That will come, but it will be like the settings Beolit 17 has, where you can choose different "styles".

Why do they insist on selling these things with such a ridiculous bass heavy "default"?? Its so infuriating. The S3 is the same - it's great that you can alter the EQ by selecting different "moods" using the App but these only apply to digital, i.e. Bluetooth streams - the Line Input is left with the unalterable default setting and is therefore all but useless as a feature.
Surely a neutral default would allow all to use the device in all its modes and the cloth-eared could still annoy the neighbours with the "Citroen C3" Mood by using the App!!
Ban boring signatures!

I confirm there is too much bass !
I bought mine 1 month and a half ago, it's in the bathroom so only used half an hour per day maybe and not loud at all ! Since a few days it begins to make bad cracks on each bass like if it was used full power foreurs since 5 years !
That's not a good sigb if it even can't endorse its default bass settings !

Thanks for the tip, but I'm not so handy.... It works as you told us but a too long press/manipulation shuts down everything. My lovely wife was not so happy when the TV shuts down suddenly...

Does it stand on a firm underground?
Took the plunge and added a M5 to my setup.
Use it on my bedside table. No other multiroom capable B& device matched the interior in the bedroom.
Sound is good for the TuneIN and NAS music collection I mostly play. Have it set as "corner position" to have the bass reduced a bit. Will try timer and wakeup to some music in the weekend
Control require some practice. E.g double "tap" to switch source, but I´m sure I will get used to it.

Depends on how high you want to jump up and down.
No serious, I found it a wonderful speaker,, what colour did you buy? I have the natural.
it will take your standard sound-level, hiort

Just borrowed one from my dealer, just to check it out and see how it performs. It is for my bedroom. I must say, it sounds great, however I really really really would like to be able to change treble/bass manually, it has way to much bass, even in the corner mode.
And one thing, is it not possible to change the sound setting after it has been set up ? It is just greyed out in my beoplay app.

Yes :( Maybe a bad product. It happens sometimes. Not a big issue I will bring it back but if someone from B&O reads this thread : please, let us lower the bass....
Still on the lookout, and hopefully for the next SW update:
First priority: Would be very happy if I could pair the Essence remote again with the M5...
Second priority: Sound settings...
Alexa could connect to the M5.
Since my BS 9000 is connected with a BLGW to NL i can control music with Alexa in my main room.
On my my last party it was impressing all the guests :-)
Chris:First priority: Would be very happy if I could pair the Essence remote again with the M5...
After the end of March SW update, it looks B&O added again the possibility to pair a remote.
But as the app says its experimental:
"Please be aware that the remote support is currently experimental and you may experience issues especially in environments with lots of wireless systems and wireless alarms. If you experience issues you may need to reboot your product."
Anyone have tried to pair an Essence remote?

Would be nice to add an Essence remote. I find it a bit fiddly to e.g "double tap" , and also switching on and of laying in bed
I'm a bit puzzled that there continues to be no in-app equalization for this device (aside from the wall/corner switch). The bass really is too strong - I hope B&O reads these forums!
I have pair an Essence remote to my Beoplay M5.
It works like clockwork. I am really pleased

How do you switch source on an Essence remote?
Double tap somewhere?
One klick on the upper part att the filled dot, 12.00 o clock switch source on. A new click 12.00 clock change source.

That very good news, it was on my wishlist.
Now tone controls, to get rid of that booming bass at low volume's.

this is my first B&O product ever and I have to say upon receiving it yesterday I have been underwhelmed. I find this sound of the M5 to be very flat and almost muddy out of the box. you may have already tried this, but utilizing your Spotify equalizer is one way to immediately lower the bass and for my preferences, increasing the highs.
I was definitely frustrated that there were no total controls on downloading the app yesterday, and I must say that the set up complaints that many others have had weee true for me as well ( it read that the update had failed multiple times)
I ultimately decided to choose the M5 after being able to sample the Sonos 5 in store and feeling these exact feelings about it; it sounded flat. The Zeppelin that I sampled it sounded absolutely incredible but I hate the design. The reviews that I have read to date have been extremely positive, so I am holding out hope that tinkering with the set up and the placement of the speaker today will produce some different results, but I must say it is very disappointing to feel underwhelmed upon purchase of a $600 speaker. clearly, the tonal adjustments within the app need to be expedited immediately to allow us to push down the bass response, and be able to adjust the equalizer. as it stands, even the A2 I sampled at the Apple store sounded better at the moment 😔

Indeed - my ears couldn't detect any significant differences in the overall sound quality for open vs. wall vs. corner, but I did detect the bass decrease.
I'm certainly going to give the M5 a proper test run, just wish that I didn't have the deflated feeling upon the first test :-)
Does anyone have any experience in with the cross-shop options (Sonos Play 5 or other options?). I realize of course this is a B&O forum, but just curious if we can all be objective about the other options in this space (i.e., the $500 - $1,000 standalone multi-room / bluetooth speaker market).
I don't consider myself an audiophile, but at the moment, my Vizio Soundbar which was $250 quite frankly has a richness and highs that quite frankly sound much more pleasing to my subjective ears (I tend to be a high treble, low mid, medium base EQ guy) than the M5. Jacking up the high frequency on Spotify helped but I believe that it's "cleaner" to have your apps play through clean (no EQ adjustment) while having your speaker make the EQ adjustments (thus my desire to quickly have some sort of tonal adjustment through the Beo app)...any luck with reaching out to the app creators on this kinda stuff?!
i think many of the B&O one point speakers are thought to be bass heavy to varying degrees.......the new BeoLit 17 is similar i believe, so this may be common to the BeoPlay speakers, especially the newer ones (guess that's what the market wants?)........their BeoLab active left / right speakers don't have this characteristic, they are much more balanced, and generally fabulous .........anyway, that seems to be the feeling i read on this forum..........that said, the A9 and the newer BeoSound 2, both of which i have are not too strong on bass, though more expensive........

Duels:My understanding is that it is only meant to adjust the bass.
That is correct.
Let us wait and see for sound settings, don't forget they brought back the possibility to pair a Essence remote in the March update.
i'll definitely wait it out - helpful to have a good period of time to test and return if desired.
appreciate the responses from the members!

Nigthly popping:-)
All my Beoplay devices got a new firmware release this night.
New for the M5 is the selection of the position, you need not to use the BeoplayApp with Bluetooth anymore.
But no direct treble or bass adjustment. No support for BeoRemote One BT. Minor bugfixing.
Hi All,
I am new to the forum. I had also purchased the beoplay m5 and noticed heavy bass. Had written to the beoplay customer care and looks like they are working on tone touch settings. Below is the email from customer support.
