So am I doing something wrong?

I have connected my PS5 directly to the GX panel, for HDMI 2.1

And set audio as PCM.

But no sound, so I go into the sound settings on the LG and choose PCM, and then there is Sound.

All good,

But I turn on the tv agian and it is the same no sound?

The lg auto sets to passthrough. Under the hmdi settings of the lg if the source is active you can set it to bitstream(default) or pcm. If you set it to pcm there is should work without fiddling everytime.

I may not have written it clear enough so just double checking Stick out tongue

In the lg audio menu you have

-passthrough -auto -pcm

-earc -arc

Below that you have “additional hmdi setting”

Hdm1 / -bitstream -pcm

Etc for all hdmi connections.

Did you change it in there? That should fix you having to fiddle each time as it should then just “passthrough” pcm every time. (Ps i think lg is limited to passing through 2.0 pcm, so maybe also check the ps5 and set it to stereo?)

Wait, So you would not recommend PCM,

That lossless right? If I use Bitstream it is only Dolby, not Dolby HD Right?

So I have to choose between HDMI 2.1 possibilities, or good sound?

That is a wierd limitation from LG.

pcm is only lossless if the original file is lossless. In terms of a gaming console I would recommend attaching it to the panel for latency reasons. If you want the best pcm audio I would say to attach it to the soundcenter but you could possibly get a bit more latency in gameplay. connecting it to the soundcenter will work fine with 7.1 LPCM but so far I have had no luck doing that through the tv screen. I personally think the Dolby actually sounds better because in terms of the aptv it seems to keep way more of the dynamic range in the audio, but try it and see if you can tell the difference and make your own choice. To me the aptv through lpcm sounds super flat and unexciting. I wonder how big the soundtrack actually is on any game to make any difference, in terms of streaming I prefer the dolby route. but it's a personal choice, my choice would be the ease of use and not have to fiddle if the sound quality is more or less the same.

Alright, Thank you Miki,

I have also made a bit research my self, and a clear answer is missing.

But for gaming I need to choose Bitstream for Surround when going through TV, which is like that on all devices not only B&O.

And Bitstream should be as good, or at least 99% as good.

So far so good.

But when I will play a Blu-ray Disc (Which is rare) It only output in 2.0, even if I change the output for bitstream on the PS5(A menu only available when you play a Disc)

In the sound information on the Harmony it is saying that the PS5 output PCM even though I choose Bitstream so the problem is the PS5

I will try to dig further, but if anyone have found a solution that works let me hear :)
