My android phone does updates automatically.Today downloaded version 2.10.1.24350
Is this latest version ? (just to check if it does updates properly)

I cannot get the app to control my BeoSystem 4500 and BeoSound 2300, each connected to an NL/ML converter. The app shows the source and track that is playing. However, there is no control from the app. I can, however, control the BeoSystem 4500 and BeoSound 2300 from NL devices when the NL/ML converters are assigned as linked sources. I can also control the BeoSystem 4500 and BeoSound 2300 from BLGW macros. It's just the B&O app that doesn't provide control.
Millemissen:I see no need for ‘spit view and slide over’.
Sandyb:..., but it would be useful for those who do.
that discussion is exactly what I mean. Within Bang&Olufsen they probably have similar discussions, if needed or not going on for ever. There is no leadership, no vision, no strategy regarding the B&O App, when you see how the App is lovelessly pieced together and how slowly new functionalities and improvements are implemented. The result is an App that gets mainly negative feedbacks at App stores, because there are many frustrated users and no positiv convinced community supporting the App. But Bang&Olufsen probably does not care, because their focus is selling nice carved Aluminium and Plastic, that good software is the game changer is not realised.
mm08642:There is no leadership, no vision, no strategy regarding the B&O App
I see it totally different. Just look at the new great improvements of the logo background and the loading spinner. Really great, I love the B&O development team they really do a great job! Unbelievable, these new features will really help me! It's such a nice user experience to watch these moving lines, who needs a working app?
I agree with your irony.
Or in short, drop EVERY "improvement" of the user interface until the basic functionality works flawlessly.
Put it like this: my Bluetooth connection to the Core is dropping every five minutes. I seriously don't give a *** (that is putting it as mildly as I possibly can) about some new picture, animation or whatever until I can play my music without interruption.
I think there is a serious need to fire some people that simply don't understand neither the user expectations nor the financial situation of B&O.
.
Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.
Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.
seethroughyou:Product unreachable. Can’t add to play queue. Crashes and becomes unresponsive. No art work. Volume unavailable. Close app and restart no success. 2 years later and still a useless and unreliable app. Shameful. Really disgraceful.
Sandyb: B&O should j u st add Roon capability.
B&O should j u st add Roon capability.
Just wondering what you mean by that?
Since quite a while now Roon has been supporting Chromecast devices as an endpoint.
Just use Roon and the B&O devices and you are done....if you want to skip the Bang &Olufsen app.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Hiort:Sound distributed from TV to M3 and M5 but there is only a link indication on TV and M5.
I have added the issue to the list: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/38626/293441.aspx#293441
BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1
That's a limited Room use case, but yes.
You can stream to Roon endpoints using Airplay (2), Chromecast, or Roon's RAAT streaming protocol, but not mix and match.
If you want to stream using Roon's protocol, it would be useful if the B&O speakers were Roon ready in the fuller sense.
If Roon readiness was integrated into B&O products, even to the extent of allowing a BS 2 for ex to tap to join, that would be awesome.
But yes, I take the point - B&O products are not unusable with Roon.

Okay, you want the B&O devices to be Roon Ready (supporting the RAAT protocol natively).
A nice gift for christimas.....which I personally don’t think ever will be delievered - the vast majority of the B&O device owners won’t even have heard of Roon.
Well, they could decide to deliever.......in order for the few to have that as an option too - I just don’t see that coming.
But maybe I am looking in the wrong crystal ball.......we’ll see.
If Roon can use an AirPlay device as an end point, you should be able to join in to that seession from another B&O audio device, since the Bang & Olufsen protocol (with the right settings) is able to distribute AirPlay from one device to another.
Did you try that?
And if yes, is there any delay, when distributing the sound?

This aside, one should also know that a Roon license is rather expensive:
You don't buy Roon, you subscribe to it for $119 a year.
Alternatively, you can purchase a lifetime license for a one-time payment of $699.

Nothing against Roon basicly.
But why should people who just want to listen to (internet) radio or music from a streaming setvice often controlled via the Google Assistant want to fiddle with the somewhat power hungry Roon server on a pc or a nas (or even buy one of the dedicated devices)?
If we are talking about a setup with a set of BL50/90 that could make sense - the owners of these speakers often tent to use locally based music (on a NAS or pc) combined with one of the music services that boast about offering highres files.
I guess we can agree that native Roon support for the B&O devices isn’t that important for the majority of the costumers, or?
A while ago there were some ‘rumours’ about a B&O project for a ‘new audio platform’.
We still have to learn about that - whether it’s just a rumour or a real thing......maybe they are not that insular in the end.
Millemissen:A while ago there were some ‘rumours’ about a B&O project for a ‘new audio platform’.
Hopefully not, after Beosound 5, Beosound Moment and now the Bang & Olufsen App disasters I do not hope, that Bang&Olufsen starts a new software development project to burn more money. Before they need to exchange the whole software development team, because these people proofed now several time that they are not able to develop reliable software.A more efficient way in my eyes would be to go with a company, that are able to develop software, for example Roon Labs.
And Roon Labs offer with RAAT a multiroom protocol. I do not know what protocol currently is used by Bang&Olufsen for multiroom, but I guess it is licensed and they have to pay license fee for it. So they could even safe money on this side.
@mm08642
What keeps you interested in B&O.....just wondering?
P.S. My setup works fine - I use the app every day.
The memory of the good old days and the hope that B&O might still manage the turnaround after all.
mm08642: The memory of the good old days and the hope that B&O might still manage the turnaround after all.
Ok, thanks - there are quite a few few of ‘you’ around here these days ;-)
around does not equal spending money.
Sandyb: around does not equal spending money.
No, actually they aren’t spending money.....on new B&O gear - and why should they, when there is nothing of interest for them there!
Some are just hoping for ‘better times’ or for ‘the good old days’ to return.
And that seems to be enough reason for them to have an eye on what B&O does ;-)
whichever camp they are in, its hard to be optimistic, much as you may try.
But yes, while they continue to make nice looking and sounding speakers, people will continue to wrestle with how to integrate them with other things, or just hope that B&O integration starts to perform and function better.
