but this picture doesn't tell the whole story. We can't verify if one of the devices shown is actually not the BS Essence.
Don't get me wrong, I do believe you, but the picture doesn't say a thing.
Thx for moving this discussion (sorry for hijacking the wrong thread) to a new thread :)
Summarized my situation:
My Essence has the same 1.28.102057 CC version (and is not working anymore).
My other (Harman Kardon) speakers have 1.44.xxxxxx CC version (and work great) and my Google Home/Nest speakers have 1.50.xxxx and 1.52.xxxx and also work as they should.
Made also a suppor ticket, so let's hope there qill be prompt follow-up. Since the newer CC versions (1.4x and newer) are available on other B&O products, let's hope it is not that complex.

You’d have to believe me - do you see a reason not to?
My post was not meant to be a scientific publication - I just wanted to tell, that my M3 works with CC.....because I had earlier posted that it does not.

OK, now all of a sudden CC has disappeared from both my A9 MK2 and BS2!?!?!?
I mean, I'll raise support tickets, but I don't quite understand what's going on?

Mikipidia:. This is not so much a b&o thing but a google thing.
I guess so, but for some reason Google didn't tell them or anyone else, other brands are affected too I am told. I am not sure what they changed other than it took B&O completely off guard
Do you know which other brand are affected too by this?
My Harman Kardon speakers still work with CC as they should (CC version 1.44.xxxx) and of course the Google products themselves (CC version 1.52.xxxx).
First ticket to B&O support was raised last week, so should be not too long to get a response, and then see how difficult it is to fix.
Do others here with B&O products with CC version higher then 1.4x.xxxx have problems too or does CC still work ok?
I created a ticket for Bang & Olufsen and Google support on Saturday and Google support called me back on Sunday: It was up to the manufacturers to provide an update, they said. Google itself probably needs up to two weeks until firmware updates are rolled out everywhere and this time should be considered the absolute minimum until the problem is solved. Then I will wait. The whole thing apparently has to do with new features of the Google Home app, in which the devices can be found and grouped, and which is no longer compatible with some firmware versions. I recommend a look at the latest reviews of the Google Home app, especially Android, people are very upset and angry, and partly mention the brands with which nothing works anymore. However, my Teufel Streamer and my Primare still work flawlessly, cast firmware version: 1.28.102057. Strange though, yesterday on Monday morning, my BS2 was suddenly back in the Google Home app for about two hours. Could be grouped and also played, everything quite normal. However, that ended after two hours. So I think it could be that Google might be still working on some features ....
Thx for the extensive response. Interesting to see your Primary with CC v1.28.xxxx is still working, and the B&O devices don't, but ok, good that it is under their attention. I am sure it will be solved in due time.
Indeed the grouping of GC devices changed, at least in Android: you can now add individual devices on the fly, when already plaing music to a certain group of speakers. Strangely this already was possible since a month or two......and the B&O's stopped working last week. When I reboot the Essence, the devices is visible in Google Home as a CC device for a few seconds, but after a little while it disappears.
I just got a message from B&O support, the wrote:

Thx, just got a similar message from another B&O support employee. So let's wait for the solution to come up.
My Eclipse still works with 1.28.130012, but BS2 and Essences with 1.28.102057 do not.
Same problem with my A6. Long time that it didn’t work; suddenly it worked for a period of about 2 to 3 months and now it has gone back to not working at all. In point of fact, it doesn’t even show up on any app that I use it for. i’ve gone ahead and purchased a Chromecast audio dongle and I will reinstall it now.

I have to say that I've really enough of Google's Chromecast now and I'm going to set up another multiroom solution for the BS2 and my other speakers.https://community.roonlabs.com/t/ropieee-beginners-guide/ With the help of a Roon bridge, of which at least I know that it works reliably and also is superior sound-wise to the Chromecast protocol (Airplay even more so). I already have set up such a Raspberry Pi 3B+ for a year on a kitchen speaker and must say that I was surprised at the time about the good sound. No trouble, the thing runs, does not cost much and sounds great. I will now set up one more for my BS2, I also have a no longer used DAC lying around here, from which the signal will go out analog into the line-in input of the BS2. Irvine: i’ve gone ahead and purchased a Chromecast audio dongle and I will reinstall it now. But the same with a Chromecast audio dongle?, I'm skeptical about the sound. Because in this setting you use the DAC of the Chromecast and not the DAC of the A6. And that CCA DAC does not make a great pleasure in my experience.

FYI: Lately, my Spotify only works with my CCA if I have it in Chromecast Group. The app sees the CCA, but when I try to cast to it, it never connects, and sometimes it doesn't allow me to even select it as a target.
Honestly it's quite ridiculous that B&O can't get the Chromecast updates released before Google disables support to the old firmware versions.
I'm wondering for how long B&O is gonna support the low-end devices (M3, M5) with Chromecast updates, once they'll be EOL.
2 years or more?
We'll see.
matteventu:Honestly it's quite ridiculous that B&O can't get the Chromecast updates released before Google disables support to the old firmware versions.
One thing is clear: unless you are Apple or Google, you always have a disadvantage. There is a point where your devices become incompatable just because of unpredicted/unannounced changes.
Be confident: the Essence Mk2 is already long time EOL, and still receiving firmware upgrades (last one was november 2020).
Hi guys, my Beosound 2 is working again via Chromecast. I had rebooted my entire network, router, wifi access point and roon server and then noticed that the BS2 showed up again in the Google Home app and was configurable. At the moment, anyway, it can be played normally via Qobuz and Roon via Chromecast. In the logs under critical events, there is currently no error message regarding Google Cast. There was no software update for BS2, I had disabled automatic update. The BS2 is now playing normally for more than an hour ...?
Yes, my BS2 and A9 also now work with CC
The Google Home app has picked them both up, and Roon has too.
Both speakers are still showing the same old CC version, so who knows what's going on.
At least they're working now.

Response from B&O regarding Chromecast problems and A6 (A6 disappearing from Google Home app etc..) :
"Thank you for contacting Bang & Olufsen Support. I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing Chromecast connectivity issues with your Beoplay A6.I would like to inform you that our technical team is currently aware of this issue and are working with Google to solve it as it is related to their servers. Please note that the new software update will resolve the problem. Therefore, we request you to afford us some patience and use another streaming option such as Bluetooth or AirPlay in the meantime until the issue has been resolved. If you have other questions or you require further assistance, please feel free to contact us again.Kind regards,"
My BS2 started magically working as well (i.e. no software update). However, my 2 Essence Mk2s are still not working. . Interesting fact, my BS2 and Essences are running the same version of CC.
Overall, I don't like the smell of this. The fact that this was fixed without any software changes on our end (and some devices with the same software work, and others don't) means that something was changed "in the cloud", and it seems to be device specific. My *guess* is that this is a licensing issue. Everything is licensed by subscription now (not just to end users, but between businesses as well) so I'm guessing either Google changed their subscription model which caused bugs in the matrix, or B&O let some subscriptions lapse (which they've re-instated for the BS2, but not the Essence). If this is true, then this is very bad because this means that our older, unsupported products (Essence Mk2, A6 for now) will almost certainly lose capabilities over time. If there are licensing subscriptions associated with older products, it's easy to see B&O letting them eventually expire.
I lived through this once already with the BS5 losing Spotify... which didn't completely bother me because it didn't have Spotify when I bought it (easy come, easy go... and a $30 chromecast fixed the situation). However, if this is a trend, then, those of us who prefer to own our products long term, will be screwed as critical services die over time as B&O decides it's no longer financially prudent to pay money to Google, TuneIn, etc. to keep our products going. It is no longer just about software compatibility, but also B&O's willingness to spend money to keep our old products going. Will we have to wait and see how popular a product is before we jump in so we don't end up with a limited use product a few years down the road? I was very close to buying a 2nd hand BS35, but given it was not very popular, maybe not.
I hope I'm over-reacting, and reading too much into seeing two products with the same software version behave differently, but this is what it looks like to me given the current trends in the software industry.
@Stan
I rarely ever use CC on my Essence MK2 - but just tried it out.
Works as intended, no problems here!
My BS1, M5 and A6 are now back in business with CC. Required one or two product restarts
My Essences' are still not working. They work with Spotify Connect, but not CC.
It's not that big of a deal for me today as I mostly use Spotify, but if B&O continues to drop integrated streaming services, this could be an issue.
However, for now, I will relax and wait. Probably will not buy the BS35, though.
My Essence MK2 is also visible again in GC / CC and can be assigned to a Google Home group also!
Indeed same firmware version (both the Essence and the GC version are still the same), so it seems indeed to have been fixed on the (Google authentication) server side.
You can check this in the "Critical Events" log. You have to restart the Essence, because then an attempt to connect to GC servers will be made.
No more "Authentication errors" shown now (last errors were from last week, after the last time I tried rebooting).
So.........it seems fixed (for the moment), don't forget to reboot your device to test and then look at the log file.
Rebooting fixed my Essences.
My M5 and A6 now appear in the Google app again.
Still not possible to Chromecast from Deezer (Hifi) on iPhone to A6 and M5.
