What if they're in an integrated setup? I have a BV11 and Moment in an integrated setup and was considering a Core and the Halo as a replacement for the Moment.

I now have tracking confirmation from UPS for my Halo. My dealer has said that B&O has plans for the Halo to become "a powerful part of the home automation solution."

Good for you.
I am still sceptic, but eager to learn how that can happen.

That would be very exciting. Wonder why B&O wouldn't promote the Halo as a key part of home automation/integration if it were true. $900 remote needs to do something an essence remote can't.

This looks like a pretty limited device to me.
And from the videos the scrolling does not look smooth (in the way that most smartphones are now silky smooth).
I'll see it in the flesh later today, but this looks exactly like what my dealer told me at the beginning of the year - the BS35 screen inside a wheel.
No album art either? Really?
Will report back once I've had a play today.

It's a pitty that the BeoVision Avant/14/Horizon is't supported (even if it was just to turn on/off/volume up/volume down)... Will have to stick to an Essence remote then..
Karel.

Let us know how you get on! I'd like one, but just wondering whether it's really £700 well-spent. ie. with the BeoSound 2 I can just turn the dial on the top to change the volume and it's hardly hard on other devices.
Also, I'd like to know if a device is playing a Spotify track, the Halo will enable you to move between tracks from its screen?
Are the sources shown only the built-in sources of a product, or does it include the sources from primary and secondary linked products?
Will do sir.
the looks are hard to argue with of course.
But in general, I think this shows a disappointing lack of ambition, given how narrow the scope is.
Yes I understand its a remote and remote only - but it barely bleeds into being a music browser or music system in its own right.
If it was 400-500 pounds (as opposed to 700), I'd say fair enough, it is what it is. But at 700 it needs to do more.
As Christian (from B&O) said on Miki's video just now, its just intended to remote control in built music sources of (some) of the recent multiform speakers.
The fact that it offers no direct connection to Beolab 50s/90s it kind fo astonishing to me (correct me if I am wrong).

That’s an important question - I’d like to know that too.

Right. I daily use my BeoSound 9000 and datalink BeoGram turntables connected as linked device sources. I worry that the people working on B&O's software have all but forgotten about legacy ML products. There's really no good reason why linked sources shouldn't be included.
For about half the price I get an iPad mini with a processor probably thousands times faster than this choppy device that seemingly has cut corners everywhere except for its halo. The iPad is small, has a retina screen and honestly a really well defined B&O app that already has all your devices in it. No need to program a remote through another remote/app. And besides that you also have your source materials readily available from the iPad itself mostly. Its wireless and charges easily too. If Im in the kitchen and cooking I always use my iPad Pro as a cookbook and spotify master. A simple swipe and Im in the B&O app, or I just simply adjust the volume with my finger from the control panel or buttons. This halo remote is not bad, but its 900 usd for a device that does not even work with any other B&O tvs than the two latest models. It's pretty remarkable.

It funny - in the Beohome in Struer they are very proud of being able to demonstrate, how a Beogram (and the Master) can be included in a modern setup.

That was another question I was going to ask - on the videos it seems the touchscreen is a little old-school (ie. the kind of thing B&O released in 2005) and choppy. Is that really the case? In 2020? Even the Apple Watch is faster.

I wonder if the favourite buttons can be used as a trigger for the BLGW/BLI and thus control a Beogram etc. The BROne favourite buttons can, and it seems the Halo favourite buttons work the same way as those of the BROne (they can store radio favourites but not Deezer playlists). I guess Beojeff will be the first to know :)

At the end of the day it appears Halo's destiny is eye candy for those who have the latest B&O. Nothing wrong with that.
I am suspicious that Halo is part of a grand integration strategy unless, of course, the selling dealer specializes in (also incredibly expensive) technology.
Those people can transform your house-cat into a remote controller with the right investment, assuming you can keep your software up to date. I already know how to reboot mine.

I really like the look of the halo! The wall mount version looks simply great and it seems to have great potential! The only thing that doesn't look very good is the B&O logo in the proximity sensor. They could have hidden the proximity sensor completely and have the clean "Bang & Olufsen" writing on the front.Bang & Olufsen could have a perfect smart home control companion with this device! John from B&O Manchester already mentioned Philips Hue (etc.) light control through the Google assistant. B&O should upgrade the Halo to control BLGW and NL/ML converters, Beointegration so you could use smart home features WITHOUT being dependent on 3rd party assistant features from Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon etc.
...and not compatible with the latest sound system from B&O - Beosound Balance!?
carlito: ...and not compatible with the latest sound system from B&O - Beosound Balance!?
I'm pretty sure it will be. If it works with the Stage, BeoSound 2 and Edge, it will with the Balance. Similar tech?
I don't think there's any disagreeing the new Halo looks good. But long gone are the days I buy something that 'looks good' and barely anyone is impressed with a huge remote anyway in 2020. Everything is voice-controlled these days. So if you're buying it for your home to look good, you're somewhat behind the times :)

From what I know, the BS Balance is based on a new platform... maybe someone has more insights

That's true, but I'm more than happy if I could switch over to a remote and turn off the voice control from my Balance. Call me old fashioned ;-)

ngnear:Can the balance be controlled by the B&O App?
Yes, but with limitations. TuneIn works only by voice control and not by the B&O App
ngnear:I dont see why all NL products can’t be controlled by the Halo.
The Balance is not a NL product as such, it has no music service such as Deezer, TuneIn or DLNA, it is "just" a BT,CC,AP2 and Spotify speaker.
Maybe all or some of the current NL products + Balance will be updated one day to share the same new platform, and the Halo will be able to control all.

I will be really disappointed if it is not possible to control my Avant MK1 at some point. More for music than TV.

The Halo a a Beolink-NL-controller.
The Balance is not NL-enabled (at least not by now).
Somewhat a mystery why e.g. the Avant MK/V1 can’t be included - in the app you can easily expand a playing source to the Avant/V1 etc.
Maybe we will get an explanation for that some time.

This is not true. The Balance has Spotify and TuneIn integrated, but it can (at the moment) only be controlled via voice command and not by the app...
My dealer told me that the HALO update will be available beginning of 2021
mbolo01:As an early BS Moment adopter, I’ll wait for Halo software v 2.x before considering it ...
I often get the feeling that BeoSound Moment is to B&O what Jar Jar Binks is to George Lucas. It's a mistake they wish to erase from memory.
