A very beautiful Seeburg, Jeff, mine is a Mexican copy of a Wurlitser, Nostalgie, from 1969 as far as I could investigate.

Hi Søren,

So you have, and you have showed me your jukebox in the past, only senility has prevented me from remembering…. until now.

I love my Seeburg, even more now that is actually sounds as good as it looks.

Yours looks like FUN, and I’ll be it will be!

a very different night tonight, my Dad brought round his Frank Sinatra, but I was really amazed how good the Reprise recordings are, amazing production on vinyl to say the least

the boxset comprised of 4 LP's that my dad bought back in 1976 (he said he only played them a few times that very hot summer in England), so we gave all 4 records a good clean, fired up the Beogram and wow !

we finished off with me making some Irish coffees ( with Magno Solera Reserva brandy, an Osborne brand and only good for coffee), some Nespresso coffee, Demerara brown sugar, and the star of the show, a bottle of Nata Montar (made by Asturiana) which was a more than adequate substitute for Double Cream 😘

SINATRA: THE REPRISE YEARS

Compilation LP Box Set

Reprise (WEA) K-94003 [England]

Released: 1975

50 Tracks on 4 Records (with Booklet)

Conceived By: Don Stone

Executive Producer: Ron Smith

RECORD ONE (1960-63)

SIDE A: In The Still Of The Night / Granada / I'm Getting Sentimental Over You / Without A Song / I Get A Kick Out Of You / Night And Day

SIDE B: Come Rain Or Come Shine / All Or Nothing At All / A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square / All Alone / I Won't Dance / Ol' Man River

RECORD TWO (1963-65)

SIDE A: I've Got You Under My Skin / In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning / Nancy (With The Laughing Face) / The Way You Look Tonight / Fly Me To The Moon / Softly, As I Leave You

SIDE B: All The Way / Luck Be A Lady / I'll Only Miss Her When I Think Of Her / The September Of My Years / This Is All I Ask / It Was A Very Good Year

RECORD THREE (1965-69)

SIDE A: Strangers In The Night / Call Me Irresponsible / Moon Love / Don't Worry 'Bout Me [LIVE] / One For My Baby (And One More For The Road) [LIVE] / My Kind Of Town

SIDE B: Poor Butterfly / How Insensitive / Dindi / By The Time I Get To Phoenix / Cycles / Didn't We? / Somethin' Stupid

RECORD FOUR (1969-74)

SIDE A: Love's Been Good To Me / A Man Alone / Goin' Out Of My Head / Something / The Train / Lady Day

SIDE B: Drinking Again / Send In The Clowns / Let Me Try Again / What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life? / If / Put Your Dreams Away (For Another Day) / My Way

__________

These tracks are a representative sampling of Sinatra's Reprise albums. For the most part, the songs are presented chronologically by recording date. (There are a few exceptions, and the year ranges shown above are approximate.) All of these are available in The Complete Reprise Studio Recordings, plus the inclusion of two live tracks from Sinatra At The Sands.

When this package was released in 1975, it may have seemed that Sinatra's studio recording career had reached an end, but he would return for three additional albums after 1980.

It has been a real christening for my Beomaster 1000 and Beogram 1602. This evening we enjoyed:

Bernhard Brink: “Liebe kann man nicht” “Es gibt immer einen Sieger.”

Christian Anders: “Du gehörst zu mir” und “Es fährt ein zug nach nirgendwo.”

Frank Schőbel: “Ich geh’ vom Nordpol zum Sűdpol”

Jűrgen Marcus: “Irgendwann kommt jeder mal nach San Francisco.”

Adam & Eve: “Wenn die Rosen blűhen in Athen.” (A Nana Mouskouri song)

Suffice to say it was an all German night….. for the fun of it.

Saturday I picked up a few new albums: Ellie Goulding's Lights and Halcyon, as well as Empire of the Sun's Ice On The Dune.

They made their debut play on my latest darkside project - a set of Altec Lansing A7 horns. BTW what ever happened to our Darkside page? Is that on the old forum?

At any rate, pictures or it never happened - as always.

LOL Big Smile

They are redesigned replicas of an old Altec Lansing speaker, the A7. I have deviated pretty significantly from the original cabinet design and the tweeter section in general has been replaced with a JBL 2360A horn.

They weigh about 165lbs each and are almost exactly 2m tall!

Here is a LINK to my project.

OK, makes sense to me. With that concept clearly in mind, perhaps I can get an exorcism performed on my S120.2 speakers as they make a most unholy sound! Better throw in a clove of garlic and at least one sterling silver cross. Person

They certainly do Jeff!!! Visually and acoustically.

I chose to build them for their acoustic properties, their 'statement factor' is just icing on the cake. This is what I like to call an engineering exercise - pushing the envelope, reaching for unparalleled performance. I know that sounds cliche, but that is my motivation. They are meant for use behind movie screens and for use in PA applications.

Their best attribute is vocal reproduction and dynamics, reportedly some of the best in the world. Secondly they have stunning low frequency reproduction. They can faithfully reproduce the smoothest tones and the sharpest thumps with the ability to do it at any volume level you want.

I'm still learning more about them the more I listen so stay tuned for more thoughts.

If someone have gone through all that trouble, they simply cant sound bad.

The project has taken me just over a year from initial design/CAD, optimization and of course the most extensive aspect - construction. I've been demonstrating these speakers to people at every chance I get and I am told they are outstanding.

However, my ears detect a lot of needed cabinet tuning as there are some peaky resonances as well as some potential port tuning.

The color is certainly polarizing! Unfortunately the project has left me without the cash to buy the complimentary furniture :-D Maybe I will have to make that as well!

“The lack of money is the root of evil!” So it will take you a bit of time to “tune” your creations and save for some wild looking furniture. So be it.

However, just as a suggestion, although a lot of the furniture of the fifties was just God-awful, there were some really “out there” sofas that swirled around equally interesting coffee tables. Found in good condition, this eclectic ensemble wouldn't cost much and would compliment your speakers beautifully.

We will see what I come up with. I will say, I do like the college 'chic' look I have going.... Monster stereo with little emphasis placed on anything else in my house hahaha Laughing
