My dealer told me that the Contour does NOT use an off-the-shelf Stage.

ie. you can't buy a Contour frame and drop in an existing Stage. It used a slightly customised version. Explains the oak fret, too.

More seriously though, can I take the 'spare' Stage I have here and use it with this frame and an a panel?

Yes you can!Big Smile

No you can't. Are you just assuming or have some knowledge? My dealer says this isn't possible.

They take the alu edge off and slide it in the frame, same for the panel. I've seen it yesterday. if this is ''custom'' then I guess yes, but it's literally the stage with out the alu frame and nothing else is different. Even the holes for the front cover are the same, inside it also has the two lights you see on the Stage.

I asked how to built the contour and that's what I was told and also could verify by seeing it Smile

The spec says the TV has 4 HDMI input. Will the Beoremote control them?

Yes but in the pricelist I found that you could buy a Cheaper version of the Stage without the Frame, So you don need to throw out frames ;)

I'll ask him again. I guess dealer's are lacking all the information they need so far. I wonder if they can buy a Contour without the Stage though.

The "naked" Stage is featured in the pricelist as a stand alone item with its own product number, so I guess you can.

BeoSound Stage Floor Stand: 700€

LG CX 48": 1.199€ (or 55" for 1.299€)

BeoSound Stage: 1.500€

BeoRemote One: 300€

Total: 3.699€ or 2.999€ with wall brackets.

Contour: starting from 5.299€ with wall bracket. The aluminum frame is pretty expensive!

48" is a bit too small for me, but I really like Contour's design. I'd take a 55" version over Eclipse any time.

Any info on the Contour floor stand price?

Where are you located? If you can get CX48 for 1.190 you can get the Contour for less too. In the Netherlands CX48 still retails for 1.699.

I'm located in Finland. Just checked the 48" CX price: https://www.verkkokauppa.com/fi/product/24134/nkfdh/LG-OLED48CX-48-4K-Ultra-HD-OLED-televisio

It's the time of year when CX prices (prices of LG's this year's models in general) start to come down as 2021 models are around the corner.

Wow, very good price!

At B&O Copenhagen pricing is as follows

Contour with cloth + wall bracket: 5.360
Contour with cloth + table stand: 5.460
Contour with cloth + floor stand: 5.680

Wood + 690

I’d get a 55 version for my bedroom too, in theory.

But no power link , no motorised wall bracket - too limiting for the price

I fully agree. I think the package look very nice, and it could be seen as a possible replacement of my trusted BV10-40, but the lack of Power Link connections is frustrating, having invested in B&O Lab 18's, 4000's and Lab2 to have surround. Wonder if it is possible to fix this by adding an Almando box to the Contour and still use the built in speaker as center channel ? Spoke to a dealer today advising this was not possible, and he wanted me to buy the Eclipse instead. He may have had his reasons for not telling the full story. Anyone in the forum having any knowledge of whether the Almando box would be a possibility ?? Adding the cost of an Almando box would still be cheaper than going for the Eclipse mk II.

There won't be a 55" version (that's the Eclipse) as it's using the Stage technology, which just happens to be the same width as the 48".

ie. a 55" would require a brand new speaker, which makes the entire project custom and not using existing components. Not going to happen.

Correct... the Contour is 48" only. A 55" would be in the price range of the Ecliple with less features

I'm sure you are correct and that this is B&O's reasoning as well.

However, Stage would fit in a 55" Contour frame: just small spacers at both ends of Stage, inside the frame, and slightly longer speaker covers. I can see how this could be done. Easily, actually.

Guys, we discuss things that just aren't going to happen.

The 48" Contour is B&O's "basic" entry-level TV. If you want to move up to 55" or higher, you have the Eclipse. You won't get a 55" Contour. No clue why we're even thinking it will happen.

It looks great. But seems incredibly overpriced compared to a stage, stand, LG CX, beoremote combo. You don’t get any additional features. B&O seem to have missed a trick in regards to the PL/surround sound capability - the Horizon did it!! Seems like a significant downgrade and a lazy decision to simply plug a stage into a LG tv and call it an “entry level” BeoVision.

It is exactly that - lazy.

Either lazy with respect to the included functionalities, or lazy with respect of pricing it similarly to their previous entry level TV.

That entry level TV had expansion capability, this does not.

Which is a shame, because in certain colour schemes it seems to look pretty nice.

Of course its meant to be stand alone TV - but in that case there are plenty of much better value propositions in the market, for half the price or less.

Not wanting to start the "is it a beovision" thing again but watched "how do they do it" last night where they showed the building of a bv10.

No comparison, not even remotely! (sic)

One thing I wonder is, wouldn't the picture reflect in the frame when in low lit room?
I thought it was the reason why the frame in the BV 10/11/14 was beveled to the outside and the Horizon frame was dark.

The youtube video seems to answer this a little bit.

I wonder if the frame will be sold separately so we can benefit from a discounted LG panel through bulk suppliers

Also, does this mean the Stage is getting a wood fret?

You can get a wood fret for the Stage -although not from B&O (yet):

Anyone already informed about the pricing of the Contour elements:

- LG CX48

- Stage without frame

- Frame

I tempted to get a LG48 upfront and later get the frame / stand / cover

Thanks

@Fansastic: Please note that sometimes dealers are offering nice bonuses if you buy everything from them at once:

I've been notified by my dealer that if I get the full Harmony (incl. LG GX) B&O is offering 5 years warranty free of charge, and they have a very nice price on the 65GX. so don't hesitate to ask, you may be surprised.

Just a few observations on the Contour

  • I like the fact that the aluminium actually looks like that. On the horizon it was always anodized black, which made it look like plastic.
  • It has more bulk, both visually and in actual dimensions, than the Horizon, not to my liking. It's a good deal heavier too.
  • The easel stand has gone by the looks of it. I very much dislike TV-stands and wall mountings as well, so sad to see that one go.
  • Sad to see there's no 40 inch version. I'm probably a minority of one, but 48 inches is too big for me. It's probably no longer feasible for B&O to cater for that market.

I hope STB makes an easel stand!

In any case it is hard to find a 40” LCD at all. Let alone a 40” LG with a chip capable of handling the B&O app. I guess a 40” won’t be in the cards. But remember that B&O now offers every OLED size that LG is making (48/55/65/77/88). 48 is pitched more as a desk top gaming screen than a tv. Times are changing.

You're definitely right. I just looked online and most offerings seem to be in the 55" and 65" size. The 40" TV's seem to have almost disappeared from the market. There are quite a few 32" offerings, though.
