Orava:Now all corrected and Blondie is singing Angels on balcony
Would love to have her on my balcony, or Suzie Quatro or Bonnie Tylor or Jennifer Rush
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Using iTunes Genius and somehow I have ended up with Tori Amos and "Professional Widow" which is wearing mightily thin !
earlier in the afternoon it had been a Leonard Cohen Live in London -- some 22 tracks -- not sure I like him with a backing chorus
BeoNut since '75
Cocteau Twins and The Sundays have been frequent today.
I remember seeing Fear (1996) in the late 90s and instantly got a crush on Reese Witherspoon during the carousel scene playing The Sundays cover of Rolling Stones ´Wild Horses´.
OK Søren,
I am here, but I don’t see anything about your reaction to Il Divo and Nana Mouskouri.

give the lad a chance - he is probably having a siesta
Søren Mexico: I followed a good advice from Jeff (Piaff), bought IL Divo, IL Divo and Nana Mouskouri, Passport, for Christmas Nat King Cole, Christmas songs. Just finished listening to IL Divo the second time, Thank you Jeff, I really enjoyed this, I will have to listen to these very good voices a few more times just to find out which song will be my favorite, I put it on my Beosound 3000 with the BL 8000s connected, it will be difficult to find a better combination in my house, maybe when the BM 4400 is finished with the P 45s can do it, worth a try. Nana Mouskouri's voice recommend it self. Amazing. Nat King Cole, good one for Christmas I think I will put on IL Divo one more time, again Thank you Jeff.

Here it is Jeff, maybe a bit short for you, but I'm no music expert.
Hi Søren,
Short? Music expert?
First of all it wasn’t short; you said what you needed to say succinctly.
Second; I am about as far from a music expert as you will find, yet like you, I appreciate music.
Third, as you can see I am “trying” to learn from you, but I am an old salesman and salesmen never seem to shut up. We are a long-winded bunch.
Van "The Man" Morrison's 'When the Leaves Come Falling Down'. Great Autumn song, and it's getting cold here!
Piaf:Third, as you can see I am “trying” to learn from you, but I am an old salesman and salesmen never seem to shut up. We are a long-winded bunch.
Well Jeff you ARE the man with the words, I'm more to the other side, tonight I dug out my old Haendel LP, Water and Fireworks music written for and sounding best with the Oboes, I made the failure once to buy a CD where it is performed by mostly brass horns, just awful.
Discovered Dotschy via Spotify this afternoon - pleasant, but not enough to buy a "CD" (aka iTunes album)
http://www.last.fm/music/Dotschy+Reinhardt?ac=dotschy
I think I shall try Nana (aka Νάνα Μούσχουρη) on Spotify instead
To compound the salesperson syndrome, I was also an editor, so yes I love language.
Since I am sharing my music tips, may I humbly suggest Jane Oliver. I think I know you well enough, musically speaking, that you would enjoy this lady’s voice, an absolute cross between Edith Piaf and Mireille Mathieu…. with a dash of New Jersey accent thrown in.
Listening to my Joe Walsh album via the vinyl rig

All my current favourites that I keep readily to hand
Just found this one, a must have for owners of older Beograms

So what? You can't argue with a sick mind. But seriously folks, the smoker you drink, the player you get. Got any gum? There goes the neighborhood.
PS: Congratulations on the perfect season

A great album for sure.
Thanks, I cheered hard for it!
Right now I'm working away at homework on campus - but not without my BeoSound 6!
Joe Walsh had some pretty great singles: In the City, Life's Been Good, Rocky Mountain Way, Funk 49 (not to be confused with Hymn 43)....I sometimes wonder if he would have had a greater career had he not joined the Eagles.
Also, he'll always be a hero of mine for giving Jimmy Page his double neck Gibson after Page's was stolen. You gotta love a guy like that.
Last night I listened to Tom Petty's Damn the Torpedoes on my main system. I just got back my BG4002 from the shop. Benny found a new motor for it. I was absolutely amazed at how low the noise floor on this machine is. My M70s never sounded better.
Right now?

Mr. Scruff always gets me in a working mood.
Just finished watching the very last episode of "Lydverket" – a norwegian TV-show about music. It's been running for 10 years, had high quality journalism and have been a great source for new norwegian music, but sadly it's over. No more money...
As a tribute, the norwegian artists Susanne Sundfør and Røyksopp joined forced and played two songs together; Depeche Mode's 'Ice Monster' and a new song called 'Running To The Sea'.
Really good stuff, listening to it again using web-tv! Can't wait for the single to be released!

Hello Søren,
I do hope that you will enjoy Jane Oliver, since it was my unsolicited suggestion. She really is quite talented.
Piaf: Hello Søren, I do hope that you will enjoy Jane Oliver, since it was my unsolicited suggestion. She really is quite talented. Jeff
Hi Jeff, until now I have enjoyed your recommendations, this time I will have to wait until after Christmas to hear her, when ordering from Amazon I have to ship to McAllen TX, will be there to pick up for New Year. I have a lot more up there to pick up. If you like a little Jazz try Norah Jones, great voice. IL Divo and Nana has done their duty nearly every day now, but in between I just have to put on some good old classic rock, I use that a lot when cooking, the foot gets better that way

I think the money is there, but they are dropping it for another music show with another target audience. But I fully agree, such a shame that a quality program like Lydverket is beeing dropped for some folk music show, or so I have heard.
Røysopps remix of Depeche Mode's 'Puppets' is also great!
We have Steve Vai 'Passion & Warfare' blasting out in the office right now. A little challenging to program in places to but still an awesome bit of 80s rock virtuosity ;)
To test the A9 I built this play list ... which is now my daily companion on my commute
Whoa, McAllen, TX is a long way from Mexico City just to pick up parcels from Amazon. I may never complain about Canada Post again.
That said, today I received a phone call from a delivery firm who insisted that I pay (are you ready for this?) $95 customs and duty for my Il Divo CD’s and book. I was so shocked that I asked if they were sure….. they were.
For Christmas music I have been playing a music box CD from the Vanderbilt Estate. The original was playing in the gift shop, so I jumped at the opportunity to buy a copy…. and glad I did. Sets the mood perfectly for the holidays.
As for the cooking, lately I have reverted to playing a couple of LP’s from No Fear, a mediocre and redundant band from Miami, but they have a good beat and what the heck, l like them.
And you are right, the food tastes better this way. Maybe I should try the Miami Sound Machine next. I feel an enchilada is going to be on the menu this evening based on the music.
P. S. I am delighted that you approve of Nana Mouskouri and Il Divo.
Hi Jeff: I pick up a lot more from McAllen, one set S45s, a BG TX2, a sub woofer black side, a variac, a new soldering station, a vacuum, pieces for a dim bulb tester and some odd pieces and items, I hope I get through customs without problems.
How could Canada customs charge so much for music and a book ???
Today I had some Danish friends for dinner, Danish Beef with soft fried onions, butter sauteed vegs, white potatoes and cream gravy, Apfelstrudel with vanilla ice. the most fun was cooking and listening to Danish music during the meal.
If you can, check out a Danish singer, Hanne Boel, good voice and good backup band/chorus.
Piaf: Maybe I should try the Miami Sound Machine next.

MSM is indeed funkalicious! I would imagine they would induce some sort of BBQ themed food for me
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
I take it that you prefer picking up things in McAllen rather than using Postal Mexicano.
Customs Canada is in a world all its own, like many countries. There is no duty on books, but as this is an Il Divo “package” they must have decided to tax the entity adding a HEFTY brokerage fee. Had these folks charged our full HST it would have come to less than $30, so someone made a nice commission on this package.
I have learned that using Canada Post, there is almost (note I said almost) never customs charges, and definitely no brokerage fees.
UPS however always charges a brokerage fee. The broker guarantees that customs fees are paid, however in reality, the delivery person will not leave a package, no matter what services is used without the duty payment, thus basically paying for nothing.
UPS dropped my Beocord 8004 breaking the glass, then “lost” it for over a month in their warehouse. (They paid to replace the glass panel.) And I personally saw a Canada Post employee throw my Beogram 4002 about a meter, in spite of FRAGILE written all over the box.
As such, pretty much be default, I use FedEx, which is expensive but comes with a lot less drama.
You dinner plans made me hungry just reading the planned menu.
I will check out Hanne Boel and let you know what I think.
Does no one else like classical music !
I assembled my collection of classical CDs by researching the rosette category (exceptional performance and exceptional recording) in the annual Penguin Guide
I am particularly fond of piano playing by amazing people like Horowitz who was still recording when he was in his eighties
Last night's commute was spent listening (via my A8s of course) to a TELARC recording of some of "The Planets"
elephant: Does no one else like classical music !
Of course...Zeppelin, the Stones, Pink Floyd, Beatles...
elephant:Does no one else like classical music !
Certainly! But actually purchasing classical music is a vast mine field and often disappointing. Therefore I am mostly on the mercy of our domestic broadcasting company which runs a 24h classical music radio channel on DVB (and on FM at night), and another commercial channel, which is sponsored by the Chinese and often interrupted with thoroughly annoying propag... feature programs.
I do have a short collection though; I've never been disappointed at anything composed by Arvo Pärt (Estonian, 1935-) or sung by Magdalena Kožená (Czech, blonde). Every summer me and the FS visit a festival on modern music (Hindemith, John Harvey, Saariaho, stuff like that) and I enjoy it immensely, but for some reason it never works for me when listening a recoding. Concentration problem, I guess.
