Why should there be a MK2 version - the Moment is constantly getting updates.

Why not ?

The screen is of poor quality, and... Stick out tongue

No - Dynaudio and Scanspeak are two different companies.

Scanspeak is a Danish speaker manufacturer located in Videbaek, Denmark.  Scanspeak is owned by the Chinese company, Eastern Asia Technology.

I went into my local dealer and they had recently set them up. I had a brief listen.

I was literally blown away by there incredible detail. Found a track my son plays very regularly at home and heard sounds I'd never heard before.

I played a classical instrument and have a good ear, these speakers are in another league to the BL5s. They are outstanding, go have a listen and you will understand!

The showroom have already sold a few pairs too Smile

On my bicycle trip southwards I came to Munich via Basel and took a chance to look at the A1. By the way I asked the dealer about the BeoLab 90 and he had a pair!

I took a quarter of an hour to listen ...

Q: How do the speakers present the sound?

A: Which speakers?

I went for a listen the other day at Melbourne, but they had some wifi dropout issues,

The store is very impressive! but i've got a keen eye for the finer details, and a lot of the store looks rushed, all the panels behind the BL90 are just shoved in, and the clean lines are not in line. not huge, but when dealing with a high end brand, you expect high end furnishings!

considering i have 9.5 toes, my big toe does look big! lol

I try and edit out my feet where appropriate - and insert slippers where appropriate haha.

Anyway, I was listening to Lorde Royals on the BL90s and wow it was good.  As soon as i changed to that song which was more appropriate than the rubbish that was on it changed most speakers in the showroom (yay).

I think maybe i should get a pair of those instead of a car, it probably has better resale!

But i do want the BL20s but have no room - the couch in my front room is 2.9 metres haha

I was at my dealer today listening to Beolab 20s thinking about purchasing a pair. They also had a pair of 90s in stock and on display. I did not listen to them as I did not want to hear them either before or after the speakers I am thinking of purchasing. LOL

I am trying to decide if it is worth the cost of the 20s to upgrade from my 9s. Do you have any thoughts on how your new 20s compare to 9?

Sorry I don't.

Been a long time since I'd heard the 9s.

And I had nothing in that class at home.

What the wife and I tested independently and together in a few sessions was the 18 vs 20 decision.

I was surprised given her passion for opera (ie human voice) that she enjoyed the 20s more.

Yesterday I listened to an Apple Music recording and I was disappointed in the tone of the violins in Beethoven's 9th - too thin; but perhaps because it was made in 1951 ?

Keep the 9s.

Wait

Save money

Plan on the new model due out that slots above the 20, but below the 90, using 90 technology

I was wondering if there was something new worth waiting for. But if slotted between the 20s and 90s, probably much more expensive than the 20s?

Interesting price point. Aren't the Beoab 5's just below $30K? I wonder if B&O feels that they don't risk cannabalizing sales of one speaker for another.

The 45s ?

Or 30s and 60s ?

I know this is a BL90 thread that is bumping up against BL5s and 20s but I could not rest after yesterday's comments / findings:

Yesterday I listened to an Apple Music recording and I was disappointed in the tone of the violins in Beethoven's 9th - too thin; but perhaps because it was made in 1951 ?

So I have been comparing these live recordings of a famous concert with my BL3s+BL19 versus my BL20s ... Of course the DAC is different ie ATV gen4/BV8-40 versus an Essence mk II ...

Conclusion ?

The Essence / BL20s are somewhat unkind to the 1951 recording ...

And my 1977 Von Karajan Berlin Philharmonic CD rip is the better sound

They may be even closer to $30,000 soon. Dealer told me yesterday that there will be price increases June 1. Beolab 20s are going up to $14,500.

I would imagine that any BL90 offspring would have to come in below the 5s. 5s never sold that well because of size and cost.

Hi,

I might be able to help. But, because this is a troubleshooting process, it might be a little pedantic for the forum. I'll send you a message directly.

Had a listen one month ago.

I have shorten it because compared to the beolab 5 they didn't impressed me at all, except for its bass capabilities. We really feel in the body the projection of bass

I am sure they can beat the bl5 if we choose very good recordings and perticular music that use all their capabilities (same issue with the bl5 and any high end speaker) but frankly for this price and usual music sources, no way.

I prefer dreaming of 4 pairs of bl5.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

Gosh. That's impressive information! Is there an approximate price for those of us saving?

Do you have an idea technically why they failed to impress like the BL5s did in 2003 and BL90s?

Thanks Olvisab!

I spoke about the bl90 not the 50.

That's just my opinion as a beolab 5 owner and plainly satisfied by them.

I was not impressed neither by its look. Found them smaller than expected (that is not so bad finally). I believed they were 20 cm taller.

For me they look far less high end than the futuristic beolab 5.

I know someone else who owns a pair of beolab 5 that will listen to them soon. He can afford them (I don't) and I am waiting for his opinion.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

Known the lab 5s now.

I've heard the 90s on several occasions.

I can't agree with your assessment. I found the 90s to be much less harsh and much more 'together'.

Having the BeoLab 90's in our store has been great to get a true opinion...

They are everything needed for the most advanced music listening experience. When not calibrated they did perform well but got a lot better when calibrated.

Love the piano black!!
