Yes their labels are cool. Here’s a bottle of IPA I’m saving for the weekend. Mr elephant might like this one.

Met up with a friend for his birthday. We couldn’t decide between the rhubarb fruit beer and the breakfast stout. So we had them both....

Sad I had high hopes for the salt beer. A couple drops of a salt solution is a great little surprise when making cocktails.

Mine is on the right. An orange and chilli conditioned stout from Beavertown called fire and fury. Beautiful strong flavours coming through. Not subtle....

Bierol porter

Beer from Tirol Smile

Going hazelnuts

http://www.bierol.at

Simply fantastic Beer

Google translation gives this :

A beer as crazy as its name implies: Going Hazelnuts is the fruit of a fruitful collaboration with Chris Sullivan of Outlaw'd Collaborations. The brewmaster from the American Craft Beer stronghold Oregon has realized with us his dream to brew a beer with real hazelnuts. After a recipe that arose during a creative night at a creative meeting in the beer garden until two o'clock in the morning. Going hazelnuts are painstakingly roasted and crunched into organic hazelnuts and added at various stages of the brewing and ripening process. In combination with East Kent Golding hops and roasted malt, this produces a round nut with a light nut flavor - unforgettable, unique and brewed exclusively from natural ingredients.

CB, that porter looks awesome!

Duels, I am still open to doing a beer exchange if you want. The porter and stout season is about here...

Today I was enjoying F1 qualifying with a nice bourbon barrel stout by a local Georgia brewery. The beer selection at the bar was great. Also tried a cocoa nib stout by Prairie Bomb.

You guys inspired me to pull this bottle from 2016

Despite being an 11.1% abv, this imperial stout with ancho chili, chipotle peppers, cinnamon, vanilla, and cocao nibs is rich with subtle flavors lingering and not boozy at all.

Well this is without doubt one of the best I’ve ever had.

Collaboration between Beavertown and 3 floyds. Two wood matured stouts combined to make an absolutely amazing imperial stout. 1 part aged in bourbon barrels, the other aged in barrels soaked in coffee.

We’ve got malt, dark chocolate, bourbon, liquorice, raisins, and so many other flavours going on. It’s 14% but tastes incredibly smooth. It cost £18 for the bottle and my local bottle shop was limited to 4 bottles -I got the last one. Very very special.

Evil Twin Imperial Donut Break. Killer beer! Super thick with molasses and raisins up front and you can taste a bit of toasted donut on the finish.

Holidays in Austria with Zillertal Schwarze beer and music.

A surprisingly refreshing beer delicacy comes from Tyrol.
The insider tip for all beer connoisseurs: mahogany colors, with a
delicate roasted malt character, noble hop note and wonderful aroma.

Merry Christmas.

Around May 2017 I bought 6 bottles of St Stefanus blonde beer. The plan was to see how it aged in the bottle over 18 months/ 2 years. I can’t believe that this beer is now two years old, where does the time go? I still have three bottles and I have been looking forward to trying it at the maximum recommended age. And here it is.....

The beer has darkened in colour quite considerably so that it’s now a burnt orange colour. The flavour has also changed quite dramatically. It started off fresh and fruity but we now have heavy autumn fruit flavours coming through. It’s much more well rounded. Stronger taste but smooth edges. It has also developed a very definite hint of banana! Mouthfeel is also much fuller and smoother.

I wondered if this was just a gimmick when I started the experiment almost two years ago. But the transformation in the bottle is very real.

This beer is now amazing and I am very pleased that I have continued collecting bottles so that I can continue to enjoy this beer at its very best when 2 years old.

cheers!

Here is a Norwegian IPA from a new brewery in my neighborhood. Yeast is from Norway and Simcoe hops.

It’s nice, well mannered IPA.

That looks gorgeous. Love how hazy/opaque it is.

I thought everyone had stopped drinking beer as no one had posted since my last post in early January!

Cherry chocolate and a quad! Seems that would take very careful balancing to make work well. I had a Petrus sour not too long ago that was quite nice. Speaking of, are you guys seeing sours absolutely everywhere these days? They use to be quite the irregular addition to a tap here.

Every new brewery menu (our city is very pro-brewery and tap-room, so there are many new breweries) has something to the extent of: 3 IPAs, a house ale, a stout or porter, and a fruity sour.

Yes We are seeing more and more sours which I’m very happy about.

Tried this one recently. As you would expect, tastes of plums, lots of plums

Seems I have been away for 3 months.

Thank you tournedos for luring me back.

I’ve been religiously keeping a record of my beer adventures with the intent of posting them.

To break the posting drought here is tonight’s.

Very smoooooth.
