Hi all fellow beoworlders. A technical question for you technical knowhows. I am considering a Harmony 88 but realize there is a mismatch between the HDMI version 2.1 on the ZX panel and the soundcenter wich has "only" version 2.0. Lets say 8K becomes relevant in 3-5 years and I want to take full advantage of 8K in 60 Hz which is available via the HDMI sockets on the panel; Will I have the full advantage of version 2.1 or will the soundcenter influence this by any means and keep my video signal at 8K 30 Hz? Making such a substantial investment, I want to be sure my Harmony can achive what the specs of the panel is able to deliver. Any other disadvantages of this "mismatch". Thanks in advanca😊. Great Forum by the way.

Not at all Carolpa😁. More than happy with the sound. Just want to be sure the soundcenter wont deteriorate the video signals that HDMI version 2.1 can handle.
Why or how does the sound center influence video at all on Harmony? I would imagine the TV panel plays video and is connected via HDMI to the sound center only for purposes of routing audio, not video.
Currently: BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18, BeoSound Core, Beosound Level, Beosound A1 2nd Gen, BeoPlay S8 Connection Hub, Halo, Essence Remote
Previously: BeoSound 1 non-GVA
Thanks for the reply Curly. I hope and imagine that as well, just want to be convinced and sure.

Which would mean, that you would have to connect the source, that needs a 2.1 HDMI connection for full performance (whatever that would mean) to the LG part - and not via the Sound Center inputs.
And you will have to rely on CEC instead of PUC, if there is anything to control with the BROne.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Thanks Millemissen. Appreciated. The kind of answear and clarification i was looking for. For the part "whatever that would mean"; In this case it means 60 Hz of 8K rather than 30 Hz and frame by frame "Optimalization". You may argue 8K is not relevant for the foreseeable future but making such a heavy investment, I need to look 3-5 years into the future.

It’s funny.
It is like when 4K first came out, people afterwards realized that the more important thing actually was HDR (HFR etc), from which a 2K panel would benefit essensially - and would demand far less bandwith streaming.
The chase for even more resolution only makes sense with bigger displays than an 88” imo.
The industry can produce the stuff.....and of course want to sell it.
The costumer must decide, whether he/she will be part of the race.
Mikipedia; wether 8K will be a thing or not by then remains to be seen. The important thing for me is to be at least up to the specs that the panel can offer today, then.
Millemissen; you are right, 8K resolution really only makes sense with very large displays, maybe even larger than 88" (depending on how close you you are to the screen). But as I stated initiially; When and if 8K becomes relevant in 3-5 years; I cant afford to loose out on specs specified even now. 8K is comming even if you or I dont "need it". My profession is optometry and vision science and I firmly believe higher resolution will bring on collateral benefits besides the very resolution.
HDMI 2.1 (the whole feature set) really is only relevant for gaming.
And a good subset of the 2.1 feature set is available on current TVs through their 2.0a / 2.0b implementation.
Gaming is the only place that content with the max resolution and high frame rates will become available.
So unless you're a gamer (and if you are, I suspect a Harmony may not be centre of your gaming rig), then you re not missing out on anything.
Its how many years since the advent of broadcast HD? Any even now, none of the broadcasters beam out in 1080P, i.e. the full feature set of HD.
If you like the Harmony, get it and dont stress about future proofing for an even now unlikely scenario. Or if you want to be as future proof as possible now, then I'd suggest buying such an expensive TV may not be the most sensible (of course I dont know your budgetary considerations).

As the Soundcenter have eARC there is no problem at all. you will have 3 fully capable HDM input plus 4 other HDMI input.
If or when you will need the capacity of HDMI 2.1 you just plug it in the TV, and the sound will go uncompressed to the soundcenter.
I saw the TV in Hamborg, and you will surely have the best TV on the market good luck with that :D

Hi Emil and thanks for the input. Exactly as I hoped then👌😊.
It’s either you buy it now and enjoy it - or you wait........with the result that the industry by then has developed ‘new dazzling features’, that they will tell you, that you absolutely need In order to get the best out of some certain games or demo videoes.
As of now and for some time you probably could connect a gaming console to the LG-tv itself - no PUC control needed there - with the sound routed to the Sound Center for the best possible solution.....and your peace of mind.
Very true Millemissen. I will purchase it in very near future😊🤞.
