This weekend i was in Jutland to pick up a package
What could it be ?
A beogram 3000 in very nice condition,and it seemed to work properly,but it must have done a service.
I got it at a very very good price.

Henrik; wow, those are very nice pieces. I had never seen a MkI box, I have a MkII (which looks identical to yours).
Btw; as in your first MkII photo, there is a white piece between the high power resistors and the metal plate supporting the small transformer. I am not sure if your MkI has it too. That white piece *might* be asbestos, used as a heat insulation. Probably harmless if not disturbed, but something to keep in mind.

Same here Jacques, that BG 3000 has been on my list for years, not even sure if it will run on 60 Hz

I found it in the UK. I've never seen any in France. I think £ 100 was a fair price.

It is connected to the SPK2 terminal, with the centre speaker connected to it.
I have a custom box I built a few years ago, see here, because I couldn't find the real Mccoy!
It gives some depth to the soundstage. Frede has an article about it on his website, somewhere.

I've just bought a pair of Beolab 1 for my Beobar. The price here in Denmark has for the last 7-8 years been quite consistent around 10-12.000 DKKr for a set.
I bought these for 8.000 DKKr (approx. 1.300 US $) because they had a few scratches on the backside.
They are really nice looking -and sounding. But I think they are a bit more "harsh" in the treble than the Beolab Pentas mk3 (which I am keeping). Has anybody else had the same experience?
I can't answer your question about the speakers but I love seeing photos of the Beobar. That is excellent.

Yesterday I added this beauty to my collection!
Only part that is cracked is one of the knobs, so that's pretty good for an 80 year old bakelite radio I think.
I can't quite figure out if I should leave it as is or bring the cabinet back to its original, glossy finish. It has a brown kind of varnish on most of the cabinet, which gives it a pretty nice patina, and I kind of like the story this totally unrestored look tells, but I'm also a sucker for the original, glossy look.
After I took the photos, I cleaned 2 spots on the rear corners of the cabinet where there wasn't any varnish, and that made the beautiful, glossy, speckled brown bakelite visible again. Any advise on the best way to clean and treat bakelite to bring it back to its former glory is very welcome.
But for now I will enjoy it as it is - cleaning and polishing is always an option.

It's a common misunderstanding, that it was glossy from factory.It wasn't.It had more of a silky shine to it.
What a nice setup, Henrik.Looking forward to bringing both of those brass tweeters back to original and make them play again.

Sorry, I wasn't around back then to have known...
I only have these photos for reference, where it looks very glossy to me, but maybe the Beolit 40 was different from the 39?
Nevertheless, there looks to have been put some kind of varnish on it at some point, so judging by the photos above, a glossy finish will at least look a lot more original than the state it is in now.
I've done a bit of research, and bakelite shouldn't be cleaned with anything alkali or cleaners that contain ammonia like window cleaner. I did try cleaning the varnish off carefully with window cleaner before finding that information though, but it didn't do much and probably won't have removed more from the surface than a polish would. I'm thinking of buying a less valueable bakelite Beolit from the same era and try out different polishing methods on that before working more on this one. Definetely not a job to rush.

Shiny things look good in ads.You can treat bakelite much like you would metal.You can use f.e. Brasso for polishing.
As some of you might have seen earlier in this thread, I bought a pair of Beolab1's for my bar. As I wrote, I think it lacks a bit of bass, compared to the Penta's.
So now I have just bought this beautiful Beolab 11 sub in red.
People here on Beoworld have discussed, if a BL 11sub would add anything to the BL 1 speakers - or only a BL 2 (or 19) would.
To answer the question: Does a BL 11 add anything to the BL 1's? Yes, it does. Does the BL 11 add anything to the Penta's? No.
And now it's time for a beer and some good music
The BL11 is still such a great little subwoofer with design and elegance. Happy listening.
Finally managed to assemble my odd Beosystem 4000/5000. Picked up a 'Beocord 4000' last week. I already have a Beocord 5000 with rosewood trim, that says Beocord 4000 on the red label at the back, but it is nice to have finally found one with the matching model number printed on the front.
From the top; Beogram 5005, Beogram CD 50, Beomaster 4000 and Beocord 4000.
Hope to find a Beogram 5000 with rosewood trim like the one at Struer Museum one day, but for now this will have to do.
