Another bargain was made today; a pair of U70 headphones for £2.20.- One side was silent, it turned out to be a loose wire that just needed to be soldered in place. Listening to some Alan Parsons Project with great delight Yes - thumbs up

Great set up Dinico.  I hope you have many years pleasure out of your V1 and your A8.  They look like they were made for each other in your setup.  Very nice.

You can improve a lot the sound of your system if you reduce the height of the Labs 3. Generally speaking, your ears should be on axis with a point midway between the tweeter and woofer (two-way).

Yeah but don't they show you you can downward tilt the 3's on the wall stands so that it is targeted toward your ears?

Nice to see a bit of love for the BeoPlay products for a change! Looks very cool. Do you use the A8 exclusively for music - i.e. they're not linked in any way?

I have my Lab3:s monted at a similar hight, but tilted downwards. This is only for music listening at my place. Works fine I would say.

I made a lot of test with my Labs 3 and other speakers (no-B&O) and I think to put them in a lower position will improved the sound a lot.

But is only my opinion.

I' m using a setup with  AppleTV. When watching movies or other content from AppleTV the sound comes from the A8. Great sound experience indeed. I stream music from iPhone and iPads in the house. Everything works really smoothly and I'm thinking right now adding a Beolit12 for the kitchen/bathroom...

Thanks :) Yes, they are both Tandberg TR2075 (first edition). One in palisander and the other in Acryl (original demo receiver from back in the days).

I recently sold my TR 2080 for around $800.  As much as I like B&O, they never made a receiver this beautiful.

Now that I think about it, I remember we had a Tandberg receiver in the late 70's with a plexiglass top like that. I worked in a stereo and record shop that sold Tandberg among other brands. Of course, they were way, way beyond my starving college student budget, I was lucky to be able to afford records! LPs to you youngsters...

Very good receiver the TR 2080. Yours did look great cosmetically too :) The TR 2080 is much more like the TR2075 MK2 sound wise.

Jeff:

Funny you remember. They had these TR2075 plexi receivers in stores where they sold tandberg to show costumers what they spent their money on :)

This is pure madness... And that's not even all of them - I just couldn't fit any more on the table!

But I know, that this is next to nothing compared to some of the pictures I've seen posted by others of their B&O remotes! Surprise

It's a bit squished in, but there's a fish tank to the left out of shot which cannot be moved.  Still looks and sounds great though,

Wish my camera would capture just how very, very good the picture quality is...

Hi Shout,

Great set up, I hope you are fully enjoying your luxury set up of the BV11 with BL9's :-)  Do you get much use out of your A3?  I think i saw Elephant watch Sunrise on it.

Do you only use the BL9's with the TV? or do you also use them for music?

G'day from Glen Waverley

Cheers

Michael.

G'day Michael,

This is my first big foray into B&O having only had telephony with them previously, and I certainly am enjoying it very much.  There's a lot of the old chestnut of rediscovering music going on in my house.  The BV11 also replaced a 46' Samsung Series 9 LCD from about 5 years ago which had micro-dimming full array LED and I thought still produced a great picture.  Compared with the new 55' panel, it generally doesn't even come close, although the BV11 is weaker with some black background work which has been touched on in the forums before.

The BL9 are set up using the decoder in the BV11 to be used 3 ways, either off when watching general TV, on with the TV for movies with the BV11 speakers set to then act as a single centre speaker and the BL9 moving to dedicated front L & R channels, then for music via the Apple TV the BV speakers go off and the BL9s go by themselves.  It works so very nicely I am trying hard not to buy a pair of BL3 for rear surround effects as well Smile

Initially I had planned to use a free Playmaker for my AirTunes setup, but was advised against trying to input the BV11 and a Playmaker into the BL9s.  In the end I took this advice and swapped the Playmaker for an A3.  Steve at Sounds Heavenly has a switch and cabling solution for my preferred solution, but at this time the novelty of driving the music via Apple TV to the 9's hasn't worn off, so I shall run with that.  I would like to have the option to switch the TV screen off when using the 9's via the apple TV in the BV11, but I don't think that can be done.  I am a big album listener, so I generally don't fiddle much with the music once it starts playing, and I don't need a 55' photo screen saver for domestic aesthetics.

I have to say that I do use the A3 quite a lot.  The strange design to the back suits me well as I usually sit with a lean on the sofa and the shape then sits nicely in my lap.  The BeoRemote works excellently I find, although they should make some of the icons bigger (B&O are you listening?).  What I cannot fathom is why the A3 batteries are set up to keep the iPad charged in the first instance, and don't preserve the power purely for the A3 speakers as the A3 battery expires long before the iPad will, although 6 hours is achievable at a sensible volume level with the A3.  I do like the A3 and now tend to take it to work in a velvet type shoe bag to listen to music rather than my JamBox which really cannot compete with the A3 sound.  I find the bass kick is so full for a portable device, I am cautious as to what surface to put it on as tonally a cheap table top does the sound no favours.

Cheers

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for sharing your pictures. The place looks different from what I have seen here for quite a while but there is lots of style in your place.

Thanks a lot

BTW: Newest edition addition to my collection, two Masterlink Junction boxes not worth showing here but I am ready to do a reinstallation. Finally got my new place yesterday and I am getting to love the cluttered place. Like bayerischer said somewhere else. ... She loves it, so I love it.

Hello Shout

Great pics and a lovely setup!

I have a V1-40 + Beolab 9's and also stream my music to the V1 via an Apple TV, and thence to the Beolab 9's in similar manner to what you have described.  If you have the Beo 4 remote, under list, and looking at the screen on the remote, scroll through and you should see a command P.Mute; hit this and the black curtains will close on the TV, effectively muting the picture and video circuitry.

You can also do the same thing with the Beoremote app. on an iPad, which is what I tend to use, as it allows me to control both the TV, and my Apple TV and/or iTunes library from the one device.

Hope this helps -

John from Melbourne...Cool

Thanks John,

Had to add it to the remote, but it does just what I was after.  I listen to a fair bit of classical and instrumental work and there's only so many times I feel I need a set of lions scrolling across the screen at such times!
