The B&O labeled plastic reels are not particularly rare.
Beocord open reel decks often came with one so they do pop up occasionally.
The portable Beocord Belcanto came with a 13cm reel - a bit more rare.
The cardboard box for an empty reel, however, is incredibly rare.
Not many Beocord owners had use for a spare or replacement empty reel and even fewer chose to make this a B&O.

Yes! Nothing works!

But is there a unfurbished Beolab system that works? I will send the 4 bass drivers to a guy in southern Sweden  (Skåne - Scania) for new foam and to avoid more smoke from the BM I will not plug it in again before someone change all important inside that... those acers of aluminum. I think the only part that is working is the Beocord Big Smile !

So. My Beomaster 4000 is refurbished - by me!. Just needs the last adjustments - not by me! and after that I will find someone that can take care of the BM 8000 and the BG 8000. I would like Martin to do it but I dont know when I can get the gear to Denmark and if he is avialible and... I guess this will take the time that is needed and all affort that comes with it.

After this I need just one more piece: the BM 4400.

Quality control, I think.
The reels are cast under pressure and plastic was a fairly new technique so I suppose
trapped air bubbles, rough edges and other defects were not uncommon.

Hey tamtapir,

You can send this pic to Thule and they can extend their marketing campaign with it Wink

And the SAAB could also make a benefit from it but for them it is to late Sad

Is the set already sitting in the living room? How it does sound?

Thule and SAAB (or NEVS) got a copy each.

Yes, its in the living room but hardly anything is working: The BM 8000 gave a little tiny smoke from inside, then I turned it off. No sound. The two MS-150 need new foam in all 4 drivers. Now the Beogram is working fine but I guess it needs some maintance, as the Beocord - that also works for the moment.

No problems.

Tonight I´m using this Beomaster 4000 for the first time. I have refurbish it with a "kit" from Martin and handed it over to a friend for a last check and trim. It´s now playing for me through a pair of Beovox 4703 with new capacitors

So far, no problems and sounding nice!

Very nice systems everybody! And congrats with your BeoLab 8000, tamtapir! You'll love the MS150's!

Yesterday was a fantastic day! Look what I found:

I promised myself, that if I ran over a pair of BeoVox M 100s, I would buy them straight away - and so I did! Big Smile

I'm absolutely thrilled about this, and very honored to own both a pair of MS 150.2s and now M 100s as well - both said to be the best (passive) speakers ever made by Bang & Olufsen!

The BM4400 was bought together with them and was sold as functional, so I hooked everything up and pressed FM, and first impression was: Wow, they truly sound absolutely amazing! The M 100's work perfectly - all drivers work! The BM4400 also works except for AFC, the buttons don't pop up when I press OFF but it does turn off and there is some crackling when I adjust the volume etc. so that  will all need some attention.

Two of the M 100s drivers need refoaming, the wood has a few marks here and there and could use some oil, most of the frets pins are missing and they could need some cleaning and a crossover recap would probably not be out of place either. And isn't there something about that the magnets on these woofers have to be glued to prevent the woofers from locking up?

I am sitting and listening to the set as I write and I'm really looking forward to hear them after a refoam + recap. It's amazing how rich they sound even at low volume, and that's with loudness turned off!

Only problem is, that I have absolutely no idea where to put them... The MS 150.2s and  MC 120.2s are standing in my moms living room right now but that's only temporary. The MC 120.2s will probably have to go but I wont need them anyway now that I have both the MS 150.2s and M 100s! But even if I get them sold I still have nowhere to put either of the rest... Hmm, that will need some thinking. Hmm But I don't regret buying them - you'll have to be an idiot to pass an opportunity like this!

Keep up the good work you guys! It's some really amazing sets you find and it's great to see that they go to caring BeoWorlders!

If you don't know where to put them, then I might have the space for them...Wink Whistle

No - seriously. I hope you'll enjoy them (actually I know  You will).

And now to my latest addition:

Just bought this SC 60 (system cabinet) for my Beosystem 6000/8000. It's a BM 6000, a BC 8004 and a BG 8002.

- And then I found this:

- nice little ashtray: Beocenter price 1983 - Factory 4 CTV. (oh, those were the days - when they made all their TV's in Denmark...)

A Beosystem in the garage - thats cool Cool

- I can't do that, as i only have a Carport... Laughing

The closest I can come to that is an old Beomaster 900 in my home workshop.
I will not install a complete Beosystem there, as it's not heated in the Winter.

You will love these Rich, I listen to mine every day now, they will change to a little better (if possible) sounding after 20-40 hours.

@Steffen

I will definitely enjoy them! In fact, I am right now! I won't crank the volume up too much until I've got them fixed though, but I'm looking forward to hear what they are capable of at louder volumes!

And congrats with your latest addition as well! I also have one of those BeoSystems (BM6000, BC8004, BG6002) with the SC60 - all in white. It's packed away though. Same issue as before; simply don't know where to place it. Sad, as it's a really beautiful system, but true. Sad

I have really reached a point now, where I can't buy anymore. My room is 12,5 square meters and there's placed Bang & Olufsen equipment on almost every possible surface. I have equipment spread around in our house and something in storage at my fathers place as well. These M 100s are definitely the last big thing I've bought for a long time until I've got rid of something else. But luckily I'm also at a point where I have almost all the B&O equipment I've ever wanted, and I think that's pretty well accomplished bearing in mind that I've only collected since I was 10 (I'm 17 now) and have a fairly big collection. I only have very few things on my B&O wish list now.

Hope your a enjoying the fantastic weather we have in Denmark right now!

@tamtapir

It will be worth it in the end. It's precisely a month ago I visited Struer Museum, where this beautiful BeoLab 8000 system stands. They don't have any BeoVox MS 150s on display unfortunately - actually they don't have a single BeoVox from that side of the uniphase range on display! Huh?Confused

And I definitely think I will be happy with my system. The BM4400 has been put to side now though - I will post any progress with it and the M100s in the "What are you working on now" thread.

I just looked through a catalogue from the late 70s where my father worked in a B&O shop and found this price list:

The prices are in Danish Kroner. A BM4400 + 2 BV M100 would cost 7740 DKK back then which is about 27.000 DKK or 3130£ today.

When I was doing some consulting for Struer, I told them that they should have exhibits such as this one, or at least wonderful photography of their vintage top products, in the stores. Trouble being that people would probably want to buy them - but it would speak so strongly about the heritage of B&O.

Imagine if you had displays such as this one in a store, with the story of the product also displayed.

The difference in sound of S35's and S45's is quite small Wink

Hmmm - I came across a "dead" Beogram 1203 at the local thrift shop in the 5$ bin. SP14 cartridge included, loose belt. Took it home and shortened the belt a couple of centimeters and she's running happily. The cartridge sounds good - Score!

I might keep my Beocord 1200 and gather a complete 1200 system.... Whistle

Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.

Thanks BeoHut. Not so easy to find these oldies but we are looking forward  ;-)

If you are looking for BL5000 you should try on the danish sites dba / gulog / lauritz, maybe you can find nice exemplar for a resonable price...

All my newest aquisitions are coming from Denmark. There are lot of these B&O rare devices which are very difficult to find elsewhere. You just have to find somebody who is willing to send you the device. But Danish people are very plesent and offten ready to cooperate and sent the thing.

Keep trying ...
