Razlaw:The technical sound guide is the only manual I know of. Everything you need to set them up is in it. There are is a good video on the B and O page from Geoff Martin on setting up presets. Add the 50s to the app just as you would any other product. I set mine up using the Technical Sound Guide. Razlaw:Buy the microphone from your dealer. As for the panels, there are three metal vertical pieces that go between the speaker grills. Gently pull on those to remove. The speaker grills then push in to place and push the metal panels back on. I think in the Geoff Martin video on presets it shows the removal process. Razlaw:I don’t remember the price of the microphone, sorry. If you can connect them to an ethernet cable instead of by WiFi, setup will probably go a little easier. As for the Power Link cables, if my memory is correct, I used the same ones that I was using with my 20s. Not sure specifically which cables they are. @Michael
Just wondering why the dealer from which you have bought the 50, isn’t able to give any guidance as for which cables should be used?
P.S. Did you already have a look here:

Mikipidia:in the same port for best performance
it doesn't matter a whole lot, but it's recommended to keep all the same for obvious reasons
There is an installation manual for the BL90.
I would imagine that the BL50 is very similar. Includes unpacking, moving, initial (vague) setup, calibration etc.
I would say the manual is way beyond what you would receive from a high-end Separates manufacturer or loudspeaker manufacturer as I think it is assumed the individual knows how to connect an XLR cable to an XLR socket etc....
Powerlink (PL) or DPL has been a little different (but simpler) and the BL90/50 work the same as all other Beolabs except for the DPL common connect (between the Master and Slave).
Ultimately, connections are down to what you want to connect and it has been a traditional B&O USP that the Dealer (clueless that they usually are) set up the loudspeaker of this class for you and show you the features.
Using the calibration service is simple but daunting at first.
I will try to PM you a BL90 manual for what it is worth but unless you are out of sorts with your Dealer, then that would be the best place to try?

Mikipidia:Cat 7 cable from the avant to master bl50 and it’s main pl port(rj45) and cat 7 from master 50, dpl panel(1,2 or 3) and to the slave bl50 in the same port for best performance
Hello again,
Are you sure it is a Cat 7 cable from the avant to master? I tried to find more info and used the global training videos as help. In that video the guide, Christian, specifically says states that a PL RJ45 is very different from a DPL cable (That is a common ethernet wired cable). So it should, in my mind at least, not work to use a Cat7 cable between the Avant and Beolab 50 as they are wired differently to begin with. Image here.I also have to add that I think cat7 is a bit of a bad way of setting the bar as even Cat7 cables can exist without shielding. And I also am quite unsure if this is even necessary for the communication happening between the speakers. It's not really a lot of data that flies between them and in a short cable I can't see many issues arising except for the fact that latency is key. But it would be nice to do some testing, which I will do probably. Strangely they advice not to use a switch in between whereas AWB forum clearly states that that is one of the main advantages of the technology (namely that it can travel easily in this kind of hierarchy).
Why would you need a switch - you are only making a connection between the two speakers.
In an AVB-based setup there usually are several devices (not just speakers), that are connected to each other.......and a switch makes totally sense there.

I don't, for now. But the question is not about what I need it is just a general question as I am interested in how DPL works and the future of it. For now, yes it is just between two speakers. But in the future it might very well be so that a TV sends the audio over DPL to multiple speakers simply using one cable that transports data to internet, speakers and everything else. The bandwith is certainly there. Either a switched network for speakers and internet each or one gathered network. Another reason a switched network might be necessary is a lack of inputs. As far as I know BL50 has two DLP connectors, and BL90 has three. BeoSound Core for example aslo has DPL so I suppose B&O is trying to migrate over to this platform. I am more or less confident that even BeoSystem 4 has DPL hardware as there is for future use-ports on them (but the development has probably been stopped for these unfortunately). So thats the reason, to begin with. Another is that more and more houses (including my own) has ethernet sockets around the house and in the rooms. Simply being able to connect your devices over that network and not having to worry about what kind of patching the cables are set up with would also be beneficial and less worrysome.
Getting the speakers standing and connected is not an issue. You do need to know how to connect the CAT7 cable but that info is available on line.
But if your experience goes like mine did getting connected to the internet is simply your worst nightmare! I am with Telia and apparently that is the worst internet supplier to get these speakers in interact with? (So B&O dealer tells me) Plus there is zero information anywhere on how to do this? I lost 2 weeks of my life doing it!! I am sure the idea is that your dealer make the installation for a price of course.
Your dealer should be able to lend you a microphone and the stand for it too? The app takes you through the configuration.
But forget all you know about plugging in speakers. These are something else until they are set up.
Be prepared for a long slog. Good luck.
Mikipidia:Yes Michael, cat7 double shielded is recommended. You can do others but if you get sounds artifacts or anything of the sort that’ll be on you and you’ll probably have to buy them again anyway. So cat7 from avant to master 50 and cat7 from master to slaveDon’t put anything inbetween that either. It seems like you’re trying to do to many things at the same time.
