Hi, I bought a beo sound moment off of ebay in January so decided to buy the wall stand. whilst installing the stand and putting the cables inside the wall to make a clean look, the beo sound moment was unplugged for two days. after replugging it in now the screen is just blank. its been on charge over night and still nothing. is this correct what I've been reading that this is a known issue and it will need to be repaired. to me thats incredible i have never had a product in my life before whereby being off charge it needs to be repaired. if this is so, how much will this cost. its very nearly turned me off of b and o and on to sonos.

if anyone knows how to fix this, or how much it costs can you please advise me. thanks

I recall that people had similar problems and it’s not necessarily something that need repair.

Search the forum and you may find some advice.

Have you tried a reset by pushing a pin in the little hole on the long side of the tablet?

Hiort,

I have read a lot on the forums about this issue, I've tired resting it using the small hole in the the top. Nothing happens, I ve reset the moment and the jukebox nothing happed. I can not understand why a brand of this quality when the battery discharges you can't get it to recharge. I have never in my life experienced a product from any manufacturer that has this issue. Like I said I've searched the forums I can't find a solution so if anyone has one id appreciate it. however if this does prove to be a repair issue and I have to pay it will be the very last product from B and O i ever purchase.

My moment has discharged fully on multiple occasions and I’ve never had this issue. It would seem a repair is needed to me.

I have sent a message to the AMGRACE the bang and olufsen shop in leamington Spa where I bought it from, as I do not feel this is fair. Now I see the reason B and O discontinued this product seems like a lot of people have had the same issue. Lets see what the shop says. However if this becomes a repair issue I have to pay for then after being a B and O shopper I will sell my products and move to another brand.

However Im going to see what they say first.

I first thought the battery died, but a quick check at the dealer ruled that out. Happend just out of the blue, do not think that the former owner had knowledge of this.

Have you tried to leave the tablet of the moment for a day and then recharge it and tried to reset is with the pin? I had a non responsive tablet once before and as I remember this made the tablet responsive again.

I understand your frustrations, but I’m enjoying the Moment every time I use it! Back in the days I bought a brand new BS3000 and within a year it needed the laser to be replaced. After that till now not a worry in the world and still use it. Don’t let one faulty part spoil the pleasure of the product.

Yes, leave it off and after a day, put it on the charger for a short time so it gets a bit of charge and see if it starts up again, if not try the pin reset and then see if it starts up again.

Well I basically did everything people said and still dead no response what so ever. So I decided to contact the Bang and Olufsen shop I brought it from which was B and O in Leamington Spar. Well the response just shows me what B and O think about customer service. The reply is below, and although I understand that its going to need to be repaired, this item was brought two months ago from a B and O dealer and although second hand not even an offer towards some of the costs. This has taught me a valuable lesson, I will have to get the Beosound moment jukebox fixed but it will be the last item I ever buy from this brand and I have been buying things for the last 15 years.

Below is the B and O shop response. Great service.

Sorry to hear that the Jukebox isn't charging. It's worth checking that the contact between the two components is good. In some cases performing a reset on the Jukebox might work but the likelihood is that the internal battery on the Jukebox requires replacing,

With BeoSound Moment, the servicing proceedure is to take the system (I would suggest the Soundheart as well) to your dealer of choice.

They should send the combination to the Bang & Olufsen designated Service Centre based in Northern Germany. As it would be a chargeable repair you may be asked for a fee upfront to cover the cost of providing a quotation for you.

The process usually takes around 2-3 weeks.

In Valencia, here is the link to the dealer in the city:

https://stores.bang-olufsen.com/en/spain/valencia/gran-via-marques-del-turia-75

Hope that this info helps.

Kind Regards

If you bought it from a shop you should have some warranty. Even for used stuff. Minimum 6 months.

How old is the moment itself? And was the shop selling it themselves second hand or on behalf of a customer?

Ok - then!

But as Ralf wrote, ‘If you bought it from a shop you should have some warranty. Even for used stuff. Minimum 6 months.’

Then why is the dealer talking about some ‘fee upfront’?
Warranty is not just a UK thing - Spain is in the EU and it is the same there. I guess that is not different, when a dealer sells off ebay.

Anyway Ive taken it back to a B and O dealer in Valencia Spain where I live, lets see the outcome. Depending on this, can someone advise me if there is a set of headphones that can be linked to the moment to wirelessly listen to music

Hate to be the cranky realist here but the moment is the worst product B&O has ever made.

The moment can't do anything an iPad with a cheap NAS/Sonos can't do, for 1/10th the cost. I'd suggest getting your money back if you can.

I would think being functional and reliable would be conditions for liking it alot, or did I miss a post?

It works pretty well now and has done for the last year or so.

But it’s not a very good product by design though.

There is not.

Moment is not sending anything over Bluetooth. Just receiving.

Did you get your problems sorted?

Well after 4 weeks of being sent places I finally get an answer, and that answer is a total replacement of the jukebox costing 520 euros. Wow the shop in the uk did a good one on me. My trust in buying second hand from a b and o shop has gone. The repair shop in Germany, because of the model had to be sent to Germany stated the untit had been drop sometime in it life. Not by me.... but the oak side had a mark i put that down to wear and tear. Anyway the choice is pay the money or have a door stop. Im going to write to the citizens advice to check what my rights are. Ive contact the b and o shop in the uk but they dont respond. Seems like these days customer service is not that important to some shops (not all) but some.

Unfortunately, my Moment just experienced exactly the same issue. That is, my Moment was working fine when I unplugged the power cable of the Soundheart with the Jukebox still on the Soundheart.  After a couple of weeks with the Soundheart being without power, I went to resetup the Moment.  The Jukebox was unresponsive, but I assumed it was discharged so I plugged in the power cable of the Soundheart.  After days of trying to charge the Jukebox, the Jukebox would not come back to life (although the Soundheart appears to be functioning properly).  That is, the screen remains dark and the Soundheart (as far as I can tell) does not see the Jukebox.  I believe I’m a month or so out of the 3 year warranty, so it looks like I’ll have to spend $800 to replace the Jukebox.

As you probably know, I use - and have used for a while - an iPad (Mini) too.....with a vertical stand.

Great stand there - where did you get that?

It seems to have just the right angle for a desktop.

I swear I’m going crazy, this is now the second time on this thread where i have posted something good lol and it didn’t appear. So frustrating

Yes, the stand is a Heckler Design.

It is also sold in Aussie Land under a different brand in the national chain of shops called Officeworks.

It is more stable and effective for multi room than my encore ever was, although the encore looks way better of course. But functionality , it’s on a different level.

I had 5 iPads, so made sense to make one of them a music centre for deezer and my collection.

With the rain fall I think the product is, i just used permanent marker on the front facing screws to blend them in to the black surround.

I’m going to dedicate an iPad just to music now I’m using a Core. Need to buy a new one so the only question is which one to keep for general use and which one for music. Now that really is a first world problem.

Now that is an easy one - the old for music and the new one for general use.

By the way: there have always been 2 main categories of ‘users’ when it comes to controlling music with a mobile device.

Firstly there are those, who seem to have their (i)Phones glued to their hands.....ready for action all the time, 24/7.

Secondly there are those who wants to seperate work, talking on a phone, using social media/mail from their listening to music at home.

Those were the guys that B&O tried to serve with the concept of the BS Moment!

However, when this does not work (it is EOL anyway) or the way the Moment works was not enough, a seperate tablet/iPad (Mini) can be the solution of that problem.

Personally I have had an (older) iPad Mini dedicated for the Bang & Olufsen app and a few other app for my music setup AND my iPad, that I use for general things (pretty much everything), for quite a while now. The app is of course complemented with the physical Beo remote.

I can only recommend dedicating an iPad for the B&O setup to everybody..........unless he/she happens to be in the first category.

Here I am thinking of buying a new Beosound Moment at a good price with a 2 year warranty, after the software has finally matured and stabilised yet everyone else is moving to a Core....someone out there must be enjoying the Moment and preferring it to an iPad in their hands...?

.

Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.

Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.
