I'm a cheapskate. Depending on my mood I pick the appropriate radio station from the web on my Olive One.
The Olive has copied all my audio onto its hard disk including cover art, but as I don't have the massive collection that some here have I can't make comparisons with the Moment. It does all the streaming and storing that I need, and more importantly has rejuvenated my old Beomaster and Beovox's!

Millemissen:@beroli You may use the device the way you want to - I don't care, really. If it pleases you, you should be fine. However - what I read in your comments - it doesn't please you. But you still like it, and I wonder why? I guess we have made our points on the previous pages - time to let other owners/users and future buyers decide how they want to use the device. MM There is a tv - and there is a BV.

Chris Townsend: Does it work with Apple TV?
Does it work with Apple TV?
No idea. I have Apple TV on my BV11, but what would I achieve trying to link the Olive One to it?
Chris Townsend:How would I send the sound to my 7-55? Would it need to be hard wired?
The Olive has amplified and unamplified outputs and also an optical output. Choosing one type of output switches the others off. No idea whether you could connect it to a 7-55.

Of cource you can!
The BV7 has coaxial digital input ports
You will need to convert from optical to coax using a small converter.
Configure the input - choose the wanted settings etc.
You'll need to push that button, before you can hear sound - use the AV button before the associated button to avoid the screen turning on.
The volumen must be controlled by the BV7/the remote and all searching () is done through the Olive interface.

to my knowledge the SPDIF is coaxial and not optical!

There are several of these:

BS Moment owner and - in particular - those with an additional A9 2nd Gen better watch out for the update due for tomorrow.
Not the 'big update', but it should be possible then to 'join' in from the A9/2nd.
Will be interesting to see, how improved the search function will be!
N.B. No guarantee - don't kill me, if it won't be tomorrow
I am now thinking of getting a dedicated mini tablet to run BeoMusic on in order control the Moment. I would like to operate it in a kiosk mode so no other apps can run.
Any suggestions as to what might be best?
Do remember, that the BS Moment is a BeoSound, that integrates with the NL network and the BeoMusic app is a controlled app for the devices on the B&O NL network.
Those who like the 'MoodWheel and the PatternPlay-way' of choosing what to listen to, will need the BS Moment in the setup.
The BeoMusic app can be used with the Essence (2nd Gen) solely (and of course with the Moment too).
A dedicated tablet in kiosk mode would be excellent for that - and is what I have proposed several times.
I'd go for an iPad Mini.
P.S. The interface of the BeoMusic app is rumoured to get updated sometime over summer.
Chris Townsend: Eventually they'll make a decent interface with Spotify/Apple Music etc, all overlaid onto the mood wheel etc.

I am pretty sure, that they will NEVER do that - due to restrictions with Spotify and AppleMusic, when it comes to the use in a NL/multiroom setup.
I am not saying, that you 'should' use a seperate 'BeoMusic-tablet', if you run the Moment as a standalone setup (i.e. without any further NL products).
But you 'could', if you find it easier, when searching - and for controlling the 'multiroom'/NL it will be mandatory anyway.
Let's wait and see - maybe the search function now will improme so much, that - with some exceptions - people will be satisfied with it.
Personally I wish, that they would focus one one (or more) 'linkroom' speaker(s) to get things going.....
Will the new S3 just be a bluetooth speaker or will it be able to work with the NL as does the A9 (2nd)?

My mind is so sharp that I once wressled with a riddle and accidentally killed the answer.
"Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see, let your ears tell you the truth."
Chris Townsend:I think everyone knows and agrees with that. What they aren't likely to swallow, is buying a tablet, for a device with a tablet. That's absurd.
I agree that it is absurd. However I am tired of wrestling with the useless interface. BeoMusic works well. Hopefully B&O will see the light regarding the interface issues although I am not holding my breath at the moment.
As I and some of us configured the Moment & BLC correctly with the new software, I find its working faultless on the ML network with the NL/ML converter.
My next Wishlist to B&O:
- A Beomusic app where you can start, search and play your own made playlists made from your music.
- Moment Jukebox, extensive search possibility also on your own music. Not on albums only, but also on songs.
- Make a deal with Tidal Lossless, the partner list has been expanded seriously but I miss B&O. And let us choose the music service we want.
- Remove that awful commercials on some TuneIn radiostations.
Beomusic: version 2 is on the way and it works great with the Moment update
Chris: - Make a deal with Tidal Lossless, the partner list has been expanded seriously but I miss B&O. And let us choose the music service we want.
The problem here is, that B&O need a service, that will allow to use more than one stream at a time (from only one account).
Otherweise it would make little sense to have multiroom', the way B&O intend to - play some music in the kitchen and play something else in the livingroom....
Only Deezer alows this - by now.

We need some screenshots - as fast as you can
I am considering a Beosound Moment. I understand search has been improved in the latest update which of is great of course.
What I would be interested to know from Moment owners is how good pattern play and the mood wheel is; does it actually suggest songs you like and or are appropriate for your mood?
So far I have experimented with Deezer, Apple Music and Spotify on my phone / computer and I cannot say I am extremely impressed with the suggestions they give based on my music taste. Apple Music gives ok advice but their suggested playlists (in "For You") are a bit one sided (too tightly genre focused) and Spotify is also kind of ok but a bit too predictable.
Deezer Flow seems to think I am totally into 80s music (which would suit my age), but I am actually more into Soul / Funk etc. I tried to dislike all 80s suggestions and like all songs that could fall into the soul / funk category but this only helps a bit; I still get at least 50% 80s.
So that begs the question how the mood wheel and or pattern play suggestions are. Do Moment owners feel the suggestions are in line with what they want / does Deeze come up with good suggestions in the "middle circle" that both suits your mood and musical taste? Does pattern play really understand what you want after a while? Would be great to hear your experiences.
Many thanks!
Hi PeterBOBP,
that is a great question, that has not been asked (or given an answer to yet) on the forum!
Everyone has been busy disliking (or liking) the looks of the BS Moment, critizing the search function, the handling of big local libaries, the integration with different DLNA servers etc etc.
But - as far as I know - no one has made any comments on this unique function of the BS Moment.
It is well known, that the device needs time to 'learn', what you like and when you want to hear it.
Personally I haven't had the opportunity of having the device at home (as long as you need for making any comments on that), but I would be very interested too to hear, what the BS Moment users have experienced over time.

elephant:Update: just saw this explanation of how Apple Music has evolved its algorithms ... http://www.macrumors.com/2015/07/02/apple-music-liking-system-customization/

Interestingly Apple are now using the word that B&O have been using for ages "curated".. meaning learning your listening habits / music.
Ed I think your survey would have been moment centric being that the categories were typical to the mood wheel and pattern play.
I went to the Collins Street store yesterday to play with the moment, but couldn't get it to work as their internet was down, to which i said how about NAS music... in the end i got to play with the screens but no music. It was the interface i was wanting to play with anyway.

What were your thoughts?

Been at the dealer today, asked about the small NL/ML power-supply box for my ML link, and ordered one. (I removed my BS3200 from the ML-link, and are using now a BV3 to give power to the ML-link.)
The dealer told me, for what its worth, (remember my announcement about the delayed August multiroom room update, I was completely wrong) that the Beomusic app update and Essence MKII are coming in august.

Raeuber:Hi Chris, what is this 'small NL/ML power-supply box for ML link'? If you use this, is the big (and expensive) NL/ML converter no longer needed if you want to connect a NL audio device (Moment or Essence 2nd gen) to a masterlink system? Regards Räuber

Hiort:The little box provide power to the ML if no audiomaster is connected. You still need the NL/ML converter.
You need this little box to give the necessary power supply to the ML-link, otherwise the ML-link won't work anymore if you remove an audiomaster in this Masterlink. And as Hiort told, its by no means a replacement for the ML/NL converter, you still need it to make connection. They made the box as a replacement for the 1611 (out of production), who could give also the necessary power to the ML-link.
With the purchase and now the multiroom function of my Moment I removed my BS3200 who was acting as the audiomaster, and are using now my bedrooms BV3 to give supply to the link, but I don't like it to keep a BV3-32 24 hours a day in stand-by function just to give the necessary juice, thats why I need the new box.
As we see in the example from Chris, the 'little black box' not only replaces an (ML-)audiomaster, but any ML-master!
It is a simple device with a ML-driver (for the masterlinked linkroom-products.
I played a bit with the new coming Beomusic app today, apart from the new functions it still don't give me a solution to search and find songs in my own server music playlists. Its nice with Deezer playlists, and play/search works fine in here, but my own music m3u playlist from the server don't give me that equal function. Its still a beta app, so hopefully they added something till August.

No complains at all, it is fully functional in my setup and works as promised.

...
Quite the oposite everyone has been busy to get it up and running, the bugs and flaws MM and me mentioned before are still there. Hopefully B&O will fix it in future. But this was not the question.
@ Peter
1. if you run a Twonky-Server on a allways switched-on Mac/PC
2. if you switch off the refreshing in the setup of the Twonky-Server
3. If your own library (music-collection) is perfectly tagged or if you want to use Deezer only or booth
4. if you don't fiddle or change to often your own database/server (because every change, needs a new day-eatong processing-procedure)
5 if you have your final music-database up and running, add you add new music with Deezer only
then you will enjoy pattern play after some days. It works, but it needs time to read your pattern. Every factory reset (i had my fair share of them) will force you to be patient again until you can use pattern play again. It is really working.
Since I switched from my NAS to a new Mac Mini-Twonky combination, I enjoy the pattern play and the mood wheel. i am far away to say that the device is perfect right now, but if you use it in a setup like this - go for the BS Moment.
Cheers
Beroli
I will post some configuration tips in future to help other to avoid the traps on the way.
Here is an article (or rather two articles), that describe/s how Apple intends to find out, what you 'like to hear'. Please note the readers comments too.
A lot of tapping 'hearts' and 'stars' and choosing options....
To me it seems, that this is, what B&O with PatternPlay intended to avoid.
