is 4189 the latest firmware? My Essence decides to cutoff after about an hour and then i have to pull the plug to restart it and it starts working again.

Maybe services are decreasing overall recently?
Since a few weeks I have problems using my Essence Mk2 as Chromecast device. For months it was possible to cast with TuneIn, Spotify, Deezer, etc, and the essence was part of a Google home speaker group, but now it stopped working.
Playing with the B&O app still works, but since I have several speaker groups using Google home, this is not ideal.
The log shows "Authentication server unreachable, stopping Google Cast!". Strangely my other Google speakers work as they should.... Any thoughts?
Seems there is something cooking there, overboiling.
My M3 and the Essence mk2 (latest firmware) don’t appear as CC devices either, even if CC is enabled.
Luckily I don’t use CC (for sound) that often, but it is supposed to work....so?
Anyone else?

There is a tv - and there is a BV
BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1
There was a smilar problem some time ago - that was solved through an update of the devices.
Let us hope that the problem is a known issue and that there soon will be an update to solve it.
Millemissen:There was a smilar problem some time ago - that was solved through an update of the devices.
Strange....latest update for me is from November 19, 2020 (1.24.41627.xxxxx), but no problems back then. It stopped working a few days ago. I checked the Critical log messages, and there these GC Authentication errors start to appear massivele since January 20th, 2021 (2 days ago). Earlier in the log you can find some more of the same error messages, but not as much as this time.
Indeed let's hope B&O knows about it and can come with a quick fix!
Is there any support address to send them this, so they are aware of the problem? Thx!

I'll raise one too, same authentification error here which may explain all the other CC related issues.
Thx, I also raised the ticket/question there.

You can do that (at least on the iOS version) directly from within the app.
And you can make screenshots there directly to send them, if needed.

Regarding CC auth issue, all my devices with CC ver 1.28.102057 are failing (BS1, M5, A6) while devices with CC version 1.44.219548 are woking fine (Core, M3)
My Essence also has the same 1.28.102057 CC version (and is not working anymore).
Interestingly enough my other (Harman Kardon) speakers have 1.44.xxxxxx CC version (and work great) and my Google Home/Nest speakers have 1.50.xxxx and 1.52.xxxx and also work as they should.
BTW, sorry for being off-topic, is there a more suitable thread to discuss the Essence MK2 / Chromecast issues? I posted it in another thread, but that seems very inactive.....
You are right!
I created a new thread
https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/45567/328909.aspx#328909
Could we please carry on this discussion there.
Hi twg,
do you still have the software 4189 with fix for TuneIn on essence mk 1?
br Søren
I do and you've got email.
TWG please send me function SW for essence MK1 ?
Thanks, but no tunein is visible. Do you know what I do wrong?
RKAP: Message sent.
Hi TWGany chance you could share the file with me?Thanks in advance,Ben
I'd be very grateful for a copy as well - if at all possibleThanks in advance,Ben
@lob4475: Done.
ThanksSadly it did not resolve the issue.I still cant access all stations (notably none of Denmarks Radios stations are working). Some stations are working though. I wonders if DR has changed to a higher bitrate or something.I've tried reaching out to TunIn to see, if they've changed anything:Any input is very welcome
laseralex: HAWK:TuneIN works on MK1, but only the HTTP channels but NOT the ones using HTTPS (most commercial radio stations use this I am afraid....) I have a potential fix for this anyone needs it. The cost is whatever you would pay for a Raspbery Pi.(I'm using a $10 Raspberry Pi Zero W, but it's only powerful enough for a single station.) My favorite local jazz station stopped working on all my B&O gear about 18 months ago when the station moved their offices and upgraded their streamers. After going 'round and 'round with the station and B&O I realized they would never fix it. I solved the problem with a Raspberry Pi and a streaming platform called icecast2. I use vlc on the Raspberry Pi to bring in the stream from the source and transcode it into something the B&O gear will accept. the transcoded stream gets sent to the icecast server (running on the same Raspberry Pi) where it is available for my B&O gear to stream. I've added a "Custom URL" to Tunein using their app that points toward the Pi instead of the original station's streaming URL. The B&O devices are happy to play the transcoded (and http rather than https) streams and everything works as original.

I've been hit by this problem as well. I mostly use my essence mk1 in the kitchen and suddenly in august sometime i couldn't play my favourite stations (Denmarks Radios stations). I don't know for sure that its related to https and can't figure out exactly how to verify, but one way could be to just try your solution. I do have a qnap nas running at most hours, so i suppose i could install icecast on that? Anyway, any help would be appreciated.Best regards,Ben

You could probably install icecast on your QNAP server, but I'm not 100% sure since I didn't do that. Are you able to run VLC on your QNAP server? I got the RPi icecast setup information from https://kalifi.org/2020/03/internet-radio-with-raspberry-pi-and-icecast.html. For audio transcoding I used the command line version of VLC, cvlc. Then I added a custom URL to tunein pointing at teh icecast server, and it all worked!
I'm taking a stab at the dr.dk stations. I was able to get a stream of DR P2 Klassik to work through Windows VLC but not command line VLC due to a TLS certificate error. I'll keep working on it and let you know when I figure out a solution.
Cheers,
-Alex

* Yes, really! 🤦♂️
I've already installed icecast on my qnap (its a one-click operation), but not sure where to go from here.
Im trying to read up on the icecast documentation, but i think there are some basics, that i haven't grasped. Icecast is the software that can stream - so in the end, it'l produce a URL that i can feed into TuneIn and create my own version of my favorite radio channels. But what goes into icecast? I can't just use it as a sort of relay station for an existing stream?Kind of like whats described here: https://icecast.org/docs/icecast-2.4.1/config-file.html#relayAs for VLC it should be possible to install, but it'll be a command line job. Sorry if i seem a bit confused.Cheers,Ben
