Hi Ben,
The battery for your 6000 Commander is available, not unlike the truly weird fat little battery for the Beomaster 2400.2 remote control. Every time I have replaced this battery the specialty shop owner gives me a "deep" look and asks, "What is this for?"
Like you I worry about my equipment that isn't getting a lot of use. My Beogram 4000 being a prime example as well as the Beocord 9000, both are in a really tight media room that is hard to get around. Still, both jump to life when given their chance.
I really admire your BC 7000, you can tell it has been taken care of!
My setup for the bl/bm5000 is slowly coming together. I have decided not to keep the beovox 5000 and instead try a set of m100 with it. So it's not going to be an 'original' setup, and therefore i thought that I might aswell try to find a beogram 4000 instead of a 3000. I just like it better and the 4000 was of course the first with the tangential arm.
And this weekend I found a good one :-) it is in good working order, the veener is very good aswell, the aluminium has a few scratches and the lid quite a lot. It is clear that it has been used but also well looked after.

Pretty nice upgrade from BL8000 in my opinion.
Though not as impressive looking as the stately 8000s they definitely deliver on the most important aspect, sound. Yes that's a custom "beovision" OLED. hehe Spent pretty much all the week end listening to probably too much.
Not B&O but FANTASTIC in every other way.
This was the absolute flagship for JVC and is a near professional editing S-VHS recorder. The seller paid $3,300 for this model in 1991 and sold it to me Sunday with original box, 3 manuals, the full set of cables, remote, and a sealed blank S-VHS tape, for (are you ready?) $50.
I have a good many S-VHS tapes that are meaningful to me and our inexpensive DVD/VCR can not play S-VHS tapes. Problem solved, and beautifully.
This VCR is stunning and can do sound over sound and a host of professional editing that I will never use, but still, I now can view my collection of memories.
VCR's basically can not be repaired as what normally fails is the heads which wear out and there are NO replacements anywhere. This model was used to convert S-VHS to Hi8 and was put in storage after the transfer.
Inside it looks new. (Outside too) Cleaned and lubricated it and what a machine! One broken part which was repaired easily with super glue.
I am just bouncing off the walls with delight!

Thanks :-) I will sand if it is needed, but first i'm going to try to revive it using a mix of genuine turpentine, linseed oil and vaseline oil and 00 grade steel wool. Hopefully this will bring back some colour and life to the rosewood veneer without turning it deep dark which can easily happen when sanding rosewood. Then boiled linseed oil and finish with beeswax.

It took me the entire day to read the instruction manual Volume 1 (there are 3) and OMG there isn't much this machine doesn't do. There must be 50+ switches that allow for manual everything. For instance you can record in S-VHS or VHS, listen to the left channel or the right, or (better still) stereo. It can play in Hi-Fi or regular.... or "read" both. It even erases at 7 times normal speed.
I honestly can say I understand why JVC charged $3,300 for this deck. In addition this deck can be set-up in tandem with a second deck and both controlled by the single remote.
So far the only thing wrong of ANY kind that I have found is a fuzzy bit fell off a tape tensioner and that was easy to glue back in place.
This HR-S10000U is nothing like a "standard" S-VHS and much more than I will actually ever use. The editing features take up an entire booklet, but whatever, I am impressed.
When I researched this VCR I found it is a "collector's MUST have" and they go for in and around $1,000 today. I keep pinching myself that I got it with everything included for $50, because I would have hated to miss out of this find, but I'd never have paid $1,000. Dumb luck, I didn't have to.

You have to love the late-80's design that the box has! And only in small text on the bottom side it actually says it's a light controller, one could easily think otherwise... or have no clue at all!
Advertised as 3 non-working units, but at least the one I opened worked, so this could be fun.

chartz:Just for the sake of it, I've just tried QUAD ESL 57s driven by the Beomaster 8000 receiver. It just proves that the 8000 is a truly great amplifier. It drives the ESL perfectly and the sound is just beautiful, with great imaging. It is only too good for B&O speakers! Jacques

I had a BV 7-32 stand custom made from STBbrackets to fit my LG Oled tele - also for whatever reason LG also doesn't utilise standard VESA mounting patterns. This is probably the only OLED on a floor stand that I am aware of and yes the picture is incredible! Set up is quite simple all hidden by use of another STbbrackets pole mount behind:
LG OLED HDMI >> AppleTV >> optical >> S8 Hub >> PL BL9 >> BL9.
There's a Beoplay S8 connection hub on the rear with an Apple TV which connects as a 'system' of sorts until Beosound Core gets released
I've upgraded from BL2 & 8000s to BL9, would have gone for BL5 but they're physically quite large. No multiroom though Airplay from my Mac is Multiroom, Airplay2 will be basically multiroom then if not before Beosound Core gets released.

I read with great interest your post on QUAD ESL 57 speakers. Interesting.
I too have a new addi(c)tion perhaps not in the same league, but special to me none the less..... in part due to the massive aggravation associated with them.
Picture this, I find a pair of M75 speakers with stands in Vancouver for $200. Fantastic, only the ferry ride from Vancouver Island is now $190. As such I was not about to make that trip just for those speakers of unknown quality. Fortunately, I was scheduled to go to the All British Car Show in 2 weeks and held my breath that no one in a city the size of Vancouver would scoop in and snatch my "find."
The speakers are immaculate so I bought them, went to the car show, which was wonderful, and brought the speakers home. A little TLC and they proved to be MUCH better than expected.
Next day tried them out and one was dead. Crestfallen with the usual BeoWorld BeoHelp (this includes you, Martin, Soren.....etc.) I got inside and decided it was the over-load protection circuit.
Skip forward (boring detail unneeded) the pounding restored the dead speaker to life and yesterday I picked up the woofers and mid-ranges with new foam surrounds. Beautiful job, by the way.
Got one speaker back together and noticed the other woofer had its wire"broken." Back to the shop.
FINALLY after waiting 3 weeks for the surrounds to arrive, and the damaged wire, showtime.
Very impressive at first then the one speaker went crackle, crackle and died. Unexpected. A good smack to the speaker top would restore the sound but only for 30 seconds and more of the crackle, crackle, and silence.
Last night we had company over for dinner from Calgary, Alberta and I managed to sneak away and try the M75's...... they were fine.
Today I figured what have I got to lose? So I tried playing them and crackle, crackle... so I turned up the volume. The crackle stopped for 3 hours and playing at VERY high volume all I can say is Martin was right, these speakers are in a different league as compared to the S75's.
On fact, I can never look with the same love and admiration at the S75's again, not after hearing these M75's.
So will they keep working? Gosh, I don't know. Maybe they just needed to be played, or maybe the one speaker will crap oput again, and if so, I';; have to get inside and find out what is really wrong.
But in the mean time I am going to REALLY enjoy these superb speakers!
I thank everyone involved (even if not mentioned specifically by name) for your help and encouragement to buy these wonderful sounding speakers. They are also incredibly beautiful in that the veneers are bookmarked, which I find remarkable.

To me the problem remains to be solved and clearly points at a bad relay contact or a bad solder. I'd investigate further. Of course you can keep using the speaker safely.

I have no illusion that the "problem" is fixed, however a "hard" failure is easier to spot than an intermittent one.
I too had thought of a bad contact (somewhere) and/or a bad solder point, BUT driving the speaker HARD should have had a bad solder point constantly going in and out of failure. Or so I think. Ditto the over-load relay.
As you said, playing the speakers can do no damage and in the mean time I am all but mesmerized by them and their sound quality.
I think the pressure inside the cabinet, along with the vibrations when you push the speaker a bit, can cause exactly what you have observed. To me, it all seems logical.
I am not entirely certain I follow you, but if what YOU understand causes this speaker to function properly, I will just smile and hope it continues.

With all my talk about the M75 speakers another little project has gone undeservedly overshadowed. If the speakers required patience, my Beomaster 1600 required the patience of Job, torture from inauspicious beginning to qualified successful end.
Purchased on eBay, the seller said everything worked properly. Not so, the left channel was out and the LED's didn't light on the left side. A quick inspection discovered a cap broken in half as well as other problems.
Off to Benny in Georgia, but the USPS lost it, for almost 10 days. Not a good beginning.
Benny couldn't get the control buttons to function with the front aluminum panel in place and shipped it to me (mostly) repaired. The BM 1600 arrived but after a single use, the LED's went out on the left side, as it was when it first arrived.
5 months of on and off repair attempts to extend the reach of the control buttons produced uneven results: fix 1 and the next 1 stops working. Frustrating. In any case NEVER ever got the on/off switch to work, so the 1600 sat here useless.
The last unsuccessful attempt to get the buttons to actually do what they were designed to do required a slight adjustment on the left side circuit board and mother of Jefferson Davis, all the LED's lit up on the left side. I spent HOURS looking for that bad solder point and didn't find it. Now I have a very good idea where it is and when/if the LED's go out again, my soldering iron is standing ready.
I know when I am licked so after 5 long arduous months, I surrendered and removed the front panel, and as a result ALL buttons function correctly including the all important on/off switch.
With the stunning M75's mated with the Beomaster 2400.2 freed-up a pair of S75 speakers, now connected to the former display piece, now fully functioning receiver.
The Beomaster 1600 is a striking and handsome esthetic piece with horrendous mechanicals, but now fully functioning adds a good bit of class to the dining room.
Success at last! This only took 5 months, but like all challenges, from THIS vantage point, it was worth the effort.
Here is a better shot of the Beomaster 1600 along with an unrestored but functioning Beomaster 2400, I received as a gift.

There has actually been quite a few nice sets lately and the best seem to sell fast.
Just a quick picture of the stereo width box. It seems to be well looked after, the black writing is a little faded, but not too much. As a bonus it came with the original manual It's in three languages, so if anyone would like a copy, let me know
I'm currently using beovox m100s with my bl5000, and though the beovox 3000 is perhaps the obvious choice for the center speaker I'ld like to know your thoughts?
I have a very lovely pair of 1500s (6209) that i think I'll try out but at only 15w I don't know...
