Any idea on the quality of the surround sound processor in the LG tv? It has to handle the time delay (for distance) and crossover frequency allocations for each of the speakers.

Hi DMacri

WiSA wireless system has now worked for several years from, for example, BeoVision Avant to
BeoLab 18. Or from BeoVision Avant, over a BeoLab Receiver 1 to BeoLab 9, without time delay.

WiSA new wireless system over WiSA Ready / dongle in a LG tv 2019 is described here.

@DMicri

Obviously Peter Pan did not understand your question.

As far as I know, there is only a very basic setup procedure with the WiSA Ready implementation in the LG’s.

We will know for sure, when the first people try it out.

It surely will not be anything that you can compare with a fullblowwn audio processor, like the one in the B&O WiSA-tv’s.

However some (maybe even many) people will be content with that.....they then have nice looking speakers along with a ‘cheap’ OLED screen in their livingroom 😉

Most people don’t care for or notice the suble things a quality audio processing may add to the mix.

But - again....let us see, when the results with the first setups with WiSA BeoLabs will come.

Now Millemissen has been negative right from the start.

Remember this is an alternative when B&O has sold their last BeoVision TV.

Hello,

I’m not sure if the following questions have been already replied in this long thread, in case my apologies.

1) When is it expected to have the LG WiSA stick available in the market?

2) Expected price?

3) What if this dongle is connected to a non-WiSA BeoVision? Would it make it the same as a more recent BV WiSA-equipped set or would we have some trade off? Would it make a B&O Transmitter redundant?

Thank you! Smile

1: don’t know exactly - but I guess with launch of the 2019 LG/OLED’s.

2: no idea, but not that expensive, if I remember correct.

3: You can only connect this dongle (means use with) a tv, that is WiSA Ready enabled.

Means there must be a special software on the tv (like with the 2019 LG’s) in order for this to work.

There is no way what so ever that this could work in a B&O tv.

Maybe you should answer the question from DMacri instead of repeating what you have written a hundred times already....

.....or just wait for more information, when the 2019/LG’s are rhere.

WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY
The wireless technology has reached a level that meets B&O's requirements for a perfect one
sound experience. BeoLab 18 is equipped with the B&O's Immaculate Wireless Sound concept
is a mix of design, technology and wireless sound quality. The key to sound quality is WiSA-
technology that works in the wireless U-NII 5 GHz spectrum, so there is always a stable signal.

WIRELESS FREEDOM
Enjoy wireless sound and grab the chance to decorate your living room without restrictions.
A wireless BeoLab 18 setup requires only one power cable per. loudspeaker and thus free
of allspeaker cables. Just focus on how the speakers best compliment your interior design.

LG explains: WiSA USB dongle is a wireless audio protocol so you can connect WiSA compatible
speakers wirelessly for a LG OLED 2019 display. The current implementation supports up to 5.1
surround. In the LG TV there is a new user menu from which to set up WiSA  speakers. To get
started you have to buy this USB LG WiSA dongle.

Good afternoon Peter,

Before investing in Beolab Wisa receivers and cabling. I would wait until the WISA LG TVs are available and read the reviews published to see how well their system works. If their surround processor is very basic such as Loewe, you may be disappointed.

Regards,

Jean

Reviews? There won't be many or any reviews that go into any depth on the LG WISA capability.....

Will be down to users / early adopters to take the plunge and provide some feedback.

One cannot suppose him in that development. A BeoVision TV is from LG.

I am wondering: The WISA specification use the term "line of sight" for the range,- 10m.

The patch antenna in the USB stick will be situated behind a solid sheet metal plate (the chassis) pinned up against a wall. How exactly is that going to work and what kind of range can be expected?

Good luck with that!

Wireless setup - Bang & Olufsen system to make a wireless setup with your wireless speakers.

BeoLab 18:
Set up your BeoLab 18 speakers wirelessly or with cables. Ensure that the speakers are positioned,
set up and connected in accordance with the instructions in this guide and the guides enclosed with
any accessories. You may also contact your retailer regarding installation. Bases and brackets are
available as optional accessories.

BeoVision with WiSA transmitter:
To guarantee a working wireless connection, all speakers must be placed within a distance of 12 metres
(39 ft.) from the BeoVision. Do not place any obstacles in front of the transmitter or speakers, as this
may interfere with the wireless connection. The speakers should be placed in one room, and all wireless
speakers should be visible from the BeoVision with WiSA transmitter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whether WiSA transmitter is built into a BeoVision TV or whether a USB LG WiSA dongle is connected
to the back in a LG OLED 55" C9 4K HDR TV must be the same. Not!

Millemissen previously wrote on the thread that B&O and ViSA previously worked together on a wireless
WiSA solution. Then it is clear that the same updated electronics that are built into a BeoVision with
WiSA transmitter are located in the USB LG WiSA dongle, adapted to an LG's OLED TV anno 2019.

The dongle will always end up behind the sheet metal. This is how its done in the Avant,- two antenna cables are connecting to the antennas in front of the sheet metal, - see the difference ? Even this solution is not always good enough!

If there is any B&O, I have a wish. An up to today surround decoder with 7.1.4. cable connection
of active speaker system from B&O to a TV of other brands via HDMI 2.1 (eARC).

Is there any chance we can persuade Peter Pan to limit his LG postings to, for example, 1 per 5 or perhaps 10 of posts from other people!

Continually banging on and on, over and over again, with the same stuff is wearing thinner than the thinnest wafer thin mint ever sold by the wafer thin mint wafer company!

I'm with you mate, it long since passed the point of being ridiculous.

But no, there is no persuading him, he doesn't quite understand that repetition, and the tone of a public service announcer are grating in the extreme.

but like he did with you, I'm sure he'll respond to this and tell me where to go.....
