A close up, in the background you see a little sticker marking one of two transport screws for the speakers. These must be removed (and saved for later moves).

The thick manual, stating a 85 inch version is upcoming.

It's thick because it contains every spoken language in the free world. 2 pages for every language. That's it.

I hide as much as i can in the room behind the solid brick wall. I drilled a hole for all the cables. You ca see it behind the cable mess on the floor. Here I will place the bluray-player once I decided which one to go for. Also the Apple-TV will end up here, no need to hang on the telly. I will wait to see if a new version is coming later this year before I buy one.

In the same room the Queen Mother is standing, still connected to the Master Link system and an AirPort Express. This gives me AirPlay all over the house (and a link speaker in the heating room).

And finally a picture of the Avant up and running. The premiere movie was Frozen. Even if it just was DVD from Xbox360 it was stunning picture and sound. Can't wait until I get a Bluray player. Sorry for the cable mess. It will be there until antenna from satellite dish and cable from BR is in place. Then I will also mount the back covers on the Avant. Now standing against the left wall.

Behind the TV is the black sock for hiding cables.

I will let the XBox360 stand where it is. A stand is available from STB brackets, but I think it will be just fine where it is, nothing that bothers me.

Just updated the other thread, but the breaking news is that Avant installations are on hold due to issues with the contrast screen. Mine was due to be installed today (and is with my dealer), but B&O have issued a message to dealers saying that they need to put further installations on hold until the issue is resolved/looked in to.

Anyone have any more info on this?

Sorry to hear that moxxey, i for one was looking forward to hearing your opinions and thoughts about your avant. I do wonder however what the issues are and what actions B&O are planning to take in regards to the contrast screen?

All I know it's something to do with the contrast screen (not properly sealed?). Dealers were only informed last night and were told to put Avant installations on hold.

I'm starting to wonder whether this Avant was slightly rushed to market, with the stand issues and now the contrast screen. Another very good reason why I'd never 'upgrade' to one from a tried-and-tested market-leading BV7-55!

They have actually stopped production of the Avant for the next two weeks.  I have been waiting for my replacement after my issues with excessive dirt under the screen, motor problems and indeed motion issues with the actual screen.  It seems these problems are not isolated and they are taking the time to address all the issues and tighten up the quality control on the production.

Yes, I think that's the reason why B&O has told the dealers to stop planned installs - dirt/marks under the contrast screen.

Annoyed now. In hindsight, I should have moved across to the BV11-55. Still love my BV11, just would have liked a larger version for the World Cup ;)

B&O will obviously sort these issues out as quickly as they can and hopefully with the excellent customer service we are used to along the way. What a shame though as this is undoubtedly going to cost them. I do feel they rushed this TV too. I think they have with several other products too. I loved my BeoSound 3 loads but after a year or so it had to go back for a refund because after 4 attempts at fixing the top half they still couldn't get it right. Such a shame.

The comments from earlier adopters now make complete sense as they were all around dust and dirt being visible under the screen.

I don't think anyone wanted production to move outside of Denmark, myself included. Always down to money though, which on the one hand is understandable but on the other can incur just as much cost in other ways. I really hope B&O never compromise on build quality.

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

I wonder what people will do who have taken receipt and setup their Avant? What are your plans?

Clearly there are a number of production issues with the Avant. I was told this evening, as an example, that dealers are receiving replacement Avant floor stands with specific installation instructions (and these instructions are already incorrectly labelled).

Yup, tricky one this. Total respect for those setting up themselves. I'd rather leave it to the pros for expertise and insurance purposes especially.

If I were to guess I would say that there is far too much technical content, changing far too quickly for a relatively small company to hang on and meet it's  committed introduction schedules without taking calculated risks and cutting the odd corner here and there!

Ban boring signatures!

We can rebuild him...we have the technology.

Totally agree. There is no way I could have done it myself. Hats off to my dealer.

So far no issues I would say atv and blu ray as good if not better than bv1146

I can't find any marks on the screen and the motor stand glides (I think) quietly

The new remote is fantastic and much easier to use

There is no going back to a smaller screen I think the living room can fit an 85.....Big Smile

I haven't performed a CSI test on the screen, but no problems so far for me. The stand and speakers aren't 100 % quite during moving, but they doesn't sound much so no problems there either for me. The installation was easy to perform.

I shall take a close look at the screen. If it's OK the Avant will stay unless B&O calls it back.

Daniel:

Started with the small box. It contained 3D glasses and the remote. Oh, I already love the remote. The setup was very Apple inspired with the box, the little boxes for the battery and manual. And you get a small pin (like the SIM for iPhone/iPad) to open for the battery. Display starts with an elegant Bang & Olufsen followed by a selection for language. That's it. As the TV is still in the box I tested it on the LC1. Worked so easy, no need for the manual.

Daniel, did you get 3d glasses with yours or did you pay extra for them? What did they cost if you had to pay for them? I got no 3d glasses :(.

I got one pair as they didn't have to drive 125 km one way for the installation. I was going to survey the market for another brand on the glasses as I believe B&O doesn't make them by themself and uses a Samsung (?) screen. I visited Elgiganten, MediaMarkt and so on, but it was a jungle and they didn't know anything about it. Every brand had their own glasses, and sometimes different glasses within the same brand (like Samsung).

The price differed as well from 300 SEK (30 €) to 1 000 SEK (100 €). As the B&O glasses costs 1 200 SEK I guess they are in the same league as the Samsung for 1 000 SEK. I decided to buy an extra pair from B&O and they send them home for me so I now have at least 2 pairs. With 2 kids in the house it will be a smart move. Also the B&O glasses looks very nice and are comfortable to wear.

I will bring one pair with me to Elgiganten to find out if the work on any of their sets, and then test the glasses for that TV at home.

According to the shop they only sell glasses to every 20th TV or so, so only a few percent of the buyers order glasses from B&O. If they buy from another brand, or simply doesn't care about 3D he didn't know.

But you got some champagne, which I didn't! Wink

Back home from SF?

Woke up early and just going back to sleep. Thanks Daniel and yes while I got to sip champagne unfortunately I got no glasses Big Smile.

Still in SF or rather woodside this week, SF last week. Bike ride over golden gate etc later today and travel home on Friday evening. Been a great time, even visited B&O here. They charge 149 dollars per glasses and it's just a little cheaper.

Wanted to buy h3 or form 2i but the price differences are to low to make it worth it I think.

Saw that B&O responded to a mail I sent them and I am quoting:

"The issue concerning the missing interface on UHD sources will be solved in a future software update. We will make sure you are notified as soon as the software is ready".

Sounds good right? Now I can sleep happily out in this gorgeous redwood Forrest (in a '30s house made of it too!).

This is good news! I hope the dealer is correct.
In the meanwhile, I'll wait a little longer, until my current LG dies. Unfortunately, that is the precondition for buying a new set in terms of the WAF (or in my case the BAF).

That is an idea!

Oh well, let B&O first sort things out with the new avant, I'm patient and enjoy the phase prior to buying, getting to know all about the product. Eventually, on many occasions, I'm better informed than the salesman by the time I get my money out of my pocket.

I visited my dealer yesterday and I told him "bad stuff about the avant and the production halt". He (and his boss) did not have any clue... After looking up on the intranet they discovered the alert from B&O...

I will be waiting too - no rush whatsoever!

We saw our first Avant today.

The sales man correctly said "is there anything you do not already know about this" Smile

I said "the price" Big Smile

Sue was surprised at the price and the (small) size for a 55"

So we just watched and listened.

Sue was impressed by the audio

As was I.

Watched the Costa Rica and UK 4k youtube clips. There was edge raggedness on a few panning shots at the start of the costa rica clip -- very interesting Unsure

Longish lead time Sad And they have already sold 3 Surprise And I could not buy the remote [:\'(]

Our big decisions are:

Sue: which stand and which furniture to throw out and where to hide today's rats' nest

Moi: how to integrate and get rid of the "rats"

Might stall the purchase until I work out those answers

I wonder how many B&O buyers are like us... That is to say, knowing more than the salespeople? Doing our research before purchasing, taking our time, etc. I remember when I purchased my first piece of kit around 2000. It was a new Beosound 9000 from a store in Greenwich, CT. I became pretty good acquaintances with the store manager after that. He said, I knew more about master linking and B&O history than his sales people did. I think that can be said about most of us.

At least from my experience, most salespeople I have encountered enjoy a knowledegable customer (when the knowledge is appropriately displayed, not cocky). Just thought I'd share my thoughts.

Maybe Flappo, but just to prove you the contrary he will go for it anyway.

The die hard fans get the first products so the crowd can have good MK2 versions 6 months later.

The real bargain will be to buy pre-used MK1 under warranty in 6 months.

Untill then the rock solid danish and sleek BV11 is the tv to keep.

Maybe the last of its breed.

Came home today and my tv is driving me INSANE! It's only one thing that is bothering me now but it is so f-----g annoying.

The backlight level switches all the time. Not softly but from perhaps 60% to 45% and then back. It goes bright and drops to darker just like that after a few moments and then back again after some time. This continues the whole time.

I'm in a dimmed room and the software seem to have a lot of trouble understanding this. My V1 works as usually very good in the bedroom in this kind of light.

I have paused now on Silicon Valley episode 1 at 16 minutes in where the "geeks" are walking and they zoom in on them and a bright walkway. There you clearly see how it adjust the light differently about every 10-30 seconds. Make up your mind stupid software. Big Smile

It does the light adjustment in every scene all the time and I just can't watch more. Turning it off now and writing B&O tomorrow (with the usual "change your settings" response in return I am sure).

I have the tv in the usual adaptive mode and I refuse to have to set it to a fixed mode. My 2011 samsung adjusted the light levels extremely good and you did not notice it at all.

I think they where quite quick in temporarily stopping production to look into the problem. For car manufacturers (as an example) it takes sometimes years to do the same.

The Essence of B&O is discretion in design and life

There actually is a part number for BeoRemote One, but the dealers' ordering system prohibits sales of the remote separately.

Now that at least BV11's software has been updated to support BeoRemote One, it's a pity they don't sell it.

I heard that there might be a steel version of the remote. Steel is heavier than aluminum, so perhaps customers will eventually have the option to choose which feels better: a lighter or a heavier version.

I want it first and foremost for the new & handy way it handles sources and functions: I have 14 sources as of now in my setup (including separate audio systems), and I dislike the prenamed buttons of Beo4. They don't have the right names for the sources. With BeoRemote One, it's possible to have the correct names for sources as any source can be renamed. It does not bother me that they'll be soft-buttons behind TV and MUSIC.

Since Beo5 is a pain to configure & modify, while waiting for BeoRemote One, I'm mostly using PolyMote for iPhone (for BV11 & connected sources), together with the controls of music apps I use for AirPlay through BeoPlay A8 and Playmaker.

So effectively, iPhone is my all-in-one remote until B&O releases BeoRemote One, which I'd much rather use — hopefully soon.

To get this back on topic, I envy the early adopter Avant users for their superb new remote Wink

He also mentioned that there is now a second version of the remote. I thought he said "silk" or "sheen" which did not make sense - but "steel" does ... I think I might like that one
