For a worlwide invitation I would have expected a bit more, honestly.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
MM that's my fault, I commented that it was fab 60s retro to me :)
Paolo, I was thinking the same thing - that Hardgraft may make a case. They are really nice to deal with, you can always Email them and ask them :)
I think that it's been taken off Instagram already :(

Has it got a line in 3.5mm just in case I wanted to plug an iPod classic in??

Hi plumber77,
Yes, it has! You just need this cable to plug in your iPod classic to the A1: http://soundsheavenly.com/bo-play/153-premium-braided-cable-for-beoplay-a1-a2-a6-s3-beolit-12-beolit-15-with-metal-plugs.html

Hi Steve,
I am getting curious now... I also listened to "No Sanctuary Here" by Chris Jones when I demo'ed the Beolab 90, and the quality really blew me away. It is one of the best recordings I have ever listened to, great dynamic range, great detail, etc. It goes to show that regardless of the type of music you listen to, whether it is MP3 or Hi-Res, what will always make the difference is the quality of the recording in the first place.
You mention that it is one of the BL 90 test tracks. Do you by any chance have a list of the other test tracks B&O used? I would love to test them at home...
Thanks!
Kind regards, Klaus

Hi Klaus,
There doesn't appear to be a fixed "playlist" for Beolab 90, just a list of suggested tracks. These generally seem to be based on Geoff Martin's Spotify playlist (which I'm sure he won't mind me mentioning as he has made this publicly available online to follow).
In particular the sections marked "Test tracks: Bass" and "Test tracks: Punch" can be very good for speaker evaluation.

Very strange indeed!
The announcement for the 21th is on the B&O facebook site - not on the B&O Play site.
On Instagram and Twitter too.
'So what are we launching? It’s time for the big revelation of this spring!
Join us in selected Bang & Olufsen stores around the world to celebrate the look of sound,
where you can also win the newest device of the B&O range.'
The linked site is from the blog site on the main/corporate site, but you can't find it by clicking 'blog' there:
http://blog.bang-olufsen.com/the-look-of-sound-global-celebration/
The shop in Cph is mentioned - they really should know.
There were (few) samples of the A1 (green and gree/natural) distributed to dealers on the 15th (I only know of DK).
There are none really for sale - no launch yet.
I am just wondering, if they really want to make a worlwide invitation because of this small speaker?
As good as it is (and it is good!) - personally I expect something else from a workdwide invitation from B&O.
(OK - they probably want to promote the BS35 that day too).
All this said, go check it anyway - you won't regret it.
Another small hijack:
The No Sanctuary track (or the album) is not available on any streaming service, that I know of.
Please correct me, if I am wrong!
You however, can find it here:
http://www.last.fm/music/Chris+Jones/_/No+Sanctuary+Here
I guess the version used for demoing on the BL90 is a WAV/FLAC rip from the actual physical media from Stockfish Records.
For the A1 the last.fm-thingy will do, I guess.
Listening to it right now :-)
Does anyone know the approximate price-tag for the A1? What are the estimates, more like 199€ or towards 299€? This would be pretty steep, as you can already get the A2 way below 300€ in many stores.
http://switcher.oluvsgadgets.net/
249€
A2 has more power, so better to take away outside, but for my office the A1 is a perfect solution (small, more than enough power) and i prefer the colour of the sound. Less deep, but mids and highs are so clear - i love it
Actually, when I listened to this track on the Beolab 90s (at B&O Strøget in Copenhagen), the loudspeakers had only recently been released. The B&O guy apologized, as he was waiting for a software update, which meant that he could only demonstrate the loudspeakers with Deezer. So I listened to this song via Deezer, but maybe it isn't available there anymore. I have it on CD now anyway...

Sorry, double post
Great stuff, many thanks!
But not in Australia
I was told. that they (in DK) are sold for 1899 DKK (= roundabout 250 €).

Tested the line-in with my old iPod Touch using a normal mini-jack cable.
That works well.
I played som FLAC files. Whether there is a noticeable difference in the SQ this way, I really can't tell.
There are too many variables for this kind of comparison - especially the volume level of the output and the sensibility of the input.
If you can bluetooth the source, you will be fine, I guess.
After all this is a small speaker - just for the go ;-)
The line-in does not seem to have auto sense.
I let the Pod plugged in, not playing and the A1 went to standby after approximately 10 minutes.
I had to push the small on button of the A1 to activate it.
No problem in daily use, but - if anyone would think of it - it will be a bit unpractical to use it as a tv-speaker.
Maybe if you let the power supply plugged in, it would stay on (another test - some time)??
And which tv nowadays has an analog-out (apart from a BV)?
Come on - pay me a visit, elephant

the A2 sounds honky, very uneven mids-response and the deep bass gets lost above half volume anyhow due to strong dynamics processing. I liked the omnidirectional approach though, the sound didn't change much regardless where one stood. I am really curious to hear the A1, maybe they tuned it more natural this time, but 250 is higher than what I expected.
Are there 2 drivers inside, or is it a mono speaker? Does it produce any kind of stereo separation even if minimal? Because a single S3 can sometimes sound a bit off as both channels are mixed into mono.
paolomariano:I did it yesterday I will let you know what they say
paolomariano: ...Hold onto the good.
...Hold onto the good.
They surely make nice things - but paying almost as much for a bag for the A1 as the A1 itself costs, is not something, that everybody would do.
I guess I'll have a look at a headphone case of some kind - there must be sometime, that fits.
'Something, that fits' - was meant.

£199 for A1 in UK from Saturday.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

You can actually find the No Sanctuary track on the danish "TDC Play" streaming service in 2 different versions...
or you simply buy the CD or "Hybrid SACD" and enjoy it in full quality as it was intended. You have to buy the Stockfish Records CD as they love highest recording standards.
It's this one: http://www.amazon.de/Closer-Music-Stockfisc-Various/dp/B0002XV2MA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1461139279&sr=8-3&keywords=chris+jones+no+sanctuary+here

I think the greatest thing about this product, is that it will introduce a new young generation to B&O, and even Whathfi was touting it as something you should consider taking to Glastonbury.
It doesn't feel or look like a Beoplay product, but it does feel like the first decent original Bang and Olufsen design in years.
