carlito:Thanks Elephant His advice was that you only switch on/off the system with the remote, everything else you do with the Beo App.

Your dealer seems not to be well informed.
Maybe he should have said, that untill today it is not known, which controls will be possible using the ir-eye (via remote or direct on the eye).
It is a software-thing - I suppose we will be wiser in September/October.
As of today there is no official support for a connected ir-eye (which does not mean, that it won't work).
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
elephant:One solution is MM's magical blue box, Or you could just use two cables and one H6 and an H8 And you probably get zero dropouts

Hahaha, well that would be something. :)
Now seriously, looking forward towards cable-free NL setup, I am also more and more wondering if the MM's magic "NL Connect Box" might be an improved Receiver 1 with NL chips/SW inside? And what if there would be also BT streaming capability? :)
Alternatively, if Essence Mk2 would have BT streaming then it is even more simple. :) <3
The perfect solution would be to have a Bluetooth remote when you enter the room AND the possability to control the Essence with IR commands as well... #wishlist
Do you have experience with the IR eye? If there is a need from people here i will try to get one for testing purpose...

That is the way things can work.
Of course we are interested in 'you testing the ir-eye'.
But do remember, that the real thing won't be possible before after the 'big update' later this year.
All I was told is, that the ir-eye works - but not with full support for all commands (yet).
In the FAQs on the B&O website about the BS Moment there is a chart, which indicates which function, you can activate (on the BS Moment) with the BeoRemote One/the Beo4. That might be a hint to what will be possible with the Essence.
mjmedlo:I ordered mine today. Hopefully 2 weeks out.
BeoNut since '75
didn't found the mentioned chart, but have a look on this (from the B&O FAQ)
In order to operate BeoSound Essence with Beo4, you must connect an IR receiver (material number: 8089119) to the socket marked IR-IN on BeoSound Essence.Operate BeoSound Essence with Beo4 …
How do I operate BeoSound Essence with my Beo4?
It is a strange thing - in these FAQ's you some times find stuff, that is not mentioned in the user guides - or that the dealers don't know of.
I'll post a screenshot from the 'Moment-FAQ', when on my Mac later. There the Remote One commands are mentioned.

So - now you've got your foot in the door!
This was not the point of my post.
Shouldn't be a big problem to you, since you have transformed yourself to DeviaBoy68
I expect everybody is going to use an iOS or Android device to use the Beomusic 2.0 app to controll their system.
Controll of own Music collection, TuneIn, Deezer, controll of the joining of different NL products. Since I have access to a beta version I use a remote for music listening hardly anymore.
First question: What is BLC?
From my point of view the new NL concept is without Audio master. It is more like one system (e.g. Essence) is playing and others sources (e.g. A9) is "joining" the same source (e.g. Deezer, Spotify)
The Moment is a more elaborated Essence (mood wheel) - or in other words an Essence with an iPad. To be honest, I was never dived deep into the Moment topic as i don't like the design.

A BLC is a converter - meant is the NL/ML Converter, that is use to integrate NL and ML (= MasterLink products e.g. the BV7).
You are right - there is no 'master' in a NL setup.
But the AudioSystems have different functions and may also be quite different in the handling.
With the BS Moment you get the features 'MoodWheel' and PatternPlay' - something, that you won't have with the Essence (2nd gen) or with the A9 (2nd gen).
And you get a dedicated tablet (that cannot be misused for non-audio things) with an integrated control wheel. Some people like the pure basic wooden side - others the more exploring panel side. No need for an extra tablet.
With the Essence/the A9 you get AirPlay and Spotify Connect.
You can use the 'Wheely' with all of them - and the BeoMusic app.
Of course it is a matter of preference (and taste), which one you buy.
You can have both in a setup - by the way.
They can all work as standalone units or as part of a NL network.
lonfred:Will the Essence Mark 2 be able to use as an audio master in a ML system together with BLC and a ML video master? What will be the difference be between the Essence mk2 and a Moment? My dealer has give me a good deal for a Moment but I dont know what to choose...
Millemissen:So - now you've got your foot in the door!
BeoBoy68: Maybe I own more Beo products like you.

Short update. Installed the Essence MK2 today. Overall experience is very good. The BeoMusic App is currently NOT working with the new Essence. The last update of the App was back in January this Year.
Workaround: Spotify via Bluetooth is working, TuneIn is working (Configured via BeoSetup App). ITunes Library connected via Aux-In from my DAC (controlled via Remote App from Apple).
Keep you posted when the update is ready

Yes, after the major software release in September or later this year. My dealer loan me a Transmitter 1 until then.
...and the price?
Millemissen:...and the price? MM There is a tv - and there is a BV.
elephant: i.e. The Essence Mark II appears to be priced at the same as the Mark I at a white box for white box level

That is the reason, why I still can't believe, that it will come with built-in WiSA.
Would be nice, if it does, though.
I popped into a dealer near where I work, I was told that the Mk2 was £850, and did not come as a seperate box and remote. So just hoping thy were wrong.
also told there was no upgrade available for those who brought an original Essence

Here is a short video on how the Multiroom system works with the Essence Mark 2.
The other link is to the new Beosound Essence page on Bang & Olufsens webpage. The page isn't really ready yet, but you can get some information out of it.

Thanks - appreciate that.
The first video should be well known to most (interested) Beoworlders. It was even rumoured, that the 'joining' of the A9 was faked, because the sw was not finished at that time...
The second was mentioned in a thread started on last saturday by the user Emil.
I wonder, when the guys in Struer will notice, that a not-finished webpage is online 😴
Or they let us think that we got something 😂

Thanks for your updates on the Australian situation, elephant. I'm a long-time lurker who just signed up.
I made probably the mistake of buying a Beosound Essence MK I second-hand from the US recently (in transit), since it was only afterwards I started following these threads on the MK II.
Wondering if you have any specific comments on:
I suppose that if I'm not interested in multi-room in the near future and planned to plug the Essence in via an ethernet connection anyhow that there is actually next to no different between MKI and MKII?
Hi and welcome to Beoworld
Here a non exhasutive list of pro's from the MK2 version
What else?
double post - please delete
carlito: Hi and welcome to Beoworld Here a non exhasutive list of pro's from the MK2 version Same price tag (at least here in Switzerland) Essence "wheely" remote equal to MK1 Apple lossless capabilities WISA on board (after major software release in September / October) Deezer integration ... What else?
There is no WISA in the MKII.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
If the MRK2 does decode Apple Lossless, I might buy it. However I would buy it only after the beta test of the app is finished. Bang & Olufsen's software has always been a problem. I was beginning to look elsewhere for a new system.
Deezer has not been available in the US. B&O will have a real problem convincing people here about the benefits of Deezer. I have been using Apple Music and like it. All of my ripped music is Apple Lossless.

Wondering if you have any specific comments on: If the remotes for the MKII are exactly the same?
What the AUD cost of the MKII box will be?
If I would have any chance to 'upgrade' short of just buying a completely new box?
BeoMegaMan:There is no WISA in the MKII.
elephant:I think we have conflicting rumours unless a sheep has whispered in your ear. They absolutely should - even if costs a tad more, or produce a Transmitter 2 (or T-mini) that is just a simple stereo+sub system. IE the existing Transmitter cut in "half" with only a PL1 input (and a non-B&O input) BeoNut since '75
BeoMegaMan:No rumor. It doesn't have it. Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
