ErikVonAgnar:

From what I have heard it is true. Avant owners have to buy the new TV to get the new content, such as the inbuilt Netflix and Andriod system,
And "How will they get 4K content" the Avant has HDMI port 1 that supports 4K content. So you must buy a 4K-player or streaming device.

I hope this answer your question. If not, please let me know.

//EA

Thats correct. Avant can play 4K content but need an external source. The new Avant will have the improved panel, so that it can handle the HDR and wide colour gammut. From reviews I read that e.g Netflix UHD HDR content is not that big of a deal. Its too compressed to really make a difference.

Getting the content from an UHD Blueray player should be much better.

That's true, but a lot is coming.

The problem, at the beginning, will be to discern the native uhd HDR material from what will be just packaged as such.

You sure it was a UHD 4k and not a 4k up scaler player as only Samsung and Panasonic have UHD players out. Unless Sony has launched one now?

No, thats NOT a UHD player, it's a 4K upscale Blu Ray player. SONY have not lunched a UHD Blu Ray player in Europe as of yet.

Exactly.

They announced at Ces that they are going to market their uhd bluray player within the end of the current financial year, that is within March 2017.

No more rumors regarding the new Beovisions? Stick out tongue

Just to summarize, this is what I found in this thread:

AVANT MKII in June, with panel that support HDR and Deep Color. Android powered. Bluetooth for remote.Optional Netflix button on remote.

Beovision Horizon. A 40" is around 30,000 Swedish (Kr) and the 48" is around 40,000 (kr). Brand new design. Looks like "no TV I have seen before". Harder, more masculine/aggressive design, with more pronounced edges and angles. Matte black aluminium frame. Static (no moving parts) sound bar at the bottom, integrated in the design, with a grey aluminium grille. No glass in front of the panel. 4K and HDR. 40" and 48". The most exciting about this TV is the price, which by B&O standards will be low. Around 3200 and 4000 euro, respectively. Two floor stands: one has wheels. The other resembles the floor stand of the Avant, at least in function, but will be black and look more like a set of circular rails rather than a solid disc. Android powered. Bluetooth for remote.

Beovision 14. Looks in every way like the Beovision 11, but with new technology. 4K and HDR. Sizes like BV11. 40", 46" and 55".4Android powered. Bluetooth for remote. Wooden fret alternative (?). Price level like the AVANT. Optional Netflix button on remote.

Good summary, Hiort.

As I have understood it, we won't see the BV14 untill after the summer.

The BV Horizon however, should arrive soon.

But maybe I have got things mixed up ;-(

The dealers are very tight-lipped.

Hello

When I was at B&O shop couple of weeks ago to buy the A1, dealer said that small size screens (32 and below) are still on high demand by customers for kitchen and bedrooms.

And that new TV might answer this request

Wait and see.

Do you think so Aussie Michael

Today, as little as 10.000dkk will buy you a flat screen with an outstanding picture quality.
So what do you get, if you put down the significant amount of extra cash, to bag the Avant
55? A sound processor, a PUC system and,- an immaculate remote control.

However, since the days of BV7-55,- 75% of the parts, functionality and the Danish
manufacturing, have been cut, in an effort to make the company profitable. Unfortunately, it
dint even really work, since most of the stores, are now long gone. The the ones left are left
without customers, since its properly a lot more appealing getting an up to date 6000kkr
surround receiver, for a cheap flat screen.

Not only a much cheaper combo, but with the benefit of getting an abundance of connections,
options and the latest and greatest in sound processing and decoding. The prestige that carried
the B&O brand, has been transformed into: " You have to be joking! I am NOT paying that
amount of money for a B&O TV!"

Simply the best tv experience you can get from a single set (no extra boxes, wires, speakers).

Hi PP

Yes in terms of products i think.  Although it would be lovely to see Danish manufacturing, its a sad tale that if the price was competitive then it would have remained.

How i looked at the cost of the Avant, was if i bought a high end screen of another brand, then had to buy a separate stand for that, then added in an AV receiver, and then had to add in another remote control and then, the price is not much different.  To buy a cabinet to put another TV on is expensive too.  And then there is the ease of use and the design language, and that's what sold me on the Avant.

So to have a similar prospect, and talk of the BV14, the Horizon, the new BeoSound system and another BL akin to the 90, i think the future is looking good.

I am thinking of a new BV and a pair of 20s, but there are a few "it depends" on.

I have had the "cheaper" combo and for all the Bose, and other products i have bought, i  could have had a BV from the start and be done with it.

Why many of the stores are no longer around is perhaps a different issue, but there is a disconnect between the feelings the customers have to return to the stores, and its not the look and feel, although they are important, it's how you feel as a customer and if you're looked after, then the purchasing decision is easy.

I am a big fan of your posts and really appreciate how you take the time to put together solutions for multiple equipment - cant wait to see how these look in a new BV scenario.

@Beogreg

The Avant speakers are good and the design is magic, like it would be expected from a B&O product!

But they are by no means extraordinary... especially compared to what really was extraordinary : The BL7 range of TV speakers.

A single BL7-4 boosts more power than the entire AVANT system...combined!

Ironically,  by integrating speakers into the TV, B&O more or less lost the option of bundling products, from the only remaining segment with a decent offering,- the active speakers...

A clever move would have been releasing the AVANT as a monitor only. A package deal with a pair of BL18 would properly have been VERY attractive!

Any idea when the new Avant is available? I ordered one several weeks ago and is delayed awaiting the launch of the new model. The local dealership is very tight lipped, that is if I can get to speak to him! I've been given no indication of likely delivery time, which is pretty poor to be honest. My first experience of B&O and I expected better.

Interesting comments. I have 95% made up my mind to order a pair of Beolab 20s this weekend replace the Beolab 9s that are connected to my BV7-55. However, I have had a concern I will not receive the full benefit of the 20s as the BV7-55 does not list the 20s (or the 9s) as an available speaker choice.

That made me start looking at possibly getting an Avant MKII. However, I was concerned about losing the 7-4 and ALT in all five speakers. Although I like the moving speaker on the Avant very much.

When you say a return to the BV4, are suggesting a two piece package, a separate monitor and a Beosoystem 4, or other processor so that all connections can be hidden in a cabinet and the 7-4 could still be used?

August/October! I hope not. I was told 4 weeks when I ordered. Then they said the model has changed, so it will be a few more weeks. No mention of a few more months. I wouldn't mind if they'd at least manage your expectations. I beginning to regret ordering it.

@Razlaw

Having gone through many combinations over the years, I have come to realize, just how important the center speaker is. Everything from a faint whisper, a smack in the face or a loud scream, has to be conveyed accurately by that one speaker. There simply is no substitute, and you cannot fake a center using multiple speakers...

The current AVANT is a carefully balanced system, cost, size and design all had to be weighted in, and its a package deal not meant to be broken into pieces.

So even if you upgrade to better speakers, you are stuck with the original tiny center speaker, which incidentally is slightly off center to accommodate the design.

And even if you did go through the trouble disconnecting the speaker motor internally in the TV, you still wouldn't be able to fit a BL7-4 or BL10, since the stand is to low...

And that is why its so frustrating the AVANT isn't available as a monitor only, the price would be at least 40% procent lower, and you could have your pick between the really great active speakers, and the choice between Beosys 3, 4 or even 5,-  perhaps Smile

Did you know the 7-55 as the only TV ever (properly by mistake and thanks to the Beosys 3)  is capable of distributing Full HD + 7.1 sound ?

I did not know that. So from what you are saying, from a sound perspective, you would recommend keeping the BV7-55 and BL7-4 as opposed to "upgrading" to an Avant, or BV11?

I was mistaken in my earlier post, my BV7 does have BL9s in it's setup menu. It does not have BL12-3s in it, which are my rears.

Any thoughts on using BL20s with it even though they are not specifically supported in the menu? Set as 9s? 5s?
