Hi Rich,
If your Beomaster 4000 is working, enjoy it. I go by the motto “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. However IF it acts up again, send it back to Benny and I have ZERO doubt that he will make it right.
You recommended Benny Amina to me and I am eternally grateful to you for this. I was completely delighted by his care with my equipment (returned without as much as a hint of any cosmetic damage….. this is not always the case) as well as his workmanship.
I am a high demand user so both my Beomaster 2400 and Beomaster 4500 get their regular work-outs and do so sans complaint.
The Beomaster 4500 powering S 45.2 speakers is in the kitchen, so it has the easier life, but the Beomaster 2400 with my newly remote controlled Beogram 4004 get pressed for volume powering S 75 speakers…. yet performs like a real champ.
A fellow BeoWorlder sent me a private message telling me I was an “absolute fool” for repairing either of these common, lesser, low power amplifiers.
Well, we are all entitled to our opinions, but considering the enormous pleasure both give me, I have to say he was mistaken.
Here is hoping that your Beomaster 4000 just had a hiccup and if not, we know that Benny will make it right.
Jeff

Rich “turned Swedish.” How do you “turn Swedish?”
And no alcohol for a week, ya sure ya betcha.
There must be a better way to turn Swedish. How about a little bit of lutefisk, play some accordion music and Rich buys a Volvo?

Hey Rich,
The Clash, now there’s a group I haven’t thought about in awhile. Takes me back to MTV and Rock the Casbah…. because I know it wasn’t Kosher.
Nice that Mika sent you Finnish glasses I must make do with Mickey Mouse glasses from Walt Disney World. (Which I cherish)
I’ve been playing “Oh Yea” by Yello on my remote controlled Beogram 4004….. I think the neighbors are sick of it.
Piaf:There must be a better way to turn Swedish. How about a little bit of lutefisk, play some accordion music and Rich buys a Volvo?
In Sweden they sell B&O with accordion filters
Rich:I don't know about turning Swedish, but when I need to turn a touch Finnish, I break out some glasses Mika bought me a few Christmases ago.
Since you are now Swedish, I must suggest that you don't fill them to the rim with your Akvavit

Where can I find one of those Uff da filters?
Piaf:Where can I find one of those Uff da filters?
I was living in Sweden in the 70s and as a 1st of April joke it came in a news paper, that all new radios by law should have this accordion filter. One of my favorite Swedish songs is Gällivare Tango by Siw Malmkvist I play it when I get nostalgic
Hi Søren,
Ah the Swedes are indeed the blunt of jokes worldwide, but always in a good-hearted fashion.
I too have “memories” of Ballard, the Swedish neighborhood in Seattle. The local NBC affiliate had a comedy show “Almost Live” that poked fun at Ballard mercilessly with the “typical” Ballard driver, driving SLOWLY, about 20MPH, weaving from one side of the road to the other, with the seatbelt hanging out the car door, the turn signal ALWAYS on, and then parking with one tire on the sidewalk.
The police car was Uff da One and the policeman gave tickets for such things as eating spicy food “not allowed in Ballard” and always with a heavy fake Swedish accent.
As with all jokes, it is based on real life situations….. the locals of Ballard are often of Swedish decent, the older ones with the accent, and they DO drive like that in Ballard. Ja, sure, you betcha.
Though my love of the Kentucky stuff is legendary, there is some SKYY in the freezer. That's from Sweden, yes?
Something is pissing me off hard.
So PJ Harvey and beer, only M75's involved.
blah-blah and photographs as needed
Rich:Two glasses of red later and we've dug The Clash's Combat Rock out.
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4
I just had to have this LP copy of the Clash.
Gonna play it on my Beogram 4000 and the mighty McIntosh 2255, all 500 watts !
Hope the neighbors won’t mind.
Go easy on the wine and hard on the rock

Too late, I already bought the album. What the heck, 1982 was a fun year.

Please don't I beg of you! Today's my 27th anniversary and that one might make it the last.
Suzi Quatro turns 65 today, keep on rocking Suzi, I will rock with Suzi the whole day starting with this one
Piaf: P.S. Why is your Beogram 4002 on pads?
Not pads. Vibration dampening.
Available here, here, and probably wherever fine snake oil is sold for the discerning audiophile.
I put the Beomasters on them as well (especially helpful for BM1900 and BM2400 to access the back/bottom connections).
Sorry for not noticing the post script before.

I have heard the two first and the two last. Never heard of the others. But I still remember Eliane Elias.

Thanks for the answer. I pretty much figured that was the case.
When I was considering buying my first Beogram 4002 the B&O dealer brought one to my home and INSISTED on playing it on top of one of my McIntosh ML-2 speaker for demonstration.
Perfectly terrible idea, but an effective sales tool. The Beogram 4002 did amazingly well sitting atop of those bass-heavy (Two 12” speakers each) ML-2’s and as a direct result of the performance I purchased the turntable on the spot.
I like your idea for using the vibration damping “things” not pads with the 1900 series amplifiers. The connectors at the back are a lousy design. Probably looked good on paper for in practice not so much.
Does the mean you cant hear Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys.
I put higher feet on my flats too

The Beach Boys (whom I met once….WAY past their prime years) have a vibration exemption for “Good Vibrations.”

Hey Søren,
7 years ago, they all must have been three years younger than God!
I saw them in the late seventies, probably 1978 and they were just a bunch of middle aged men who were availing themselves of a free pass to a brand new health club in St. Petersburg.
All four were constantly on the look-out for attention and had little if any interest in a work out…. more to be seen.
As this was a segregated health club, men on one side and women on the other, these gentleman quickly lost interest in their visit and left.
Oh sure they were friendly enough as they had a concert to perform, but for me personally, they seemed awfully conceited. (I am sure ALL stars are, but they usually have the good sense to hide it better….)

Back in my wild days I met some Danish artists like Peter Belli, The Lead singer from Sir Henry and his Butlers Ole something (forgot) both very popular in DK Peter Belli was seeking attention while Ole was acting like an everyday guy, I went a whole night with him through all the pubs and discos in Holstebro with him, we ended up in a dorm for nurses to be.
Now playing Suzi, I hope she dont end up like Bonnie Tyler, saw her performance for the European Melody Grand prix, not good voice gone.
That was Ole 'Sir Henry' Bredahl.
I can’t say I have had all that many encounters with singing stars with the amazing exception of Nana Mourkouri. I had a lengthy personal talk with Ms. Mouskouri at HER invitation. A moment I will long, long treasure and I can add, the lady has quite a firm grip.
