Just found a Beocenter 2600 left on the street with some other trash.

Anyway it’s not turning on but for one thing it might be related to the Off button as it seems to be stucked in a pressed in position. Also non of the other buttons (tape, phono, fm etc. Will stay in when pressed.

Before doing to much dismantling Id like to be sure that I’m right in it being a mechanical thing, and if so any good advice how to solve it the right way?

When I have it open are there any other known failure points to be looking for?

Thanks in Advance

Did you check the fuses?

The input butons should release the off button when pressed regardless if there is power or not.

Looks like tar on the input buttons so don't be surprised to find some also into the button mechanism...

The buttons move in a "slow" grease, that gets slower over the years up to the point of being extremely sticky.
While pressing in one of the source buttons carefully pull the OFF button out and the switch inside should switch on.

The pushbuttons will pull right off, and then you can clean them and their slider plates.

Cleaning of the button helped. Now it is working and playing fine on radio and the tape input Smile

As for the internal tape recorder I have no cassetes to try it out
