I couldn’t get the problems resolved and they got worse when I used my NAS or Deezer Hifi (elite) so returned it for a full refund. Now using Roon off my Mac and it is absolutely exquisite and 100% reliable. Will buy a small MacMini, load Roon and keep it hidden away in a cupboard feeding the BL90 with a USB digital stream. Check out Roon.

Are you using ROON with DeezerHiFi?

No, I just download albums I really like to my NAS and happy to pay for them to support the classical music labels. I had considered Tidal (which Roon allows) but heard that it isn't as good as Deezer for classical. Deezer wasn't in my perspective good enough for classical in terms of depth of material so Tidal is likely worse still for classical. It's great for Jazz, Rock, Electronic, Taylor Swift etc...but not for serious classical listeners. I have for now decided that for me, the best option is to download albums from Chandos, Deutsche Grammophon, Naxos...etc. Streaming services for classical have a long way to go. Have heard from others though that Roon and Tidal work seamlessly!

.

Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.

Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.

That is a very interesting way for classical music.

The combination of Classical Radio and Classical albums on a NAS can be an answer for me.

Need to figure out which NAS gives the best Core integration, such that searching etc really works with the B&O app.

I do not yet have ROON experience.

May I ask, how do you do the volume control ?

On the Mac via USB ?

Do you use the ROON app on an iPad/iPhone to select and control the music ?

On my BL90 and Roon you can change volume three ways.

1. Change using IR eye and Essence remote.

2. Change using BL90 app

3. Change in Roon

I use option 1.

You must try Roon - it is beautiful and sophisticated.

Thank you very much for the inspiration and info.

I am seriously considering a Mac+ROON as a source instead of something as a Auralic.

For the price of an Auralic G2 a nice Mac based solution can be envisioned.

This is excellent advice. Thanks you again.

I have now switched from Deezer to Tidal and installed ROON.

I am impressed at the richness of the experience ROON gives next to the audio quality of course.

Music listening via

NAS + Tidal ==> ROON on Mac Mini ==> optical BL50

Given the distance between the Mac mini and the BL50 the optical cable I use is an 8 meters audioquest cinnamon optical cable.

Remote control via

iPad mini with ROON and B&O app for volume and presets

Essence remote in IR mode for BL50 volume control

For Movie or Radio the Avant uses PowerLink toward the BL50

And on the go I have then Tidal on the iPhone and iPad mini.

In this set-up the BeoSound Core is not needed anymore so that will be returned to the Dealer.

Those, who are interested in the Roon software - and find a Mac Mini a bit to much/overkill - might be interested in these articles from an expert:

If you also have a BeoRemoteOne (IR) then you can configure it easily so you can switch it to BeoSound mode. Then you can control the volume also with the BR1.

I do this. Convenient.

When gong into a music listening session I switch the BR1 to BeoSound mode.

The Avant does not listen then but that is in standby then anyway.

And the light control still works also in BeoSound mode.
