Have you tried to reset the device?
Yes, get the message "The selected product does not support Deezer content playback" when playing DLNA
Hi
is someone able to list what works and what doesn’t on the mk1 please?
CB:is someone able to list what works and what doesn’t on the mk1 please?
Hi CB, Hope all is well for you.
You see the add too? 30€?
Exactly
May be from a Beoworlder?
CB:My “new” BS Essence mk1 has firmware version 4189 from 2018-05-22 Is there a better one? Thanks
Thank you Lawrence for your answer.
This BS Essence mk1 may have an issue... may be several:
- I can reach the configuration web page and enter my wifi settings, but on the software page, the frame for manual update is simply not there !?!
- Neither the BeoTool app nor the BeoMusic app nor the GoogleHome app can see it on my network
- but... I can play music via AirPlay !
I also tried a reset, nothing changed
Quite odd

You have to use the IP-Adress of the Essence and enter the adress manually into your browser. Log into your router and search for your essence in the network. There you'll see an adress with the syntax e.g. 192.168.2.231This is the adress you'll type into your browser and then you should see the configuration page of your Essence without any App, Google / Apple Assistant etc. There you should see the manual update button on the software page.

CB:Thank you TWG, that’s already what I did. For the manual update button, it's ok now (it’s only visible from a computer, not from an iPad !) NB: The BeoplayRemote GUI can see the Essence on my network, but because no music service is configured, nothing happened if I press play of course. The main issue is still there: only Airplay works May be flashing it again with the latest FW (or an older...) may solve something ? --> if a smart Beoworlder accept to send me the link... Thanks

Sent you the link via "start a conversation" on your profile. With the latest firmware Tune in internetradio should work, too.
TuneIN works on MK1, but only the HTTP channels but NOT the ones using HTTPS (most commercial radio stations use this I am afraid....)
Bluetooth control works, bluetooth streaming also. But the BT (Essence) remote has much less features as it seems: no source change or track change? Volume control works.
Chromecast is not present, also not able to get Spotify Connect working on MK1.
I am very glad my "old" MK2 is working again now, so I got all TuneIN channels working again, as well as Spotify and Chromecast!
The MK1 is for sale, if anyone is interested :)

Thank you.
DJAM is working on the MK2 (David Bowie was loud and clear here ) and indeed this seems to be using HTTPS.
Can you try to play Kiss FM Ukraine, NPO FunX or Sky Radio Smooth Hits and see if they play on the MK1? They all are using HTTP.

1.) How can I change the DLNA server?I had only the server overview the first time I choosed the DLNA server option. How can I go back and choose another DLNA server?2.) What's the "this content can't be played back with Deezer" error message when I try to play music from a networked PC in my home network?I only get this message from my Essence MK1 while every other DLNA compatible player at home does play the music without any problems.

Manually (TuneIN) entered flows/URLs did not work on the MK1, they do on the MK2.
PS: look for Smooth Hits (Sky Radio is only in the logo I see, not in the name).

I have a potential fix for this anyone needs it. The cost is whatever you would pay for a Raspbery Pi.(I'm using a $10 Raspberry Pi Zero W, but it's only powerful enough for a single station.)
My favorite local jazz station stopped working on all my B&O gear about 18 months ago when the station moved their offices and upgraded their streamers. After going 'round and 'round with the station and B&O I realized they would never fix it.
I solved the problem with a Raspberry Pi and a streaming platform called icecast2. I use vlc on the Raspberry Pi to bring in the stream from the source and transcode it into something the B&O gear will accept. the transcoded stream gets sent to the icecast server (running on the same Raspberry Pi) where it is available for my B&O gear to stream. I've added a "Custom URL" to Tunein using their app that points toward the Pi instead of the original station's streaming URL. The B&O devices are happy to play the transcoded (and http rather than https) streams and everything works as original.
If anyone else wants to use this method, let me know and I'll write up some instructions.
EDIT: I won't be checking this thread forever, so if anyone wants help, my email address at Yahoo dot com is EEAlexHay - that's the best way to contact me if you don't hear from me here.

Wow, that sounds as a great workaround laseralex! Am now using a (refurbished) MK2, so not really needed, but can be very useful for MK1 users!

ich habe die software 4189
CB:I’ve tried several DLNA Players for iOS, and some work, some don’t.In order to be sure the music is really played from the server to the renderer (Essence) and not by the app like with Airplay, I start the song and then stop the app. If the music goes on, it’s ok.* MyAudioStreamer (iPhone & iPad) : ok* 8Player lite : ok* Creation 5 (sound control does not always work) : ok
