Now this is pretty special. Snowball - An 8% dry, crisp and tart Saison from Tool who I believe are a micro Danish brewery.

Superb.

At the Fulton Brewery. Here is the Worthy Adversary Russian imperial stout. They had two special barrel aged versions on tap, one from a Port wine barrel and one from a Cognac barrel so, I had to order both...

Very different from each other. I preferred the cognac barrel.

Blackberry farm’s wild classics saison. I’m getting a bit of a taste for the artisanal saisons. This is crisp, slightly sour, dry, fizzy. Tastes Belgian but is from Tennessee.

I had a RauchBier from them that was fantastic! Nice to see they have made it over there!

While I was up in Chicago last weekend picking up my new (to me) Beovision 10-32, I came across a few beers from my favorite brewery, Shlenkerla, known for smoking their beer with beechwood. I decided to go big and start with the Smoked Doppelbock. Thick mouth feel with robust BBQ smoke that has hints of baked beans and smoked bacon. I saved the Smoked Helles and the Urbock RauchBier for later this weekend...

Makes a nice change from regular Guinness. West Indies porter version. Stronger flavour, very dark and, as the picture shows, a surprisingly resilient head!

You’ve gone mad!

How is it?

I’d love to try some.

Interesting! I would like to try that one. I always liked a good scotch that had an ocean like brineiness to it.

I popped open the Shlenkerla smoked Helles this evening. Very dry almost chalky like mouth feel. Crisp, light and subtle hints of smoke. Love it.

Yum !

I was in York today.

Tried this taster but not so good.

So I had two pints of traditional Guinness instead Smile

We’ve had this before but it is absolutely gorgeous. Peanut butter and biscuit imperial stout all dressed up as a racist (ironically) bottle

And now opened....

Weather is cooling down, time for a black IPA. Lagunitas NightTime. I cellared this one for a little over a year.

Lagunitas tells it will, so it must be true. I don’t remember that well from when I had the other bottle that had not been cellared if it changed much in the past year. Nice caramel fruit flavor with an IPA background.

Sounds good. Haven’t seen that one over here although we do get quite a few of the lagunitas beers.

This one has been fermented in the bottle. “Milk Shake” milk stout from Wiper and True in Bristol.

Very chocolate/malty and with a slightly tingly mouthfeel. Very much “alive”. Quite a bit of sediment so poured very carefully. And a nice big 500 ml bottle.
