There are two colours :) If the aluminium wasn't a colour it would be transparent :)
I agree Hiort great movie & website :)
Millemissen:If anyone find a suitable case for the A1 (for transport), feel free to post it here! I had a look at different headphone cases - they are either all too big or too small. MM There is a tv - and there is a BV.
Yes I agree Paolo, i'm sure that it'll be very nice :)

I am almost sure that Hard Graft will release one...
I had just spoken with Hard Graft this morning. They said that there are no plans to make a case for the A1, but that they aren't ruling it out.
BeoBoy68:Not agree with Hiort There is one color only Green. Gray is in anodized aluminum.
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

Every color is, especially with B&O as that's one of their claims to fame, working with aluminum. Aluminum is darned hard to paint. Most planes I've seen require a heavy coat of zinc chromate a a base before you can get any paint to stick to it.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Question can the A1 be charged while being used?
Yes - it can be charged while being used!

Thanks for that MM. I too was wondering the same question :) I'm treating myself to one for my birthday :)
Hi Rudi!
Enjoy your A1!
Bought the silver one today and had no previous experience with the brand except for the Beosound 8. Last year realky wanted the A9 to upgrade my soundsystem in the living room, but a two year old toddler running around the house, her magic markers and the A9 on the floor are not the greatest combo....
Ended up with Naim's Muso safely placed on a cabinet, the A6 wasn't out yet, would have got that one instead. But the Muso isn't exactly a bad choice either.
Back to the A1. I'm no Hifi specialist so I will keep it short, this thing just sounds terrific. Every time i pick it up and hear and feel the sound it produces, one big smile on my face! Had numerous (low budget) portable bluetooth speakers before but nothing comes close to this one!
Did not immediately understand the missing aptX codec, but the fact IOS mobile devices do not support it could be a hint...;). With aptX support difference in sound quality would have been even smaller between wired and wireless connection.
A nice chic "always" battery indicator would have been nice as well, more then enough space to create a clear row of leds or other solution.
I think it is a marvellous move from B&O for creating this entry level sound jewel, should attract lots of people to the brand ! They really need to make a hurry with offering different colours. I picked the one i disliked the least. (Malediven Blue please?) Luckily my B&O dealer already was informed two new colours will be introduced in just a few months time.
Oh yeah, the making of movie ?? Why? To me it looked the thing was designed and built during the weekly handcraft-afternoon in the average retirement building (with all do respect for Mrs Cecilie Manz obviously). I would have spiced it up a click or 23 to awake the spending youngsters !
Sorry, quadruple post. Cant seem to fix it myself, hopefully a moderator can help
Looks like this:
You can see it in the app as well.
Strange - the icon of the A1 is an A2
When will this app be ready for android?
Why must it take so long!!!
I'm not sure about AMP Seanie but the standard iPhone charger is 5 watt whilst Apple sell one that's 12 watt. I believe that is supplied with the iPad but it says that it's suitable for the iPhone too. I think the one that was supplied with the Apple AV lead that I bought must be a 12 watt as it seems to charge my iPhone a lot quicker than the supplied 5 watt one does :)
I reckon the I could use the USB-C one that came with my MacBook Retina to charge the A1 :) Think i' trading the gold MacBook in for the Rose Gold as I love the colour :) I'm a confident man when it comes to colour :)
Very chic BeoGreg!!!
Seanie_230:Sitting in the garden listening to Troy Sivan via my A1 Keeps turning itself down while charging as it gets low on power. I am using a 2amp Samsung socket and this uses the new USB which is 3.0 Amp so not much of a test. Anyone know if the apple charger is 3amp?

'Beoplay A1’s smart charging system will adapt charging speed to match the capacity of the USB charger you are using – so it will quickly
be ready for the next adventure.' - from the A1 website.
This means that it can be charged with different chargers - charging time may differ, then.
I use the same charges as I use for our iPads - just swapping the cable.
It is normal that the volume turns down, when power is low.
Well I heard one today for the first time and WOW! I'm well impressed. Very balanced sound, little distortion even when played very loud. Not quite as room-filling as the A2 but its half the size and two thirds the price.
It looks fantastic in the flesh. As ever, much better than in photos. Very solid with high quality materials used. Very tactile.
I don't, however, get the retro tag that some are using to describe it. Its a fantastic design but I wouldn't call it retro.
Oddly enough my dealer has loads on order but not in stock yet. Not sure its the best possible approach for B&O to launch a product at £199 and not be able to actually sell them.
I don't need one but I definitely want one so I'm sure I'll succumb at some point soon.
I call it retro because of its round shape and leather handle and to me, the B&O badge logo is of course, retro :) :) I always think that cars with round lights are retro and nicer but maybe that's because I like the lil Fiat 500 and original MINI :)
I hated the design of the A2 simply because I felt that it was too large and to me, it sounded horrible - so flat and lifeless. The A1 is the opposite - it looks amazing and sounds great. It's dynamic even. My ALL TIME favourite BANG&OLUFSEN product. I'm waiting until July to pick up one for my birthday plus maybe there may be new colours by then too and any B&O teething problems may of been solved by them - if any crop up :)
Here's another really nice comparison video. Once again, the A1 is the clear winner!!!

Honestly, when I saw the A1 for the first time, this is what immediately came to mind. Considering that this military issued canteen is from WWII, I totally get where "retro" and "vintage" are coming from - especially when you consider the army-green colour and the leather strap.
As a side note, a Google search will show a number of different holsters and straps for these canteens that would be great, if translated to a size that would hold the A1.
Hey Duels, I truly LOVE retro when done well - its all about passion, good times etc. With this A1, i fell in love with its design within the first second - instinct I guess and thats always right :) Just amazing. I hope that they can get this in Conde Nast Traveller, Vogue, GQ etc so that it gets the exposure that it deserves. My GQ arrived today and sadly the A1 is not in it however, i've noticed that GQ UK this year is being very complimentary to B&O PLAY and do feature or mention their range often. There's a page dedicated to a man's pad. I hope that next month that they will incredible the A1. The same i true for Conde Nast Traveller magazine. Its the most beautiful classy, contemporary, international read and my gosh, their readers would be perfect for the A1.
I'm looking forward to a nice advertising print campaign for the A1.
Earle, exactly my thoughts :)
*frustration rant*
