so we just bought a house and the previous owners left their Beovision 4-50 (wall mounted) as a gift for us. Our other TVs are smart tv and we usually watch Netflix or amazon prime. I believe this is not a smart tv and doesn’t come with an hdmi port.

can anyone help me understand what exactly needs to be done to make this a smart tv or how to play Netflix or amazon prime on it. Sorry am not too tech savvy so not sure if it’s even possible. Thx

Then you should also tell the op how to connect it!

Good point

It would help to know what is the backend.

Perhaps the OP can say which variant of the beosystem he has ?

I - for my part - would also want to wait, untill the op turns up again.

Important to know, whether he has just the panel left hanging on the wall...

....or if a System 2 etc etc is also there.

True

And doesn’t it have to be a System 3 to get HDMI in support ?

Thank you for suggestions. Attaching a pic of the tv where the wires are. It is at the bottom side of the tv. Since we got our house repainted we have the tv off of its wall mount. https

Is that the only cable going from the tv?

No control box (what we call a BeoSystem) there?

Both MM and I are hoping that somewhere there is the B&O black box and also a B&O remote control !

And did they give you any manuals ?

See the pictures below ...

Remote = https://beocentral.com/beo4

Televisions (just for reference)

https://beocentral.com/search?q=BeoVision+4

https://beocentral.com/beovision4-50

https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=546

With the paid BeoWorld membership you will have access to manuals should they be missing

This is the black box that MM and myself are looking for

https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=961

Or it’s predecessor

https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=960

or it’s successors

https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=863

https://www.bang-olufsen.com/en/collection/televisions/beosystem-4

And from one of the manuals how they all are inter-connected included the IR-eye that the Beo4’s signals are received by and relayed through the systems

There is no black box it was just the tv mounted on the wall with some wires hanging which we thought connected to DVD player or their cable box and that they took those with them.

Then you don’t have a tv - but a nicely framed Panasonic plasma display (which B&O used with the - missing - BeoSystem 2).

You can get some ideas for this here:

That is the harsh verdict :(

If you have retained contact with the previous owners it may be worth ringing them for confirmation.

Also check what happened to the left & right BeoLab 3 speaker’s I think I see in the latest photo.

The speakers are included but there wasn’t any black box. The image I posted is from the house’s listing online. This is how they had it mounted.

Hate to be sacrilegious BUT here is an opinion: Toss the TV and get an appropriate size replacement with current tech, buy a simple A/V receiver to place where the BS2 was, place the BL3s CORRECTLY (and consider mounting one stop downward), connect the Speakers (using CORRECT cables from Steve) and TV to the A/V receiver, add your input devices, and be done with it. The BL3 are a treat and the BV4 not so much.

Or buy an original Avant tube set and a pair of binoculars.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

BS9000, Essence, BeoLit12, MX4200, BL3000, BV11-55

If the beosystem X has gone, you are right.

I suspect BL3s also went.

So you are doubly right.

I have a sense the panel was left on the wall for the same reason you made your recommendation.

All a bit sad.
