@Stones
Petros much know - he is one of the makers!
P.S. There is no PL-input on the BS Core, it is an output....
....just like on any other BeoSound.

Stones:The idea of BeoSound Shape is upmixing a stereo signal to the true image band on the wall. This is done by BeoSound Core in which the upmixing algorithm is essential. For what use is then a two channel speaker output on PL or optical useful? BeoSound Essence provides the same sources as the Core and you don't have to pay for the upmixing. I regard PL and optical input to the Core much more useful. Then I could connect it to my BeoSound 9000.
According to this video, if I'm not mistaken, the upmixing itself is not done on the BeoSound Core, but the Core outputs regular stereo audio over the Toslink and then instructs each individual amplifier to apply the algorithm according to the specific positions of the speakers on the wall. Toslink is already saturated with two channels of uncompressed audio, so outputting a processed signal for each speaker over one (daisy-chained) Toslink connection is impossible.

Exactly my understanding, too!

Makes a "boxed-up" core even more attractive as a separate product. Would probably sell better than the wall mounted version!
Ban boring signatures!
How about a boxed BS Core in the coming BV's?
If they could make the ATV-box fit in to the BV11 etc, they surely could make that fit in - - if they would.
Doesn't this make a "boxed up" BS Core essentially an Essence with a digital output?
Or are there other features I'm missing?
Stan
You could also say, that it makes a A9 without the speakers!
Basicly the same 'sources' are working within all the new devices.
However, you can't replace the (boxed-up) BS Core with a (boxed-up) BS Essence.
The Core has other/different outputs and we don't know yet, how these can be managed (and in case of the DPL-out, how it can be used).
Yes, I realize the Core is doing special magic while integrated within the Space, but I assumed "boxed up" meant it was "stand-alone" and not integrated with the Space.
Interesting you should mention the Essence being an A9 without a speaker - as this is exactly how I explained the Essence to the very junior sales associate who had never heard of it when I bought mine.

AnalogPlanet: Thanks Petros! One more question: I anticipate 16-module Shape would be appropriate for my wall. Would it be possible to start with 8: 4 speakers + amplifier + Core + 2 "blanks" and install additional 8 blanks already at the beginning? Then add extra 4 speakers at the later stage. Also, when adding (potentially) speakers to existing Shape - would they need to be added in blocks of four or also one by one? Regards, Roman
Thanks Petros!

What you describe is possible. The easiest would be to start with the full 16-title setup, and have the exact shape you want. Then later you can change some of the times from being dampers to being speakers/amplifiers.
It is a bit harder (but possible) to starts with 8-10 tiles, and then add more later. Simply because half of the star-rail structure will already be installed on the wall, and then the rest needs to be appended (and further holes need to me made on the wall).
Speakers are added in pairs. Not as individuals.

The upmixing is not done by the BeoSound Core, but by the BeoSound Shape amplifiers. If you have a "small" setup with up to 4 speakers, you could skip the BeoSound Core and just connect your BeoSound 9000 via powerlink. The amplifier is "pre-configured" for the upmixing and distributing to 4 speakers. However, if you go to higher number of speakers / amplifiers, the BeoSound Core is used for passing the correct settings to the amplifiers. So, in that case (of more than 4 speakers) you would need a BeoSound Core, at least of initial configuration of the BeoSound Shape and assignment of roles to the different speakers / amplifiers, based on your individual shape.

Who wants to get a preview of the BeoSound Shape on-line configuration tool? :)

I'm getting different price results with different configurations that might not be as straightforward as the price per unit. I'm seeing the cost increase being the same on some for adding one damper as well as adding 2 dampers.
This is because dampers (and speakers) are sold in pairs. There are two pcs per box. This is why if you have the same price in the case of an odd number

I understand that all the hype is around BL50 but the Shape is also new product.
Did your dealer already got it? Did anybody see the BS Shape, hear it, touch it,...? Any comments, thoughts,...
thanks!
The BS Shaape was presented (to the press) at different locations - not launched yet.
In Denmark we will be able to see/hear it soon:
http://www.beoherning.dk/produkter/hoejttalere/beosound-shape
Whether it will be available at that time, I don't know.
Probably wise to tease it early - would not be good to launch two products at the same time.
Or three for that matter, if you count in the BV Eclipse.

thanks guys. I hope it will be in shops asap.
I plan to purchase18 tiles structure but would really like to hear it first. I´m really curious about the "wall of sound" concept, how it sounds and how the instruments are positioned.
the press reception, limited though it was, seemed fairly enthusiastic - i wonder how the AV guys will review it, especially when its described by B&O themselves as more for background listening....
Stevegee:Interesting Hiort. I am also interested in how a smaller set up will sound. I am thinking of it for a modest room, figure I can always grow the set up in time if needed. As discussed on other thread. How did the Core behave? Did you have chance to have much of a play? Thanks for posting
I heard these yesterday in Oslo and was left really impressed. It was a 4 speaker setup. I own some Beolab 20s but with a 3 year old and a newborn maintaining a secure perimeter around them is becoming exhausting. We are moving into a new house next year so I am thinking to change.

BillC:Very excited to about this product. Does anyone know if you can turn off the sound field processing? I’d love to have this on my ceiling for Dolby Atmos and would want the left right separation kept instead of whole wall sound field. Alternative would be to buy two sets but that would double the cost

Hi
It is not possible to install the BeoSound Shape on the ceiling or even on an inclined wall. The amplifiers run quiet hot and they requires air circulation to cool them. When a Shape is designed, the amps are always positioned in the lowest tiles to provide air circulation.
