there may have never been a better singer than Otis Redding, and I love him to death, but got to give this to the godfather.  His performance is iconic.

The Pixies, every single time. Though I would choose Debaser instead, but that's a completely different question.

How weird is that?!! I saw Seal in concert last year and had just finished watching his live version of Killer that I recorded on my phone. I later then went on Beoworld and happened across your post. Spooky!! (Suppose it is nearly Halloween)😉

Oh Edith Piaf did smile, but NEVER while performing, that would not go with her style. However in social setting (she was VERY social, and at any hour) she smiled quite a lot, especially if there was a male interest nearby.

I have another unusual one since my last post about The Polish Ambassador...  I stumbled across this artist while I was at a music festival that I went to to see the Dave Matthews Band.  After seeing him live I bought a couple albums.  It wasn't until I got my first B&O equipment that I realized there there was so much more going on in the music (my previous audio equipment was extremely lacking).  Like I said...  it's not your usual music, but I always enjoy discovering something new and different.   The artist is Shpongle.

Duels:

Pixies

Phil Collins

An Pierie

James Brown

The Temptations

@CB (Christophe) you have set us an interesting task ...

1. Maxence Cyrin (sorry guys)

2. An Pierle

3. Phil Collins

4. Otis Redding

5. Temptations, although I really did like the George Michael medley (I was tempted to wimp out and say it was a tie !)

6. almost no need to listen, Edith owns it ! however I was pleasantly surprised by Grace's rendition

7. David Lee Roth (strange I know, however his energy got to me)

8. Elton John although wan came close, but Billy did not

Makes one think if our preferences are based on memories and recollections rather than being able to listen with a fresh ear !

I'll play the list again tomorrow ... and knowing my fickle nature I'll probably flip one or two Laughing

Hi Ed

Almost... but still necessary!

That's exactly what I had in mind when I wrote these messages Cool

Having different mother tongues, it's also interesting to see how we perceive the "music of the lyrics", and the impact on our tastes of understanding these lyrics.

I thought a brain-storm in this thread may be interesting (though certainly hard...)
