Dave Farr: like most homes in France I suspect
So true, when I set up my Bl8000 in France they sounded so bad I thought they were damaged en-route. Same tiled floor and placco board wall issues.
With the introduction of more furniture it became less of an issue.
I have my hi-fi in my converted attic, with Velux windows. It is a 35 square metre room with a 3-metre high ceiling, all panelled in pine. The walls each side are plastered. There is some flutter echo when I clap my hands, but not too much.
The floor is tiled, but I did put a large carpet over the tiles for comfort, between the speakers and my armchair. Not any difference when I remove it anyway.
A lot of treble energy is absorbed

I have re-arranged my furniture, and the difference is phenomenal!
Now the Cubes sound at their best, producing plenty of energy, with absolutely superb cymbals, and very finely etched and subtle treble at the same time.
I knew the system as a whole could sound superb, now I've heard it for the first time I think.
For instance, Rebecca Pidgeon's 24 Hours of Love really sounds fantastic. This nice music is a mandatory test for any music lover who likes to hear what digital at its best can do.
And Dire Straits' In the Gallery, a great analogue recording (Mark Knopfler has always been very demanding as regards sound quality), is a sheer delight as well.
I also listened to Fauré's Requiem, a very emotional piece recorded in a church in Paris, and its sounds at its best too, with its heavenly choir of children.

We digress, but I really enjoyed The Spanish Prisoner. Steve Martin was remarkable too.
I wonder what the full resolution discs (24 bit) would sound like... I do have a Pioneer DV717 that can play those.

Nothing to say really, the system goes on playing music, I'm just happy to live with it.
On 6206, the logo was stamped/engraved into the right front leg. The feet were chromed. On 6216 as well as on the best and (sensitivity/frequency range and more)final version 6223 (MKIII), the feet were just painted in silver color and no logo engraved.....
Consequently, as shown on your photo - your speakers must be some sort of genetically modified somewhere.... I cannot believe, that Frede did that - as to my knowledge, he is indeed very keen on keeping things in original condition. (Otherwise... his business does not have any purpose).
Better get some real feet - if you are as much a nerd as all the rest of us!

- just for guidance: the 2500´s really will i m p r o v e your sound experience beyond belief on your fine 6216 speaker system; but you should not put them on top of the speaker - but on a high spot (wall/book-shelve/ceiling). Actually, the cubes were not really needed for the 6223's - since they were equipped with dome-tweeters for high frequencies. However, even when you are lucky to have the 6223's - you will always want the cubes to make your setup complete (to look at :-) ).
If you find a pair of cubes, please remember, that they might need new units - normally, they will be outworn - and even distorting sound. These 8ohm units are hard to find - but not impossible. I am sure that Frede could assist.

There are well-preserved Cubes out there, and mine are an example.
The feet are not painted by the way, but the metal is brushed.

Hi, I have just got my mk1 Beovox 5000 and wan t to replace caps . Can you recall the ratings of each ? I just wanted to order without taking out and checking ... So lazy
