Very bad manual for the floor stand and now it seems that my stand is wrongly produced. The aluminium plate has three magnets underneath itself and the floor stand has six "holes" sunken down into it that I guess the magnets should rest in. The problem is that the magnets is attached about 4 centimeters in to the plate from the edge and on the stand itself the holes are only a few millimeters from the edge.. So there is a few centimeters difference.. The whole plate seems warped too. Annoying... I am trying to see if I am thinking wrong but I can't see how.
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
My guess would be that the magnets and depressions have nothing to do with each other.

Call your dealer for goodness sake. I put mine together, and believe i broke the 7-55 stand which is going to cost me £400!

On second thoughts that magnet looks perilously close to the gear position. How thick are the magnets? Is it obvious that they need to drop into something rather than just make contact with the cast iron base?

Thats what is bothering me too! tThey seem to be glued in position and yes my dealer said they hade made last minute changes... But the floor stand in the store was apparently fine. I think I will have to assemble without the aluminum because Im going on vacation for two weeks and tomorrow is a holiday in sweden (....). After waiting for a week more for delivery and now this I can easily say Im not very happy right now. And it also say in the manual that you should have special service tools (which is not included). For example a skate thing to roll the tv and stand into right position. Now I will have to try and push it gently. I like to fix things myself since I am also interested in it and my retailer didn't say that it would be this hard. Annoying day.. And when will I have time to fix things for my vacation? Probably never :D.
The plate can stay there for now I think but it is not flat. I want B&O to order a new one and install it for me so I won't have to bother with taking the tv off and the stand apart myself again.

Oh... I am happy now! The stand is not perfect - the aluminium is very much less quality than the plates on the back. I believe it is a prototype perhaps. It also has a signature which is very interesting . The magnets seem far off and it is not flush with the stand itself. There are three magnets at wrong distance and it has to be replaced. There was also a shipping screw that there where no notice of but it was yellow and made the stand stand still .I have not eaten a lot today and I am quite tired so not a lot of photos today but I took pictures all trough out the installation process!Sorry if I sounded a bit annoyed earlier. I was, but it was mainly because of the shipping company that was slow and of course due to the stand plate. The TV is amazing and I will look more at it now instead of trying to snap good pictures. I only have it connected quickly to my cable network (SD) but it looks really good! No external speakers connected now either but amazing sound. I will connect the other speakers when I come back from San Francisco! Heres a few pictures at least and a video ! Video here if it is not shown above
Nice pictures! Getting mine next week, also rejected installation help. Fingers crossed!
Did you buy 3D glasses from B&O? Do anyone know if it's possible to buy another (cheaper) brand of the glasses?
Thanks Michael for the photos, the avant really is a thing of beauty. It definitely looks better in a home environment really loving the clean lines of the tv.

Nice pics, Michael!
A suggestion: skip your trip to SF, stay home, and keep on posting pics and your impressions of Avant. We'd appreciate it!
(Just kidding).
For Avant: enjoy!
For SF: Have the best of time! Avant will be there when you return.

Haha thanks . I wish I could take better pictures (which I can do in daylight and with more energy in me [I am exhausted!]. My DSLR lens just gave up today so I am limited to my iPhone (or a 70-200 mm telephoto lens). I have not bought any 3D glasses yet. That will have to wait! I think B&O´s are a little overpriced but the new version at least looks nice. I´ll look into it when Im back again! Did you notice how the signature looks like Tue Mantoni? Could it be?
Hi Michael,
Well done with the Avant! I hope that you enjoy it for many, many years!
Have a great trip to San Fran. It's a magical place!
All the best!
Paul W: Hi Michael, Well done with the Avant! I hope that you enjoy it for many, many years! Have a great trip to San Fran. It's a magical place! All the best!
Hi Paul! Thank you very much! Cheers
Great photos Michael.
Just had confirmation today that my Avant should be installed on June the 10th. Sounds like it's going to be a reasonably longish job, too.
Well I'm sure when it's up and running it will be worth the wait moxxey, I'm very envious of you guys right now the avant has a really incredible picture and sound quality.
Congrats to all you guys that have received or are waiting to receive your new Avant... a fantastic television. My BV9 arrived yesterday and is now set up with, Sky HD, an Apple TV and some BL9s. I am so happy and have been watching it non stop. It was definitely the right decision (for me). I will create a separate thread sometime soon for those that are interested to follow as the picture impresses me a lot for such an old Mark 1 television. In the meantime, do enjoy your Avant's and Michael, have a great trip to 'Frisco' and remember what you will be coming home to!
Best wishes,Simon.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
Thanks all. I am now going to bed but first I´d like a few first impressions.• The TV gets quite hot on the back.• There is a few led lights (green and red, maybe other colors) inside the back that lights up and blinks. Some of them can be seen in darkness easy. • The sound is really good.• The interface is a little blurry so I think it is 1920x1080 and not 4K native (odd!)• Tried 4K over HDMI from my MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013) and in that resolution the Beovision interface is not visible(!) as someone said before. • The new interface with a "shadow"-marker instead of gray is nice but the previous one was easier to see. And using skeumorphism instead of true elements (such as the old grey marker) is not always a good idea. • Looks easy to replace the speaker fabric and the aluminium plate. I could imagine a red fabric with a black aluminium plate would look nice!I think it feels a bit odd that the TV seems to work in 1920x1080 mode and not 4K. Since the interface/gui is not available/visible in 4K (as of now at least) it makes it impossible to easily adjust settings or choose a source from the screen menu etc. I don't like this. I used the remote to change between picture modes and I think it did show a second of feedback but without the source (4K) shown at the same time. It looks like it does picture enhancement on 4K sources but I am not sure yet. Perhaps B&O need more time to make a GUI in 4K but I find it hard to believe. It might just be that the tv is not designed to work in "true" 4K "all the way". I want to find out more about this since it is very relevant. When using a connected Mac for movie playback of 4K or any other 4K source I want to be able to use the Beovision menu, see the volume, set sleep timer, watch the clock etc. Overlay on 4K sources is a necessity. This is the interface we are familiar with on these TV´s so it should follow through always!
That's the problem with 4k. Too ahead of it's time.
Quite literally nothing to watch on it , not even the tv interface !
Michael I hope you enjoyed your sleep as much as we enjoyed the writings and the pictures.
Thank you so much for letting us experience some of your joy.
Enjoy SF (I agree it is a special place) .... are you going top Apple's WWDC ? That would be very interesting if you were - perhaps you can become our roving reporter for all things digital
Safe flight and happy times.

Congratulations mate on the arrival (lol) of your new television. Thanks for your honest feedback warts and all. Enjoy your trip and hello from Australia's Gold Coast (I too am travelling atm).
BeoGreg: Thanks for taking the time for pictures Mickael and by the way what's the tv on the wall on your first pic ? (Looks like a B&O but it's not a BV10 11 or 12 !).

Judging from the "bump" in the bottom center border, I'd say a Samsung.
Marcello:Judging from the "bump" in the bottom center border, I'd say a Samsung.
The old one is a Samsung D8005 55" TV (D8000 in USA). I like it very much and I actually think it makes a better job upscaling SD content but I haven't had enough time to look really. I am not going to attend WWDC personally but I am going to be close to WWDC and be at Apple headquarters. I am an Apple geek by heart!I just realized that I can now watch TV nicely from my kitchen (ignore the PC´s - spring cleaning).
I have to say it does look nice now , the grille seems much less obtrusive
Flappo: I have to say it does look nice now , the grille seems much less obtrusive
I agree.
I take back my comments likening it to a Bose WaveRadio front. I guess those early pictures were from an angle that showed the internal structure of the fret that you don't actually see in practice.
I just found a dead/or defective pixel on the left side while trying to get fingerprints of the screen. Guess it's only visible on close sight. Hope so :).
I don't think the grill is annoying either, you get used to it quickly.
However my mind can't stop thinking about replacing the black fret with a red, blue or green fret. Wow that would look awesome. And I will probably do this myself if B&O won't offer the choice .
The sound is quite good! In movies the sound is really full. I sold my old Yamaha subwoofer and I don't even miss it but I will probably add a beolab sub or other speakers.
Now I have two bl8000 fronts and two bl penta, bl6000 or another pair of bl8000 as possible rear speakers (none connected now).
Perhaps a pair of beolab 9 would be better than a subwoofer & bl8000 etc?
Bl5 would be cool but too expensive now.
I love the look of beolab 8000 so I don't want to leave them out really. Here´s a picture from cable tv (SD content), the funny movie Zoolander in a little sunlight. !

I have heard, that it should be quite a few.
Have a safe trip.

Thanks MM! I think Phil Shiller had a Beocom 6000 and that was the origin of the scroll wheel for the first iPod! I just saw in the Beoremote one settings that there is a setting for allowing "IR reception". I read this as two way communication.
As much as I love Apple , it's a shame Jony Ive won't acknowledge his design debt to bno
He harps on about that guy who designed for Braun , but nothing about David Lewis

Just received the July issue today. Agree with you. I have it in my bag - off to Cyprus tomorrow :)
The Avant advert Is in most magazines this month. Seen it a few times now. Looks like B&O is investing heavily in marketing recently.
olvisab:Hi Is it possible to use another center speaker with this new avant. Could you please check if we have some choice in selecting the center speaker ? Thanks

With the new 'sound engine' in the new BV's you can make any speaker act exactly as the speaker you want it to.
I suppose you can disable the built-in speakers of the Avant and connect a BL7-4 or a BL10 as the center, if you please.
But...are you sure you want to do that?

I´m quite sure that the centerspeaker is one kit together with the left and right (that are the ones that "expands"). So no separate movement for the center.
Or did you mean that the whole speaker kit should remain hidden, if a centerspeaker is connected? Then you would loose the left and right as well.
