At some point in the future I'd love to see a photo of the inards of the dock/stand so that I can understand it's physical size.

A tablet, a cable and a wheel.

Too long to list....

Hiort:

B&O confirm Wifi as well. Strange it's not mentioned in the material I got.

Happy owner of: BV11 46", NL/ML Converter, 2 x Beocom 2, Beocom 6000, Beocenter 2, Beolab 3, Beolab 2000, Beo4, Beolab 11, Playmaker, Beolab 3500, 2 x Beolit 12

Hope this is correct. Today an update of the BeoSetup app for Wifi setup was launched. It supports the updated A9, but not the Moment.

PhilLondon,

I also like the the Beosound Moment.  However I agree with you about the wood.  I don't like it either.  I will probably use the aluminum side instead of the side with the wood.  Perhaps they will have color options available later in the year like the Beolab 18.  I would prefer white or black lacquer......especially white.

Hiort,

Did B&O mention if the WIFI was dual band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz?  Again thanks for the reporting.

That would be great. Because I don't have any wood in my house, only in my garden! Big Smile

I have to say that I like the idea and the design of the beosound moment very much however I can't help but thinking that they just snapped an android tablet in a fancy shell. They really did! Using the front facing camera to detect you being in the room? Really?

About design, I am skeptical.Unsure

What a pity Bang & Olufsen did not use an iconic design from the past like a slim BeoMaster !

I find that the design is not consistent and coherent.

I would have preferred an all-aluminum unit.

The tablet's screen is not well integrated. An angular screen would have been more harmonious.

I'm not sure to buy this product.

This technological bricks is little disappointing for his design.

Agree. As I posted earlier, the form of an early beomaster with the touchscreen pad inserted would have been a much more elegant solution.

I can't see that wood surface looking too good after extensive finger pressing unless it has a thick transparent protective surface.

I second this.

The emperors new clothes. No, its not a tablet, oh wait yes we fudged it in and left the camera.

I will pass this one. I do give them kudos thought that it supports ALAC/Apple  Lossless if I didnt misread that. For that I was waiting long in their devices.

I think B&O should consider releasing a version of the MoodWheel / Moment's software as a Music Player App for iPad and Android. A paid (reasonably expensive) app of course — for those who have a tablet and want the intelligent music listening experience but not the Beosound Moment product itself, e.g. people who simply wish to Airplay / DLNA stream music to B&O Play products (and why not others) or listen via headphones.

People who like the Moment's tactile physical aluminum / wooden wheel & finish and the device's design, and want the complete solution, could of course get the Beosound.

It would be income from both software and hardware. "The most intelligent music player for your tablet." That could sell well as an app alone: there are a few hundred million tablets out there already, many used for playing music. Marketed correctly, the app could also introduce B&O to a new customer base, young & old, who'd learn to appreciate B&O's audio competences (or get to know B&O in the first place). It could serve as a first step to the world of both B&O and B&O Play.

Oh, and B&O should definitely implement Puncher's version of the display / tablet integration for the Moment. It can't be a major overhaul to extend the aluminum front plate to cover the tablet's ugly bezels.

B&O product history since 1991: Ridiculously long to list in a signature.

Weight minus the pad to volume ratio implies it has lots of ... air !

From the size I was easily fooled into believing it had RAID SSD storage ...

Funny thing about Beoworlders - the are never, ever satisfied with what B&O makes.

They ought to change this and that - ought to support yet another format, ought to have yet another output/or input, ought to have 1 TB internal storage and, and....

Remember when the BL18 game out with the wooden fronts - many screamed 'oh my guy'!!

By now most people like them!

Why not just wait untill you have seen the BS Moment in the flesh, touched it, tried it and played with it for a while, when it comes out?

Wait untill you have seen, how it integrates with a BV - or as a multiroom source.

Then decide whether you like it or not, need it or not and whether want to buy it or not.

Well said MM.  I really like most things you write.  You're quite matter-of-fact.

From the video, I really like the design.  I have seen a few wood clocks where you can see the LED through the wood and they look great. But to have touch, is good.

From Hiorts photos its actually smaller than I thought.

Can't wait to see.

Well said MM.

Struggling through many pages with off topic comments and opnions based on only some  pictures and (in)complete details.

I agree.

Try and look before judging.

At least as fan I'm giving them the benefits of doubts and am happy to see that it will be more affordable for many.

A forum is a place to share opinions. I don't see anything wrong with that. Criticising others for their opinion is more problematic to me.

I agree, however, after have seen 2 videos, the second beeing the "multiroom" video, one thing actually annoys me without having tried it myself, EVERY time the presenter turns the display, or puts it back in place, the ALWAYS re-align it with the base unit by pushing the sides where the 2 units meet with their fingers.

That tells me that the person using it does not trust that it will look perfect when the re-attach the display unit.. Sureley they could have used some kind of super strong magnets to align it ? That is how the iPad cover always flips on correct..

Maybe the magnets are there, and it is just a habit people do, will need to wait until I try it out for my self..

Just made a phone call to my well thrusted dealer. I made up my mind during the call and came to the conclusion that I really like it!

According to the specifications Hiort showed in an earlier thread, it fits exactly my 24 bits and some other requirements. Now let's wait until B&O gets the software right later this year (the NL link) and I buy this new toy. At first I was planning to swap my BS3200, but with giving the BS3200 another place in the house and keep in in the NL/ML link, I can still enjoy my national radio broadcasts on FM. My dealer told me there is no cam in front but its a brightness sensor.

Exactly.

Beoworld is turning into a fanboy site. A place where different opinions can't be shared.

I'm criticizing the Moment, but I haven't attacked any members opinions, whether they like the Moment or not. Unlike some here do.

My opinions are my opinions alone, I don't go on talking *** about avatars, and behavior.

Perfectly OK, however, if someone chooses to form an opinion based on a picture, that's shouldn't be such a sore for you. Obviously it's fine to form a positive opinion based on pictures online.

Totally agree! I thought for a moment that they docked an iPad in there. Seems like they forgot to design that part, and just used what they already knew. I would also like to have the moment as an app, because how many tablets does one need?

Beosound 5 Encore + Beosystem 5500 + S45.2; BV7-40 MKV + BL7.1 + BL14.4+ AppleTV4; various link rooms with MCL2 A or MCL2 A/V + RL60.2 / CX100 / CX50 & Cona  / IWS2000; BG4000; Beosystem 1200 + BV1600.
