Dave Farr:

My latest addition arrived today - a nice Beocord 2000 De Luxe RtoR recorder.  Looks to be very clean and tidy.  Now I just need some more reels!

I may set this up alongside my Beolab 5000 system.

Dave.

Superb, Dave. Is it the on a that Frede was selling?

I didn't know Frede had one for sale!

No, it was on eBay.de by BeoClassic (Kévine Kindji) in The Netherlands.  129 € but I was happy to pay that with the condition of it.  I suspect Frede's will be quite a bit more than that.  BeoClassic seem to be a professional seller and packed it very well.

Today I collected some (THREE!!!) beomaster 900's! They look great!

After some refurbishing two have to leave as I do not really want to collect much more than I can actually use regularly... Well a little more, but not much!

Picked it up for next to nothing believe it or not! Sadly the lid has a bit of a large scratch it but it works perfectly!

Very nice BO, a dirigent or bandmaster are on my wish list, but I will have to get one from abroad if I ever expect to get one! Very scarce in the UK.

And that Beosystem 6000 in white is just fantastic, what a lovely set, does it work? The Beocord in particular is very temperamental.

Tim Jarman fixed my 6000 4ch but I very much doubt he enjoyed doing it!

Søren Mexico:

Nice pic, 45° left behind the trumpet stand, The M70 grill makes me wonder why they made it that way, and not with the holes where the drivers are. Beautiful speakers Jacques, even the fly looks good with them.

Now post me a close up pic of the M70 badge/pin, if I dont find a pair I´m going to get some made.

According to the grill wonderment: The m70 was made both as mirrored pair and identical pair thinking of the drivers position in the front baffle. Which make the grills kind of universal for both speakerpair-types, probably because of reduced production cost. I have both versions, mirrored and identical, so I can confirm it. Comparing both versions together, I would say the frequency response is the same but the mirrored pair is better on stereo imaging. The speakers are fantastic, I really enjoy the deep, dry, tight bass response when they are in the right acoustical environment. I don´t need a sub, and that makes my hifi-world a better place to be :) On top of this they are in my opinion able to reveal a bad recording aswell, but of course they color the sound to a certain point, but in a good way that is.

Most of the the white gear works. All channels are there, servo connectors is working, the turntable spins and a good MMC6000 is in place. But all the components need an overhaul and service, not least the tape deck. Soon these things will be 40 years old!

That is some seriously nice kit! I would imagine it will need servicing and overhauling.

What is the story behind it? Was it all bought as one set originally?

Thank you.

Yes, it was bought as a set at a local shop in Sweden back in 1976 and of course it costed a fortune. I picked it up from the owner in Gothenburg, Sweden last week. The man that sold it had helped his parents bring all the stuff home, new and in unopened boxes back in 1976. Later, when the parents had passed away he took the system to his place och now, at a age of 69 years, it was time to pass it on.

I´m not sure what to do with it yet. I already got a similar system, fully operational but in rosewood/palisander/jakaranda but could not resist this one too. It´s my absolute favourite B&O-system.

Beautiful, congratulations! My favourite as well, together with the 8000 system.

I've only got one 6000 system though, and in palisander. On the other hand I have the beolab 8000 in both white and palisander (but I guess that you have ten of those, haha) :)

Wow!!! I have absolutely not ten of them and would really love to have a Beolab 8000 in white. Most of all on a white SC 80.2. Or why not TWO white SC 80.2: one with a white Beolab 8000 and another with a white Beomaster 6000 4 ch based set...
NOW we are talking!

Here are pictures of my systems - the ones I use. I also have occasional guests as well.

I never thought I'd buy one but I saw it advertised and I couldn't help it. First time I've ever seen one for sale in my country.

Arrived yesterday and I love it! Lovely to hold.

P.s. I got the Beosound and A8 headphones for 88 pounds which I think is a good price.

Very sweet! While it is quite limited compared with the interface and storage capacity of a more modern player, what it has over them is far superior sound quality, much better amps to drive the headphones than most iOS type devices. Which, after all, is the point I think. I don't need to carry every song I own around all the time, I tend to only load a few long term favorites and whatever albums I'm enamored with or are new into my iPhone. If I ever run across an inexpensive one I might take the plunge.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Absolutely Jeff. I have been pleasantly surprised by the sound quality. Yes, it doesn't have a screen and limited storage but instead of putting a whole album on, I mix everything up. E.g. like a Various 80's folder, Various 90's folder.....etc. Works really well.

Of course the big plus is everyone who sees it says "what is that?" Everyone has been suitably impressed so far.

Had to put one more pic!!

Not too pretty, but I think I can fix that. What I wonder is whether it has the 60 Hz conversion build in or not, as I found it on US bay it may be a US model.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
