Thanks. That's a long old wait for a TV. I am beginning to regret ordering it. I hope they aren't increasing the price!

You have a contract. Don't see how they could.

I understand your current frustration - I think the current pain would be mild to your anger if you'd taken delivery of expensive kit that was obsolete within a month or three.

@Razlaw

I am very cautions about giving advice about actual TVs since it a highly sensitive matter.. Smile

What i can vouch for though,- without a dedicated center, you will be taking a step down i sound experience.

Depending on how you use your TV on a daily basis, there might be other considerations, coming into play.

If you do want to give a new TV a shot, do me a favor and get yourself a copy of the Hateful Eight, that movie clearly illustrates why the center is really important!

About the menu, I actually think the Beolab1 is the recommendation for the BL20!

I was saying the Avant speakers where extraordinary compared to the flat screen competition.

Now of course if the competition is bulky BV7 they are less extraordinary !

I have been of the opinion that with my equipment, the Avant 55 Sound bar and the pre-curser sound processing is superior to that of the BV7-55 / BL7.6.

Is the BL7.6 loudspeaker itself a superior hardware setup to that of the Avant's bolt-on module - absolutely I think. Is the BV7-55 Sound-processing as good the Avant? - no it is no where near as good. Net result: Avant's sound in my opinion is much better than the BV7-55

I agree and have made that point to the dealership. I would just like a bit more communication and to be told it is going to be August or October, so at least I know when I might at least receive the TV. I'm sure once I have it, I will be delighted, and soon forget the delays.

In the same way food tastes better in a nicely designed restaurant the sound is better when you like the look of its sounce?

Since the Beovision 5 and the original Avant, the vocals have always been weak in my opinion. My 7-40 with the 7-4 had to be turned way up to hear the dialogue. The 10 wasn't too bad and the 11 better.

As good as my 7-55 still is, the sound on the current Avant is much better, the centre channel especially so.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

The DSP is doing an outstanding job in the AVANT trying to compensate the lack of volume , provided you dont push it!

But technically, the Avant speaker, simply cannot match any of the speakers in the BL7 range. Physics alone will prevent it!

I am curious though, how do you match the BL90 with the Avant speakers?  8kw vs 30w how does that pan out ?

I've had the 7 series, I have the avant now and the 11 series.

The avant is nice and to me is louder

The hidden woofer in the back is a really nice addition and really warms the sound.

The DSP is really quite something honestly.

The all around processing in the avant is very nice.

I have the 7.4 in a theater setup.

It's a different experience because I ha e the beolab 5s connected.

I have not ever found the avant center channel to be incomplete or inadequate.

I have my avant setup with two lab 1s and a lab 2 sub.

It is superb frankly.

Don't be too awfully worries about the avant center channel. It will surprise you!

Interesting thread here. I was going to say that I thought the sound on my lil BV6-22 was incredible in a decent sized apartment so these beasts must be exceptional.

On a different note, is it safe to buy a B&O TV these days. Is the software reliable? Will the android platform help or makes things even worse? For me, i'd always use a Fire TV box or Apple TV box so not too bothered about smart tv features. I'd say 85% of my viewing is 4 minutes surfing video from my iPhone via Airplay or 4K Vimeo Films streamed.

@Mjmeldo

So if the AVANT really is doing such a great job, why bring in the cavalierly of vintage gems? Smile

I did try the Avant because the design was appealing, but the sound of the internal speakers, although impressive, simply bottoms out at higher levels.

That is,-  unless you bring in the cavalierlyStick out tongue

I'd be more concerned about the White HVAC grille behind the Avant as it would distract the h##l out of me !

I know what you mean about the BV6 sound. We have a 23" on the wall on our top landing and it is most impressive. It sounds like you're not in the market for an Avant? Our children find the iPlayer with headphones pretty immersive.

Well.. I love the design firstly of the beolab 1.

The television is clearly complemented by the other speakers.

I also have a full surround setup in this room.

We have the avant in the upstairs room with this setup

Downstairs I have all ALT speakers. While they're different I do t know if it's better.

Obviously the lab 5s, for stereo, can't be topped by my other options.

As far as a true tv speaker the avant is better than 7.4.

It's different than the 7.1-2-6 but I don't know if I'd say better.

Yes - or simply because they have changed the old deep fat fryer oil for cooking the chips in. Same oil, same potatoes, just fresher chips.

But that is exactly what I have said!!

BL7.6 = great hardware - always will be better than the Avants sound bar

BV7-55 = dated DSP/Sound processing - will never be as good as the DSP in B&O latest Flagship TV

Overall, the relative youth and knowhow of the Avant engineering trumps.

I just set up the TV and music sources normally, play at normal levels for a 5m x 7m room. Both the fronts, surrounds and centre do their bit. Avants Wide L and Wide R are configured off in all modes apart from TV Sound mode.

PP - I quite fancy trying this using line out from my Sony tv and a 7.1 or 7.2 - only have a relatively small tv room. That would work ok, right?

Yep, that should work fine - just check the television menus to ensure you can set the line-out to be volume controlled rather than fixed level.

Also, if you use a 5V DC power supply for the trigger instead of the batteries (an old USB phone charger is ideal for this, or you can buy a suitable trigger kit from Steve @ Sounds Heavenly) and plug it into one of those sensing power strips (the type that were designed to power off your printer, monitor, etc when your computer was turned off) then you can have the BL7 seamless switch on and off with the television.

Martin.

Customs do the job for us. Their registration systems reveal the new products:

Beovision 14-40

Beovision 14-55

and

BeoVision Avant 55 NG (probably stands for New Generation)

Interesting though is that motorized stands are shipped as 'office furniture' and televisions as 'video conferencing equipment'.

Secondly, pictures and test reports from the Beoremote One BT are being released on June 15th, so I assume before this date new products will be announced. At lease we're able to see how the new remote will look like :-)

Also to be released somewhere in the near future: Beoplay H5. This should be a wireless headphone product of the B&O PLAY-brand. I couldn't find more information.

Philips once had a Pronto Pro NG, and the NG stood for Next Generation.

I suppose they couldn't say Generation Next, because from memory, Pepsi used that slogan already.

That might just the back of the BV11-46. The quick access bay was removed from later BV-11's, so it is unlikely that they will go back. Or is it?! Huh?

Well, - according to a very unreliable source, the new "Smart" TV platform has been replaced by a "Snart " platform, as a last gesture from the departing CEO. Big Smile

Snart... Is the danish word for soon, - if ever...
