I’ve been keeping an eye out for B&O’s TV line up for the past 8 months, ever since I overheard a rumour that B&O will most likely stop making TV’s. It’s no secret that shares dropped almost a quarter by the end of last year and the company has been struggling keeping up with the pace the competition is refreshing lineups and adding smart features.
I’m not sure if there is any truth to this rumour but the fact that the lineup has remained unchanged and is limited to two models for this long is not very reassuring.
From what I hear is that the Eclipse will come in an updated version and also an "entry level" model that will replace Horizon as soon as the Horizon stock has been sold out.
Livingroom: BL3, BL11, BV11-46 Kitchen: Beosound 1 GVA, Beocom 2 Bathroom: M3 Homeoffice: M3, Beocom 2 Library: Beosound Emerge, Beocom 6000 Bedroom: M5, Essence remote Travel: Beoplay E8 2.0, Beoplay EQ, Beoplay Earset
I seriously hope that the Horizon replacement rumour is a fact... Not all people want a 55"+ model in their home.
Karel.
I seriously hope the Horizon replacement is as good looking as the Horizon itself because the Eclipse is not for everyone.
As for sizes, I agree, a 46" or 48" oled would be welcome.

With the Roll up TV by LG it will be hard to top in both extravagance and features. They have gave up on TV's years ago as even though they look great they are priced ridiculously.

The only people who tend to do that are the Eclipse owners, partly as they are pleased with their purchase (they should be, it's excellent) and partly as they need to justify the expense and do that by going on the offensive.
This sentence:
Bang & Olufsen unveiled the BeoVision Eclipse in 2017 in a partnership with LG Electronics Inc. However, as Techradar.com points out, LG sells TVs with similar technology that can be combined with equivalent audio systems for a lower price.
Could anyone show me the same setup for a lower price? When I bought I looked a lot after alternatives, but could not find any?
Beovision Harmony 77" 2nd Gen, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1, Beoplay M3, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay Earset, Beoliving Intelligence

To be fair, you could easily buy pre-loved BL3s or similar, using the TV as a centre. Perhaps with a cheap BL11.This is effectively what I have with my BV12-65 (where the TV centre speaker is very basic).
It's a good TV (not the best) - with the best sound. The relative value is in the buyers head. Some think it's a good deal, many ex-B&O TV owners don't - It is what it is!

This has always been the criticism of B&O, not just the TVs, but their audio equipment and speakers. "Nice equipment, but you can do much better for far less". This approach assigns the value of "design" and "integration" to $0. Of course, if you hate the design, then I suppose the value is negative. Like Emil, if I could have found something similar for a lower price, I would have bought it. For me, the "similar technology" required multiple boxes, a lot of wires, ugly brackets, noisy motors, very costly install and didn't easily integrate with my existing B&O. Unfortunately for B&O, it appears there are not enough of us who feel this way. I just hope I can get 10+ years of service out of it, and then it will not seem like such silly money (at least to me).

Could you please explain how that should be done with a regular tv?
(Your BV12 has a genuine multi channel audio solution built in.....which makes THE difference).
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Millemissen: Could you please explain how that should be done with a regular tv?
I was giving an example - not suggesting that's exactly what someone could do. ie. I'm suggesting that using an AV receiver or similar external unit (such as a soundbar), it's possible to create a BV12-style experience. It's obviously more of a 'faff' which is why people plump for B&O products, but it's a similar setup.
The Panaonic-based BV12 doesn't have a solution built in. It relies on the external BeoSystem 3.
Millemissen:(Your BV12 has a genuine multi channel audio solution built in.....which makes THE difference).
Actually no, the audio is handled by either a BSys3 or 4, It does have powered speakers though!
Hallo Moxxey,
I don't really understand how this is an answer on my question?
Puncher: It's a good TV (not the best) - with the best sound. The relative value is in the buyers head. Some think it's a good deal, many ex-B&O TV owners don't - It is what it is!
I agree with that Puncher,
I just have a hard time seeing what alternatives ex-B&O TV owners have, without degrading the TV experience
@ Moxxey and BEOVOX141
Now, don’t tell me that you really thought that I don’t know that the BV12 ‘relies’ on an external system - either the BSys 3 or 4.
Besides, you both know that the whole package was sold as a.....BeoVision 12.
Com’on give me an example of how connecting BeoLab speakers to a regular stock tv could possibly provide a solution like that of the BeoVision 12.....I am not talking ‘design’, but functionallity, usability.
I see Hero71 is keeping his head down!
Use a Beosys (any) that is what it was built for, and that is what I do.
The interesting part about the LG OLED or Samsung QLED for that matter isn't the "soon to be outdated" smart-TV functionality, but rather the performance of the actual screen. Which you can easily access using a simple HDMI.
Why The Eclipse simply didn't stick to the "monitor only" approach is beyond me, most could have been taken from the Avant directly. Actually, the sound Center reminds me a lot about an Avant engine, lees the video. That way you could use LGs Oled or ANY other TV of your choice. You could even upgrade.
The Eclipse architecture is just too convoluted with sound, control and video going left right up and down. And although the sound is impressive, it NOT "stand-alone speakers" impressive.
Emil Jensen: I don't really understand how this is an answer on my question?
I'm confused - you said you had a look at 'all the options' before you considered the Eclipse?
Millemissen: Com’on give me an example of how connecting BeoLab speakers to a regular stock tv could possibly provide a solution like that of the BeoVision 12.....I am not talking ‘design’, but functionallity, usability.
You can't, you need a receiver or similar. But the point is, a) the options exist and b) they aren't hugely expensive. ie. compared to a £10K+ Eclipse.
Sorry if I misunderstand,
But do you suggest that I instead of buying a Eclipse I could have bought used speakers like the BL3 and BL11,
How is that helping me with an alternative to the Eclipse?

There is always an option, a solution.
The question however, is how good is it?
Some might see that as sufficient and might be pleased, others not....I wouldn’t, being used to the integrated solutions from B&O for decades.
Ask the Eclipse owners, if they are pleased.
The question of costs is - as always with the B&O stuff, now and before - a different matter.
I'm going to ask PP to pop by with some viable WISA solutions!

.... and the TV/video engine is entirely 3rd party! Says it all really.

As I said earlier, Eclipse owners appear to be the most pleased/defensive* users on this forum (*delete as applicable)
Well 3rd party or not, this is the first Beovision since the 8 series, where the vocals are clear.
I’m happy with the picture, the sound, the interface and the stand. All I would want changing is a light in the remote. My next task is to start connecting WISA speakers!
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
not sure why everyone gets so defensive about this (the Eclipse for example)
Hell, I have a Moment, a product that has been ridiculed, quite rightly, for all that it works well enough now.
I don't take any offence - it was a whimsical purchase, I knew it might disappoint, as it has, even if I do use use it from time to time.

You can't be sensible on here, you'll either get stoned (with real stones) or assassinated!

Hallo Puncher,
What does it say, can you elaborate?

I guess "we" defend it, as there have been no major issue with this tv, and all are very happy with it, also with the value.
But a lot who have not bought the Eclipse keep saying that it is way to expensive.
And so far no one have been able to show me an alternative to the Eclipse, so.....
Emil Jensen: Puncher: .... and the TV/video engine is entirely 3rd party! Says it all really. Hallo Puncher, What does it say, can you elaborate?
Actually two things -
B&O's best ever TV isn't actually a B&O TV but an LG.
B&O's best ever TV isn't actually the best anymore, others are better.
I would find both of these to be sad and difficult to be proud of if I was B&O.
Name me one time B&O had the best picture possible?
B&O have until recently had their own prefered colour calibration that is far from "correct"
Now you actually are able to adjust the tv to ISF settings, for the first time.
And in that regard see how well Loewe is doing, far from the ISF standard.
I get where you are going, but why settle for a worse picture, just to say it was made in house?
And yes Sony and Panasonic is better than LG in that regard, but that is only something I can read in the reviews not something that I can see or notice with my own eyes.

BV12-65.
no one is ridiculing the Eclipse, its got strong specs of course.
Some of the things that marked out previous BV propositions aren't present in the Eclipse though.
Will matter for some, matter less for others.
There will be a subset of those customers who are a bit more videophile than others, and for them LG video processing is not ideal, and they will have genuine reasons for not preferring the Eclipse proposition.
And more broadly, its not as if the design will go down as a classic.
I do understand that its been generally well functioning software wise (although the My Buttons didn't work for a long long time) - but thats not a positive that's a base requirement.

The BV 12-65 used a Panasonic VT30 screen,
By the time BV12 came, Panasonic launch VT50 which were in many areas improved.
Though the Pioneer KRP-600 was and still is regarded as the best plasma screen ever, and that was also before BV12-65,
