A very old thread I know - I was actually trying to find one with the title 'no thanks'!

As the New Year approaches and I decide whether to upgrade my membership to Gold in time for the draw, I just thought I'd look through some of my recent activity.  One thing stood out when I looked through these relatively recent posts:

http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/22693/187605.aspx#187605

http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/22459/185628.aspx#185628

Anyone spot the common 'thread' - does this really annoy anyone else or is it just grumpy old me?

I suppose we just have to live with the fact that far from all posters who get help returns with
the results - or even a thanks.

Occasionally a thanks comes much later from a completely different member, who found the post and suggestion helpful.

Thanks Martin!!

I guess that's just the world we live in.  Actually, you hit the nail on the head there - rather than the 'thanks' as such, it's just frustrating to know whether the suggestion, advice or recommendation was indeed useful to the original poster!

I need to get out more :)

Yes, I agree.. Many of us will spend time researching someone's problem and never hear back, yes I am afraid it is the world we live in..

Also, apologies to all members who tried to access the Forum early this morning, but it was down due to a power failure. It was up again at 8:45am UK time. The Beoworld web site was not affected because it runs on a different server in a different location.

Thanks Keith - BTW I tried to upgrade membership about an hour ago but am still waiting for the 'activation' email.  Does it usually take a while?

You do not get an activation email when you upgrade an existing Beoworld account, that only occurs when you initially join to check you are who you say you are..

Please go to the web site and logout and then login again. The reason is that NO account passwords are stored on the forum server. When you login via the Beoworld web site which is on a different server it creates an encrypted cookie which is used by the forum server to log you into your Beoworld account. Equally, the whole Beoworld server uses encrypted transactions and you can view yourself the certificate as below

I have decided (for me), that this is how things work.

Otherweise I would not be able to (try to) help - it would be far too frustating to expect a 'thank you' everytime you give an advice.

But then again, often I learn something, when researching for the answer - and from the comments of the members, who not seldom have a different take on the problems, than I have.

I had a nice experience just a couple of days ago.

Some years ago - on the danish Peter Pan/Hifi4All - someone had a problem with her BV (a Bv6-26 if I remember well).

We were able to solve the 'problem'.

Never heard from her again!!!

A couple of days ago she posted again - this time for a solution with the line-in connection of her BS5 Encore.

She had remembered, that we had helped previously.

(Of course) this was solved too - and she was happy.

As a result of this Peter Pan (as always) has made a drawing, that he also presented in a thread on Beoworld.

I am sure, that this may inspire other users too ;-)

The moral of the story - don't expect 'thank-you's'. Just do it, because you find it right to do it.

Often another user will benefit from your effords.

Thanks Keith - it was the Logout/Login that I was not doing!  All sorted now as I think you should see on the left!
