear of the device!
Ah, yes, my Apple products are as well. :)
I just didn’t know B&O had gone to China for manufacturing. I thought it was all made in Denmark or Czech Republic. Not passing a judgment on quality of Chinese items, only indicating surprise.
