Duels:Now this is very interesting. A Bloody Mary porter madevwith Henderson’s relish which for those who don’t know is Sheffield’s equivalent of Worcestershire sauce.
Saint Beogrowler:How was it? Seems anchovies in beer might be odd.
As I learn more about my new, local surroundings I have been trying to find the best Kölsch (only style of beer really available here in Köln).
Found this a few weeks ago and managed to track it down in bottles. Probably not crafty-enough for the caliber of this thread but I highly recommend it!

I guess I failed to mention that Hellers is one of the best I have found which is strange because precisely zero people have mentioned it here. I only found out about it after discovering it myself on tap at a bar in the area.
Currently my Kölsch rankings are as follows:
Tied for 1st is Päffgen and Hellers. I need to do more research here, haven't been to Päffgen since I discovered Hellers. Päffgen is my real favorite but they do not bottle and the smallest vessel they will sell you is a 10L unit. Hellers is a home run out of the tap or bottle, currently my go-to beer for the house since I can't have Päffgen.
Numbers 4-8 are just plain average. These are the ones that 99% of establishments in or around Köln will be serving. I'm fairly indifferent to them but there they are in my order of preference anyway.
CB:I’m discovering the various bottles proposed by my local brewery, here in the south of France. Bière de la rade (beer from the bay). This one is called the torpedo IPA with a strong taste of lychee Censored : pale ale, taste of exotic fruits and mango - very fruity The moray : stout, creamy with touch of roasted coffee and chocolate - nice Pumpkins Dead : pumpkin ale triple, strong Belgian style beer, quite sweet
