Looks very nice, but 10,000 euros is absurd.
The Linn LP12 is a classic, and can be had for 3000 or 7000 depending on which version, and looks damned nice.
And most likely sounds better.
I think it's beautiful - and should be reliable as it's new....
I always prefered the look of my Beogram 4000s but they were so unreliable and without technical knowledge impossible to fix - I ended up with a Linn LP12 and have been happily playing vinyl ever since.
It's online at the B&O website.I'm impressed. Complete restoration of a classing system. No added stuff... No wireless stuff...
Congratulation on the owners of such a nice system.
Karel.
WOW. This is awesome. The approach is exactly right.
I hope it is a succes and we'll get more editions like this. I'd never compare the pricing on this one with a "regular" new turntable. This is something else all together.
BTW: I guess this is the precursor of the champagne editions of the speakers?
Furthermore: look at that box. Superb!

Jack: Hey have you seen, my new refurbished Beogram 4000?
John: Oh Great, it’s a 4002 but nice… Congrats!
Jack: I spent 10 000$ for it!
John: …
Jack: you like records, right ? Didn’t you had a deck?
John: yes actually a Beogram 4000.
Jack: Oh you bought one too?
John: Actually no I bought a second hand 4000, followed some tuts on youtube, bought some spares from a guy at Beoworld, and take some advices from that very same friendly forum and here I was, a fully working BG4000…
Jack: Ok, but the tip?
John: Same as you, Soundsmith…
Jack: but the warranty?
John: I’ve repaired it once, I can repair it again…
Jack: How much?
John: Dont know maybe around 1000$.
Jack: But the…
John: Hey Jack, fancy another drink?
Funny idea, but cabinet with tapped corners? They did that so much nicer back in the 70s.The dustcover is to dark and the black tonearm and sensorarm look wrong but I suppose the arms were made black to match the ugly black plastic-looking Soundsmith cartridge.
And it's still not a Beogram 4000.
It's a funny idea but it will never be a classic.

I do like the champagne coloured aluminium....compliments the black more than natural aluminium would.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
Mikipidia:As iam less familiar with a bg4000, what are the differences?
Almost everything but the dustcover, the aluminium surround around the platter and the look of the arms.Everything inside is different. The operating panel gives it away from a distance.
One half of my brain: "Hmm, It's definitely an impressive work of art but I'm not entirely sure about the colour combinations and the SoundSmith cartridge is a bit of a shame and wouldn't be my preference. I would also like to know a bit more about the phono stage. Plus, let's not forget that I already own a white Beogram 4002, so why would I need another?" leosgonewild:What I donβt understand here is why a huge audio company spent so much time buying and restoring old units. Why did they not do a new production run??
IT'S NOT A 4000 !!!!
leosgonewild:I meant that why didnβt they just make new parts for the Beogram 4000?

It looks you have read my mind (or my post)
Vintage Bang & Olufsen
Sandyb: Looks very nice, but 10,000 euros is absurd.
As they made only 95 pieces, they also have had ask 100.000€ for it, it would be sold in 3 months.
Those who will buy them do not know nothing about BG4000 and would pay any amount...

So now that nicotine color that I've spend hours cleaning off countless units, is now called Champagne as the latest fashion?Brings my mind back to all the 1960s and 1970s homes where everyone smoked all the time.Intended or nicotine, it still looks horrible.I can almost smell it.
In the still-frame while loading the mini-movie at the top, where you only see the technician's rear, his cart rails looked like a walker! "That's brutally honestly targeted marketing," thought I...
Even once the first few frames played and it clearly wasn't a walker, I still, in my mind's eye, saw that grey-haired guy in a bathrobe with wizened hands, shuffling down a featureless hallway in an old-folks-home! Was half expecting to see the "1984" girl with the hammer breaking thru. Probably says more about me than about the marketing guru. (Yeah, yeah, I get that it's supposed to mimic a hospital setting, pushing the patient into the surgery... Humor, y'all.)

Actually I heard from reliable sources that the pickup is a top of the line Ortofon pickup, not just a refurbished MMC1. I guess we will see.

People buy 100 million GBP apartments in prime central London.
Just because the appartments sell, doesn't mean the prices aren't absurd.
Its not as if these refurbished 10k turntables will be worth 20k in ten years time.
So yes, if they sell all 95, they will feel justified, but doesnt stop the prices being absurd.
ngnear: Sandyb: Looks very nice, but 10,000 euros is absurd. Only if they don’t sell them all at that price. If they do it’s good marketing.

Martin Also, Martin, if they’re getting 10 kEUR each, you need to up your prices! π

And hold back on the cleaning.
The topic is never what is the asking price, but rather what is the selling price. And so we will see, I guess relatively soon, was it sold out at 10K.
I personally need to save momey to even consider a pair of Beolab 18 and am not ashamed of that, but also not frustrated that someone might comfortably pay for a 4000c Champagne. ;) As a matter of fact, I admire this commercial-social experiment by B&O.
I am shoked. Did. they don‘t know their own produkts?
They speak of a Beogram 4000, but Even on the photos of their restorarion you see the old Beogram 4002.
A Little Bit funny but why not.
the 4000 is a real classic Player and in many ways different to a 4002.
Not only optical. Funny thing!
Jeg er fuldstændig enig med dig. De gamle trænsamlinger var meget smukkere og alt det sorte er forkert.
Maybe I should recreate some real BG 4000 and put an internal RIAA inside.
give him a new wood shape and the box I think I can do tooπ
maybe a good Idea would be I recreat a Beolab 5000 and Beomaster 5000 for it and give it the same wooden frame.
think oak would be beautiful.
and I can sell the hole system for 10000€ππππππππ
Could we take a guess at which one of their back catalogue units they will be "recreating" one hundred of in five years?Perhaps Beomaster 4400 (and call it Beomaster 3000c and give it a rose-pink tint)?
